Nathan's POV
My eyes danced around the nonexistent distance between Derrick and Anita. They were practically glued to each other, and this was none other than her doing.
She had waltzed into the room, seeking to convince Derrick that I had been lying, and from the contact of their eyes, surely, he would believe her words.
He had no reason to trust me. Anita was his lover—the one he wanted—and no words from me or anyone else could make him believe she was lying or anything like that.
Watching her as she positioned herself beside Derrick like an imprint made my stomach churn in a way I didn't wish to admit.
I watched them with a deep scowl on my face and the thumping of my heart.
I told myself that it couldn't be jealousy. What was there to be jealous of? Derrick had been raised with the idea in mind that he would be getting married to Anita, and his life had been woven for that cause.
