Chapter 174 - Chapter 174: The Weight of Power

The air outside the Wellington estate was thick with tension as Ochieng and his men walked toward the waiting black SUVs. The engines purred like sleeping beasts, ready to unleash their fury at a moment's notice.

Rolex chuckled as he holstered his gun. "Damn, boss. That was one hell of a move."

Ochieng slid into the back seat, his face unreadable. He didn't need to revel in victory—he knew the war was far from over. This was just the beginning.

As the convoy sped away from enemy territory, Ochieng's mind shifted to something else. Or rather, someone else.

Seline.

The woman who had once been his world. The woman who had walked away when he had nothing.

And now, she was trying to come back.

His phone vibrated. A message.

—Seline: Can we talk? I need to see you.

Ochieng stared at the text, his jaw tightening. He knew he shouldn't care. He knew that answering her would be like playing with fire.

But some fires never truly die.

He exhaled and typed a response.

—Ochieng: 9 PM. My penthouse.

The Penthouse – 9:02 PM

Ochieng stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the city sprawl beneath him. The glass of whiskey in his hand barely touched his lips. He was waiting.

A soft knock.

His pulse remained steady as he walked over and opened the door.

Seline stood there, her beauty unchanged. No—if anything, she looked even more stunning. Time had only refined her, made her more dangerous.

She bit her lip, hesitant. "Can I come in?"

He stepped aside, letting her enter.

The silence between them was heavy. She moved to the center of the room, turning to face him. "Ochieng… I—"

He raised a hand, stopping her. "Say what you came to say, Seline."

She exhaled shakily. "I made a mistake."

He said nothing.

She took a step closer. "Leaving you… it was the worst decision of my life."

Ochieng studied her, his gaze unreadable. He could see the regret in her eyes. He could hear the sincerity in her voice.

But was it real? Or was it just another game?

She took another step, closing the distance between them. "I miss you."

He felt her warmth now, her scent intoxicating.

His body wanted to respond. His mind warned him not to.

But when her fingers traced his jawline, his restraint cracked.

Fire.

That's what it felt like when he pulled her against him, when their lips crashed together with years of suppressed desire.

The world outside didn't matter. Not tonight.

Because tonight, Ochieng was going to remind Seline exactly what she had thrown away.
