===Rudeus sighed inwardly.
But Allen's subsequent response made it impossible for him to continue pretending to be childish and venting his frustration.
From Allen's expression, it was clear that he genuinely believed he would see Roxy again in the future. The answer was obvious.
'This guy really plans to find Roxy in the future and even travel the world with her as an adventurer.'
'Honestly, even though I've said similar things, I've never truly prepared myself mentally to travel the world with Roxy. From that perspective, it's no wonder Roxy treats Allen differently.'
'This must be his charm... He always says such nice things... and somehow, they always sound so convincing. If I were a girl, I might have fallen for him at first sight.'
'...When will I ever be able to speak so confidently to a girl like that?... He's the kind of guy you can't help but envy, yet you can't bring yourself to dislike him.'
Rudeus helplessly scratched his head and, in a tone that sounded like he was addressing children, said to the three of them,
"Come over here... Since our teacher is leaving tomorrow, I think setting off some fireworks would be a nice way to set the mood..."
The window in Rudeus's house was large. The four of them stood side by side in front of it. Rudeus used wind magic to protect the walls while summoning a massive fireball outside the window. The fireball seemed to mix with wind magic, spinning rapidly in his hand. The flames flickered brightly, casting a warm glow on Rudeus's gradually softening expression.
"Keep your eyes on the sky, don't blink~"
With a loud bang, the fireball shot from Rudeus's hand into the night sky. Immediately after, more fireballs followed, one after another, like a rapid-fire cannon.
The fireballs rose higher and higher, disappearing from sight. Roxy and Sylphie blinked in confusion, about to turn and ask Rudeus and Allen what they were up to.
Just then, Rudeus, who was still gazing at the sky, smiled and said,
"Boom!"
As if responding to the call of the future Magic King, the fireballs exploded in rapid succession, lighting up the night sky with a dazzling display of fireworks.
The flames illuminated the eyes of Rudeus, Sylphie, and Allen.
Allen squinted, looking completely at ease, and clapped at the right moment.
"That was really cool, Rudeus. This is the charm of magic, huh?"
Rudeus wiped his nose and didn't say anything, just chuckled as he watched the fireworks continue to burst in the sky.
...
The wind swirled around their faces, and the light flickered on and off.
Roxy wasn't looking at the fireworks.
Her deep blue eyes reflected Allen, who was resting his chin on his hand, gazing at the sky with a smile.
Allen wasn't looking at the fireworks either.
In his line of sight, before the fireworks, a faint haze of dust appeared in front of his face.
[The path to gaining favor has not ended. You have further increased Roxy, Rudeus, and Sylphie's affection.]
[Mushoku Tensei major event participation score has increased.]
[Current stage: Childhood. Cumulative participation score: 70 points.]
[Please keep up the good work. At this rate, the host can easily achieve a perfect score and earn additional rewards.]
'Additional rewards... I almost forgot about that. The previous hints didn't explain in detail, so what exactly are the additional rewards?'
[Don't you think the unknown makes it more exciting?]
Allen frowned.
'Not really. You're being so mysterious. Is this reward even decent? It can't be something like those typical adult game mechanics where reaching a certain affection level gives you magic bonuses, right?... Though, now that I think about it, that does sound kind of interesting... Wait, no... If that were the case, wouldn't I have to start with Paul, since he's the first one in this family who showed me favor?'
[...If that's the host's wish, then I can only wish you happiness.]
'Ugh... Seriously, what's the reward?'
[Mushoku Tensei character location tracking.]
Allen was stunned, his expression turning blank.
'Location tracking? Clairvoyance? Satellite positioning??? Does this mean I can track everyone's location in real-time after the Great Teleportation?'
[Yes.]
'How does it work?'
[Usage: The system will project a map of the Mushoku Tensei world, displaying the target's location, accurate within a 100-meter radius.]
[Targets: Characters from whom the host has previously earned points.]
[Usage frequency: Once per week per person.]
Allen's eyes lit up with excitement. This system reward was incredibly practical. It would largely solve the problem of him struggling to participate in major events after the Great Teleportation. In the original story, the timing of events after the Great Teleportation was vague. With location tracking, he could determine where Rudeus was and gauge the progress of the story, giving him opportunities to intervene.
That's right, he didn't plan to risk getting caught up in the Great Teleportation himself. If something went wrong and he ended up in the ocean or high in the sky, it would be game over.
[Keep it up, host... It's a shame, though. There might still be a chance to earn points from Mrs. Sauros...]
'...Get lost.'
[Okay.]
Although Allen cursed at the system, he was genuinely happy. At this rate, achieving a perfect score of 100 points was entirely possible. There was still over a year left before the end of his childhood, giving him plenty of time to earn points with the Greyrat family.
'There's also the affair incident later. If I handle that well, I should be able to earn a lot of points. From what I can tell, the way to earn points is by influencing the characters' actions. Even though the system keeps teasing me about affection levels, the points I've earned so far have all come from actions that altered the original storyline.'
'Now that I think about it, it feels like the system is encouraging me to create a butterfly effect... deliberately increasing the difficulty of my major event tasks? If I rely solely on my knowledge of the future from the novel, it's safer but won't earn me points quickly. If I create a butterfly effect, it might disrupt my foresight, but it'll help me earn points faster.'
'Exactly. From what I've seen, smaller butterfly effects result in fewer points: like Paul's actions to find me, Sylphie and Rudeus meeting earlier, or Rudeus putting his underwear in the shrine ahead of time. The most points I've earned so far... were from encountering Roxy. That action created a significant butterfly effect, directly causing a major shift in the storyline, with Roxy returning and reconnecting with Rudeus's family...'
As he thought this, Allen felt a burning gaze on him.
He blinked and shifted his gaze from the fading fireworks to his side.
Roxy happened to turn her head, looking at the dark, smoldering remains of the night sky.
Allen instinctively scratched his head.
In his eyes, Roxy's movement caused a strand of hair to bounce in front of her forehead, eventually landing in front of her blue eyes, as if diving into a deep, tranquil lake.
