Chapter 2 - The Battle Begins

Ye Zai left the void to go to the Lotus Sect to seek revenge for the death of his sect. On the way, he stopped at the smith in town to have a sword made. "I have 500 copper. Can you make a sword for me, and I'll pay you for it?" Ye Zai asked. The smith replied, "The sword will be of poor quality for that price."

For context, copper in this world is equivalent to one US dollar, silver is equivalent to 500 US dollars, and gold is equivalent to 1,000 US dollars. Ye Zai said, "I just need a sword. I don't care if it's of poor quality."

Ye Zai got the sword and continued his journey to the Lotus Sect. "It's a two-day trip to the sect, so I should have some time to cultivate on the way. But first, I need to find a carriage," Ye Zai said.

Halfway through the trip, he made a breakthrough and reached the Jade Mantis stage of cultivation. The system granted him a new skill, but this one was different. It seemed too powerful for a regular reward: the Divine Technique, Divine Palm. A palm falls from the sky, destroying everything within a 4-mile radius.

Ye Zai stepped out of the carriage when he reached his destination. He stood at the front gate of his enemy's base: the Lotus Sect.

"Now, the battle begins," Ye Zai said, hatred burning in his heart.

He knocked on the giant gate. It opened before anyone had a chance to see who was at the door. He rushed in and killed the first two guards by the gate within the first 15 seconds.

Then, he entered the building where the young master and his father were. They weren't expecting him, as they thought they had killed him. The father of the young master negotiated for his son's life and his own. He pleaded with Ye Zai to spare them, offering 4,000 gold coins in return.

Ye Zai stabbed the young master with his sword. In a fit of rage, the young master's father ordered every guard in the vicinity to kill Ye Zai. All of them rushed at Ye Zai at once.

"You really think 500 of your guards can stop me?" Ye Zai said.

The young master's father, Zou Xi, replied, "Yes."

As Ye Zai fought 30 guards, one guard at the same cultivation stage as Ye Zai punched him in the back, reopening the wounds from when he was chased by the young master and his guards. Ye Zai spat out blood as he jumped out of the entanglement of the 31 guards.

He received a notification from the system: "Host's health has reached 25%." The system activated on its own, and a portal opened, sucking Ye Zai in.
