Chapter 22 - A Day Away from the Screen

[The Next Day]

Sarah: ****, it's breakfast time.

John: Get up already; it's almost noon.

Our character got up and went to have breakfast.

John: How about we go to the movies today? I heard there are some great films.

****: No, not today.

John: You're coming if I say so.

****: I don't want to.

John: Why, ****? Life isn't just about computers or video games. There are a lot of things waiting for you outside. Why are you locking yourself up in front of a 25-inch screen?

****: Okay, Dad, maybe you're right. We can go.

John: ****, alright, I'll arrange the tickets. Let's head out soon.

Our character left the house with his dad and got into the car.

John: ****, I'm really curious about what's so important on the computer.

****: Nothing.

(What do you think about this? Do you consider computers to be nothing, or are they like another world? Personally, I think computers are just technological tools made to distract the masses. But this is valid for certain topics; they can be useful if you want to learn something.)

John: Why do you suddenly go quiet sometimes? If you want to see a psychologist again, you should stop talking to the one there.

John: Okay, if it's nothing, why do you keep using it?

****: Dad, let's just go to the movies.

They went to the movies and watched a sci-fi film.

John: What did you think of the movie?

****: I think it was a bit exaggerated.

John: What was exaggerated?

****: The duration. Who makes a 3-hour movie?

John: Yeah, you're right; it was long.

(Three hours is a long time. This can be related to history; a war won by the British lasted 44 minutes, and the same applies to the Ottomans, but theirs lasted two hours. In such durations, the world can change, little or much, but it changes. Yet, we wasted three hours on a crappy movie. Time is always important; we shouldn't waste it.)

After returning home with his dad, our character collapsed directly on his bed.
