The key, cool and heavy in Isla's hand, felt strangely familiar. It resonated with the same energy that had pulsed through her during the vision, a connection to a past life that was slowly coming to the surface.
"Where do we even begin to look?" Kai asked, his voice laced with uncertainty.
Isla glanced around the sanctuary, her eyes scanning the shelves overflowing with ancient tomes and artifacts. "Perhaps the book itself holds the answer," she suggested.
They carefully examined the book again, searching for any clues, any indication of where this "door" might be located. Finally, Kai noticed a faint, almost invisible inscription on the inside cover, hidden beneath a layer of dust.
He gently brushed away the dust, revealing a series of symbols that resembled an ancient map. It depicted a winding path, culminating in a single, glowing point.
"Look," Kai said, pointing to the glowing point. "It's right here, in the sanctuary."
Isla's eyes widened. "But where?"
They searched the room frantically, their eyes scanning every inch of the walls, the floor, the ceiling. Finally, Kai noticed a slight indentation on the wall behind a towering bookshelf.
He approached the wall, his heart pounding. He inserted the key into the indentation, and it fit perfectly. With a gentle twist, the wall swung open, revealing a narrow passageway hidden behind the bookshelf.
Isla gasped. "It's a secret passage!"
Kai nodded, his eyes filled with excitement. "Let's go."
They cautiously stepped through the narrow passageway, the cool air of the hidden chamber swirling around them. The passage led them deeper into the heart of the sanctuary, into a room they had never noticed before.
The room was small and circular, with a single, glowing stone embedded in the center of the floor. The stone pulsated with an otherworldly light, casting strange shadows that danced on the walls.
