Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: Confrontation

Just as Light and the other three left Professor McGonagall's office, Light pulled Harry Potter aside, falling slightly behind Hermione and Ron by a step.

He quietly told Harry Potter not to reveal that Headmaster Dumbledore arrived after the fact, or Professor McGonagall would go crazy.

Although Harry Potter felt it wasn't right, he agreed under Light's persuasion.

"Concealing things isn't a good habit!"

Hearing this voice, Light couldn't help rolling his eyes in exasperation.

"What the hell! How do you always catch me?"

"Professor!!" Hermione and Ron turned around upon hearing the voice and saw Headmaster Dumbledore standing beside Light and Harry Potter, smiling.

"Miss Granger, Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, I need to borrow Mr. Ragus for a moment. I hope it won't inconvenience you!" Headmaster Dumbledore's gentle and formal invitation dashed Light's hope of running away.

"Let's go!" Light was led away by Headmaster Dumbledore under the concerned looks of Harry Potter and the other two.

Headmaster Dumbledore led Light to the headmaster's office, pushed the door open, and led Light to the desk, asking him to sit down.

Headmaster Dumbledore sat opposite Light, took out a bunch of disgusting candies from the drawer, and said with a smile, "Would you like some Cockroach Clusters?" He sounded like a candy salesman.

"No, thanks! I'm really scared of them!" Light straightforwardly expressed his concerns.

Hearing this, Headmaster Dumbledore's expression remained unchanged, but his hand with the candy paused involuntarily.

After an awkward silence, Headmaster Dumbledore finally put down the Cockroach Clusters in his hand.

"Light! I have something to ask you. Um! Can I call you that?" Headmaster Dumbledore said while rummaging through his pocket, as if looking for something.

"Of course, Professor! It's my honor!" Light replied with an awkward smile.

"The Philosopher's Stone is a treasure of my good friend Nicolas Flamel. After he made a certain decision, he entrusted it to me for safekeeping."

"Since I knew that Voldemort had other plans for the Philosopher's Stone, I brought it to the school and hid it."

After rummaging in his pocket for a long time, Headmaster Dumbledore took out the Philosopher's Stone and placed it on the table.

"So, do you want it?" Headmaster Dumbledore stared intently at Light after saying that.

Looking at the Philosopher's Stone on the table, Light couldn't help swallowing his saliva. Infinite wealth and endless lifespan were lying right there on the table, seemingly within easy reach.

"Do you think you'd give it to me if I wanted it?" Light forcibly averted his gaze from the Philosopher's Stone.

"As long as you want it, I'll give it to you!" Headmaster Dumbledore said firmly.

"I want..." Light swallowed the words back.

"Forget it! I can't handle it right now." Light felt his heart ache and closed his eyes.

"You're really excellent!" Headmaster Dumbledore's tone was full of admiration, but his hands moved quickly. He quickly put the Philosopher's Stone on the table back into his pocket.

"So, did you get what you wanted?" Light asked through chattering teeth.

"Yes! Hehehe!" Headmaster Dumbledore chuckled like a fox that had stolen a chicken.

"Was my weakness so obvious?"

Light took a deep breath and asked, enunciating each word deliberately.

"Except for your outstanding performance when Hagrid was in danger, you've shown no signs of anything wrong," Headmaster Dumbledore shook his head and shared his thoughts.

"Plus, I happen to know someone you resemble. That air of calm and nonchalance, as if you know everything. That's why I had this suspicion."

"Then you should be careful! The future I know is starting to deviate. Don't put too much faith in it!" Light curled his lips and didn't even bother with polite language.

"I will. Thank you very much for your help," Headmaster Dumbledore said seriously, thanking Light.

"Who would've thought that the most powerful wizard in the wizarding world would use the Philosopher's Stone to break my composure and then read my mind. So sneaky and underhanded!" Light was extremely annoyed, his mind racing.

Headmaster Dumbledore couldn't help but laugh when he saw Light all puffed up.

"Alright! Stop being angry! I'm just keeping the Philosopher's Stone safe for now. If you still want it later, I'll give it to you," Headmaster Dumbledore soothed Light like a child.

"Really, huh!" Light's eyes lit up.

"Really, but it's still too early. You should be able to sense that the Philosopher's Stone isn't entirely safe on its own."

"Moreover, I hope you can gain the recognition of the stone's original owner. He'll tell you all its secrets," Headmaster Dumbledore said kindly, looking at Light as his anger subsided.

"The original owner, Nicolas Flamel?" Light asked hesitantly.

"Yes!" Headmaster Dumbledore nodded in agreement.

"Alright then. But... can we go to see him next semester?" Light hesitated, estimating his remaining Mileage Points.

"No problem, as long as you want," Headmaster Dumbledore said with a gentle smile, watching Light's eyes dart around.

"Thank you very much!" Light thanked obediently.

"I don't know how many memories you've retrieved, but the Horcruxes are very dangerous. And the future I know has changed. Don't trust it completely," Light hesitated for a moment but finally spoke up to warn Headmaster Dumbledore.

"I know. Voldemort used Quirrell to create a Horcrux you weren't aware of," Headmaster Dumbledore said seriously.

"Yes, I'm worried he might create more Horcruxes I don't know about," Light said, looking worried.

"Don't worry. He won't make more. The more Horcruxes he has, the more dangerous it is for him," Headmaster Dumbledore comforted Light with a smile, seeing his concern.

Headmaster Dumbledore noticed the confusion in Light's eyes and continued to explain.

"You should be able to sense that the effect of Dark Magic on Voldemort is weakened. And its power is abnormally strong, right?"

"Even when hit directly by the Fiendfyre curse, he managed to hold on for a long time. He used the nature of the Horcruxes to temporarily absorb the fire and create an escape opportunity."

"Yes, I've fought him twice. I did notice something off about Voldemort, but I didn't know the reason," Light interrupted, voicing his question.

Headmaster Dumbledore ignored the interruption and went on, "During the wizarding war, I often faced him. I was as confused as you until I learned he'd created Horcruxes. That's when I discovered his secret."

Light's eyes lit up instantly upon hearing this, and his palms involuntarily rubbed against each other.

Headmaster Dumbledore didn't try to hide much and directly gave the conclusion, "Horcruxes can enhance Dark Magic. There might be some fluctuations, but one Horcrux can probably enhance Dark Magic by about ten percent."

"Moreover, Horcruxes can also increase resistance to Dark Magic. When attacked with Dark Magic, the power of the attacker will also be weakened. One Horcrux can probably increase resistance by about twenty percent."

Hearing Headmaster Dumbledore's words, Light's mind went blank with excitement! Twenty percent for one, then it would be a hundred percent for five!

Light murmured involuntarily, momentarily dazed, "What should we do?"

Seeing Light in a daze, Headmaster Dumbledore knocked on the table to wake him up.

"It's just resistance to Dark Magic. It's not a big deal! On the contrary, he has a major weakness," Headmaster Dumbledore said calmly.
