Nathan's POV
He didn't answer. He stepped closer and stared right at me.
"You're freezing," he said quietly, like he actually cared.
I looked at him, confused. "Who are you?"
He didn't say.
Instead, he placed something warm in my hands. I looked down—it was a small bundle wrapped in cloth.
It was a loaf of bread. Still warm.
I stared at it, shocked.
"Eat," he said softly.
"But… why?" I asked, my voice shaking.
He looked at me and said, "You might not make it alive with an empty stomach."
Then he took a step away.
"I'll be back before dawn."
And just like that, he walked away into the night.
I looked at the bread in my hands and contemplated if I should eat it. I was damn hungry, but what if it was poison?
I scoffed. Why should I care? If it was poison, then it's good. At least the Moon Goddess has answered my prayers.
Not bothering if it was poison or not, I managed to move the bread towards my mouth and took a bite of it.
