Chapter 45 - Uncle Tian, You've Been Poisoned

The Tian Shu Xing had come to find Jiang Chen in person.

Jiang Chen looked at Uncle Tian with curiosity, while Uncle Tian also scrutinized Jiang Chen.

This was the person Lord Morax had chosen as the next Tian Shu Xing.

So young.

Just like Keqing and the others.

Thinking of this, Uncle Tian couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

He was getting old.

Now was the era of the younger generation.

It was time for old folks like him to retire.

"Hello, Uncle Tian."

"Shall we find a place to sit and talk?"

Although Jiang Chen was surprised that Uncle Tian had sought him out, he still extended a polite invitation to chat elsewhere.

"Sure!"

"Let's have a good talk."

With that, Uncle Tian led the way, taking Jiang Chen to a nearby teahouse.

After securing a private room, the two sat down and began chatting.

Uncle Tian was very curious about this person whom Lord Morax had personally chosen as the next Tian Shu Xing.

"Mr. Jiang Chen, where are you from?"

As soon as they sat down, Uncle Tian began asking about Jiang Chen's background.

Hearing this, Jiang Chen was momentarily stunned.

"I'm from Guangdong."

This answer left Uncle Tian utterly confused.

What the heck?

"Oh, sorry."

"I'm not from Teyvat."

"I came from another world and appeared in Mondstadt."

"But Mondstadt is too free, and there are too many man-children, so I didn't like it much and came to Liyue instead."

"Then, as soon as I arrived, Lord Morax took notice of me."

"We had a chat, and he mentioned that you were retiring, so he asked if I was interested in becoming the Tian Shu Xing."

Jiang Chen shrugged and recounted his recent experiences.

Hearing this, Uncle Tian was stunned.

"Someone from another world?"

"No wonder."

"I see."

Uncle Tian finally understood.

Someone from another world? Was Lord Morax planning to have Jiang Chen bring over ideas and knowledge from another world?

With this realization, Uncle Tian nodded.

"If you become the Tian Shu Xing, what are your plans for Liyue?"

"Have you thought about these things?"

After learning more, Uncle Tian began asking about Jiang Chen's vision for Liyue's future.

The Tian Shu Xing was responsible for planning and civil affairs.

These matters were crucial.

He needed to understand Jiang Chen's approach.

"Planning?"

"I discussed some general ideas with Lord Morax earlier."

"Liyue Harbor is too small."

"If I become the Tian Shu Xing, I'll focus on large-scale infrastructure development."

"Start expanding Liyue Harbor toward Guili Plains."

"Right now, Liyue's development is too uneven."

"80% of the population is concentrated in Liyue Harbor, which is clearly a problem."

"With peace now, the population will only grow."

"If this continues, Liyue Harbor won't be able to handle it."

"Villages and towns in other parts of Liyue are already starting to disappear."

"Some villages are left with only elderly or children."

"All the young and able-bodied have moved to Liyue Harbor."

"Even Qingce Village is like this."

"So, if I become the Tian Shu Xing, my first priority will be addressing these issues."

As Jiang Chen explained, Uncle Tian's eyes lit up.

"These are excellent ideas."

"If we develop Guili Plains, it could indeed alleviate the land crisis in Liyue Harbor."

"Additionally, it could boost Liyue's economy."

Those who could become one of the Qixing were no ordinary individuals.

With Jiang Chen's explanation, Uncle Tian could see the potential benefits.

Infrastructure development could stimulate various sectors of the economy.

Liyue's economy would experience a significant boost.

"Exactly."

"That's right."

"Overall, there are many benefits."

"Once these issues are resolved, we can gradually address civil affairs."

"Like introducing a pension system or something similar."

Although Jiang Chen had never held an official position and was just an ordinary person in his previous life, he had seen enough to have some ideas.

He could propose these ideas and let others refine them.

He didn't need to handle everything personally.

His role was to bring a fresh perspective to improve Liyue.

As a seasoned reader of novels, Jiang Chen had plenty of inspiration to draw from.

So, Uncle Tian listened quietly as Jiang Chen shared his vision.

These ideas were not only feasible but would also bring numerous benefits to Liyue.

After understanding this, Uncle Tian realized why Lord Morax had chosen Jiang Chen as the Tian Shu Xing.

"Excellent!"

"Liyue is fortunate to have you."

"I'll announce my retirement soon."

"Be prepared to take over."

"My health has been declining recently."

"It's good to announce my successor early."

Uncle Tian couldn't help but sigh.

The younger generation was truly taking over.

His health was deteriorating day by day.

Hearing Uncle Tian mention this, Jiang Chen glanced at him.

"You've been poisoned."

"I suggest you see a doctor for a thorough check-up."

Jiang Chen narrowed his eyes, giving Uncle Tian a pointed reminder.

That guy Zhiyi by his side was no good.

Hearing Jiang Chen's words, Uncle Tian's expression changed.

Poisoned?

For a moment, Uncle Tian fell into deep thought.

"I see."

A look of disappointment flashed in his eyes.

When Jiang Chen said this, he had already figured it out.

He knew who was behind it.

With Jiang Chen's reminder, how could he not understand?

"Be careful. People's hearts are hard to predict."

Jiang Chen had given the necessary warning.

Whether Uncle Tian would heed it was up to him.

If necessary, Jiang Chen could always deal with Zhiyi directly.

After chatting for a while, Uncle Tian left.

He had learned what he needed to know.

Next, he would make the necessary arrangements to ensure Jiang Chen could smoothly take over the position.

After seeing Uncle Tian off, Jiang Chen finally released Lumine and Havria.

Paimon and Lumine, seeing where Jiang Chen was, were puzzled.

"Why are you at a teahouse?"

"Are we eating something here?"

Paimon perked up immediately.

Was Jiang Chen planning to eat here?

Hearing Paimon's words, Jiang Chen rolled his eyes.

"All you think about is food!"

"I just had a chat with the Tian Shu Xing about taking over the position."

"That's why I'm here."

Coming here just to eat?

Paimon's brain really had nothing but food in it.

"Huh?"

"Is that so?"

As she spoke, her tone was filled with regret.

It seemed like she felt she had missed out on something.

Seeing her like this, Jiang Chen couldn't help but laugh.

"But..."

Before Jiang Chen could finish, Paimon's eyes lit up.

But?

"Are we eating now?"

Paimon looked at Jiang Chen with anticipation.

Is that what's happening?

"Yep."

"It's already noon, after all."

Jiang Chen smiled. Unknowingly, they had been busy all morning.

It was indeed time for lunch.
