The sound of a car key lock beep echoed through the basement parking lot. Renar pinched the bridge of his nose as he walked toward the elevator doors.
His head pounded, blood pressure spiked from the adrenaline rush after god knows how many laps around the highway.
But his steps came to a halt the moment he spotted a figure he least expected. A woman crouched, leaning against the wall in front of the elevator.
His jaw tightened as he looked away, ignoring the woman with shoulder-length black hair who greeted him with a sweet smile.
"What are you doing here?" Renar asked coldly when the woman stood beside him by the elevator.
He didn't press his fingerprint on the scanner yet, which would've opened the lift instantly.
"I rang the bell, and Muffy said you weren't home yet. So I waited here," she replied cheerfully, her soft voice and gaze fixed on him.
"We both know that's not what I meant." His voice stayed cold, now edged with annoyance.
