The second session was over, but Chief Lucas sat in the car before the judge's gavel touched the desk. He was more than livid. Everything was going astray. He watched the crowded courtyard teem with reporters and their big cameras. But then there was someone else. Someone he desperately wanted to lay his hands on.
Claude descended the stairs, walking towards the road as cameras clicked. He was a mess; he murmured incoherent words, and his steps wobbled. Like a snake awaiting its prey, Chief Lucas sat steady and ready. And the cameras caught a new sight: he had Claude snatched, but then it never went as planned. Kabir and Brandon stepped out, taking Claude with them from the side. They walked over so casually.
"Missed your prey?" Brandon joked, but the middle-aged man looked anything but amused.
"You should know better than to have your pet dog handle things," Chief Lucas croaked.
