Chapter 116 - How Dare You Disrespect the Adepti!

Jiang Chen accepted Klee's gift with a smile, promising to take good care of it.

Hearing this, Klee was overjoyed.

She then proceeded to hand out plushies to everyone else before finally leaving with the Mondstadt delegation.

As she departed, Klee waved goodbye reluctantly—even though they had only spent a day together, she had grown very fond of Jiang Chen.

After seeing her off, Jiang Chen prepared to return to Guili Plains.

"Havria."

"Let's go."

"It's time we head to Guili Plains."

"Pack up and get ready—we depart the day after tomorrow."

"Give everyone a day to prepare."

Jiang Chen's work would no longer be centered in Liyue Harbor.

From now on, he would be stationed in Guili Plains, overseeing its development.

Most of the administrative tasks in Liyue Harbor had been delegated to other departments.

The nation's focus would now shift to Guili Plains.

Apart from Jiang Chen, Keqing was already there.

Hearing his instructions, Havria nodded.

"I'll make the arrangements."

As Jiang Chen's secretary, she had grown accustomed to her role.

Though initially inexperienced, she had now become a capable assistant.

Havria began organizing the preparations while Jiang Chen went to inform Ningguang.

Upon seeing him, Ningguang guessed his purpose for visiting and spoke first.

"You're heading to Guili Plains?"

Jiang Chen nodded.

"Yes."

"Everything there is ready."

"I'll be stationed there to oversee operations."

"I'll leave the logistical matters to you."

While Jiang Chen and Keqing handled development, Ningguang would manage the supply chain—a division of labor decided long ago.

Ningguang acknowledged with a smile.

"Understood."

"If you have any needs, just contact me via talisman."

"Communication is much more convenient now."

Since the mass production of communication talismans began, Ningguang had invested heavily in their manufacture.

Materials were purchased in bulk, causing prices to skyrocket—some even doubling.

But Ningguang, ever the shrewd businesswoman, had secured large orders in advance.

Money was no object.

Having used the talismans herself, she knew their value.

Now that they could be mass-produced, she spared no expense.

With these, coordination would be seamless.

After a brief discussion, Jiang Chen took his leave.

Those who received the notice began packing immediately.

Guizhong, too, prepared to relocate.

She even decided to personally drive some of the alchemy workshop's equipment to Guili Plains.

This was something she had been itching to do.

Ever since the vehicles were invented, she hadn't had a chance to really enjoy them.

Now, on this trip to Guili Plains—

She was going to drive to her heart's content.

On the day of departure, Jiang Chen's team assembled, ready to follow the convoy from the mechanical workshop.

The passenger vehicles Guizhong had designed were simply modified versions of existing models—expanded interiors with extra seating.

For Guizhong and Cloud Retainer, such adjustments were trivial.

Two large buses parked outside the Ministry of Civil Affairs as employees boarded with their belongings.

Jiang Chen and Havria came to inspect the preparations.

But when Jiang Chen saw the drivers, he nearly choked.

"Guizhong is one thing, but Cloud Retainer?!"

"Are you trying to send people to another dimension?!"

Had she joined the Isekai Delivery Service or something?

Was she planning to randomly select a few passengers to yeet into another world?

Though she didn't fully grasp his meaning, Cloud Retainer sensed his skepticism.

Adjusting her glasses, she huffed indignantly.

"Do you doubt this one's driving skills?"

She was offended.

She had invented these vehicles—who could possibly operate them better than her?

To be looked down upon by Jiang Chen was unacceptable.

"Do you even have driving skills?"

Jiang Chen deadpanned.

How could she say that with a straight face?

"This one does!"

"Hmph!"

"These vehicles are this one's creation."

"No one understands them better than this one!"

Except Guizhong.

But she didn't say that part out loud.

"Have you memorized the new traffic regulations?"

"Even an adeptus will be fined if they break the rules."

"Yanfei drafted them, you know."

Jiang Chen smirked.

Fine, she could drive.

But what about traffic laws?

Lumine and Yanfei had spent days compiling the regulations—Lumine provided input while Yanfei handled the legal framework.

Yanfei was a machine, pulling all-nighters to finalize the rules.

Though not yet publicly announced, the mechanical workshop's drivers had already been briefed.

"Hmph!"

"This one has committed them to memory."

Did she look like a joke to him?

If she were fined for reckless driving—

Where would her dignity as an adeptus go?

She had memorized every rule.

Cloud Retainer does not embarrass herself.

"Pfft—!"

"Hahaha!"

"Don't worry, Jiang Chen—she really did memorize them."

"She crammed all night."

Guizhong mercilessly exposed her.

Jiang Chen burst out laughing.

Even Havria struggled to keep a straight face.

"Guizhong!!"

Cloud Retainer's face burned with humiliation.

Must she reveal everything?!

How rude!!

"Whatever, I won't nag you further."

"Alright, everyone, board the buses."

"Even if we crash, she'll protect you."

The employees broke out in cold sweat.

They hadn't been worried before—

But now?

Why did a crash suddenly seem plausible?

Many glanced at their superiors, silently deciding:

Whichever bus the boss takes, they'd follow.

However, Jiang Chen had no intention of riding with them.

Once everyone was aboard, he stored Havria in the Throne of Heroes and—

Vanished.

The crowd stared in disbelief.

Did our boss just ditch us?!

Now, no one wanted to board Cloud Retainer's bus.

The smarter ones had already scrambled onto Guizhong's vehicle.

Cloud Retainer's eye twitched.

"HMPH!"

"How dare you disrespect the adepti?!"

This was outrageous!

To think these mortals would doubt her capabilities!

She, an exalted adeptus, was lowering herself to chauffeur them—

And they had the audacity to be picky?!

And Guizhong—betraying her like that!

"Cloud Retainer, let's go!"

"We should reach Guili Plains by nightfall."

Guizhong's voice snapped her out of her sulking.

Her bus was already full.
