Chapter 5 - THE FALL OF THE DEVIL

EMILY POV

After reading chapter one of this novel titled *The Fall of the Devil*I was astounded and afraid by how the author described it, and it aligned with what we were taught in Bible school.

I was tired and prepared to go to bed. It had been since morning since I last saw Eron, and I was not bothered about it. Something was telling me that I had known him longer than just yesterday since I thought I had arrived here. I was climbing the stairs to our quarters when some guards wanted to escort me.

"Don't bother; I will go on my own," I informed them. I didn't like the kind of royalty and the way the guards were following me up and down.

As I was walking down the corridor, I stumbled upon something and was about to fall when a strange hand caught me. Who dared to touch a princess this way, I wondered. I was surprised to see Phillip, Eron's elder brother.

"Thanks for saving me, my prince," I said, looking grateful. I wondered how I knew him if I had just gotten here yesterday. What happened?

"You need to face the front and watch your steps, Emily," he said. "Why are you walking alone? Where are your guards? You need to be careful in this hall; you don't know what people might be planning," he said.

I moved back a little bit because he was precisely close to me, and I could see the way he looked at me lustfully.

"Thank you for saving me, Prince Philip. I really appreciate it, and I need to go now. Eron must be waiting for me."

"Eron?" he laughed majestically. "How do you feel getting married to the devil?"

"He is not a devil," I replied, saying it harshly, not liking the way he referred to him.

"Really?" he laughed still. "Can you ask him what happened to Peter, my younger brother, if he dares tell you?" he said, laughing continuously.

I wondered what he meant by that because I had never heard that name before. I was left alone there in the middle of the corridor, watching him leave and walk down the stairs, still contemplating what he just said.

"Never mind him; he just wants to scare me," I said to myself.

As I turned to move to our quarters, I was surprised to see the door open, and I wondered why Esther opened the door like that. As I moved closer, I heard them talking, and I saw Eron inside from afar. I was happy to see him, but something in me still got scared seeing him.

It felt like he wanted to harm me as I saw him from afar. As I neared the door, I heard what they were saying; they were discussing me. Esther mentioned the curse.

"What curse?" I yelled. Eron and Esther were surprised to see me there; I could see it on their faces.

"How long have you been there?" Eron asked.

"Long enough to hear that I can help you break your curse," I said softly. "What curse did you expect me to help you break? I heard that Esther helped you lock away my friend Sarah," I added.

"You need to calm down and don't get me wrong. What if I ask your friend to be locked away? What do you think you can do to me?" he said, moving closer to me. He used his hand to draw something on my face, and I felt some butterflies rushing down my stomach.

How can someone be cold and wicked at the same time? I wanted to hate him, but I couldn't just tell him he couldn't be like this forever. Something might have changed him.

"Did you want to lock me up also?" I said, stammering, and I knew he could see the fear in my face. But I didn't care. I needed to ask about my destiny here. I didn't know what he wished to do with me, and I felt I lost some part of my memory. I didn't know what happened to me.

"I can lock you up forever if I wish," he said, lifting my face up to look into his hazel, golden fire eyes. His eyes were something else entirely; any girl could fall for his eyes and make them do something they didn't wish to do.

But I knew he couldn't be this cold.

"You can't lock me up," I said, breaking my hand from his grip and moving to the window side to watch the birds singing. I knew he was surprised to see the way I talked.

He left immediately, shutting the door behind him, leaving me with Esther.

"Miss Emily doesn't think that something happened to him that made him change," Esther said.

"What happened? I have been here, and I felt that I lost some memory, and you can't tell me what is happening. Just let me know something, even if you didn't tell me everything," I pleaded, moving closer to her.

She let out a big sigh and held my hand.

"Emily, one day you will understand what is happening, but it is not the time to tell you or inform you about what is happening yet, but you need to trust me and try to build something with him. He has been hurt more than you can imagine," she said, looking at me with weary eyes.

I wanted to trust her, but I couldn't be in the dark all the time. I needed to know everything about this place, about what happened to Sarah, but I knew no one would be able to tell me.

"When is the right time you will understand, Emily? But right now, Eron needs your support," she added.

She left me alone to wonder and contemplate what was happening. I moved closer to the bedside to lie down and rest.

As I wanted to fell down on my soft blue bed, I felt some strange power draw me to a strange place, I could not feel or see anything, all I knew what that I am drawn to a total darkness.
