Chapter 22 - The Verdict

Ethan sat steady, eyes scanning the crowd and gaining even more sympathy. The prosecutor walked over with a little file in hand. 

"Mr. Ethan Moons, you mentioned him in an earlier statement." He turned to the jury, reading from the file. 

"Exhibition 1 Mr moon you said and I quote… I stepped out to help the victim, but he refused. His aim was suicide and I just happened to be the unfortunate one." The prosecutor turned to Ethan, who nodded. "Yes," he replied firmly. 

"Good… From a dash camera of a passing car, we can see the victim checking, but he was out and unconscious; hence, when did he mention taking his life?" Ethan felt his body heat up; all eyes were on him as his hands trembled, but he was quick to pull them away from sight and smiled tightly. 

"Running into the road is an attempt, and like I said, I was the unfortunate one. It could have been anyone, and the same outcome would have occurred," he said with a smooth breath.
