I decided that I was going to agree with him on that score. There was no need pushing beyond what I couldn't make possible.
So I said, "All right, then. I guess we are going to look for another way to make you do something for me. Something else."
He leaned forward on the table, his elbows apart from each other. "Something like what?"
The look on his face was one of captivated interest. Like he really wanted to know what it was I wanted him to do for me. Didn't look like he was tired or exasperated of my demands. Not like I had even made many of them.
I looked right into his eyes. He was serious about it anyway. "I'm still thinking about it."
"While you are at it, why don't I show you what I have for you?"
"All right," I granted. "Does this mean we'll be leaving here now?" I asked him.
