Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Robbery

"Brother Yi! Can I ask why you never attack in a straight line? Isn't the straight line the shortest distance? That way, you can attack the opponent at the fastest speed!" Although Shanks looked out of breath, he still respectfully asked Fang Yi beside him.

Bucky, who was lying on the ground beside them, also took the opportunity to look over.

"You're right. The straight line is the shortest distance. In a fight against an enemy, attacking in a straight line is the most labor - saving and effective way! But maybe because I'm a long - range attacker, whenever my figure is exposed in an open line of sight, I subconsciously don't move in a straight line. This is kind of an old habit of mine! I just feel it's safer this way!" Fang Yi replied with a smile.

Since Shanks and Bucky learned about Fang Yi's thoughts, they started to actively approach him.

Now, except when Fang Yi was training his archery, the three of them did all the other training together.

Moreover, Shanks and Bucky really acknowledged Fang Yi as the leader of the trio. Whenever they had questions, they would ask Fang Yi first instead of Rayleigh.

Fang Yi didn't know why these two guys had such a change, but it seemed quite nice to have two followers.

"I see. Brother Yi is really thoughtful!" Shanks nodded in approval after hearing this.

"Bucky, are you rested? If so, let's continue!" Fang Yi smiled and shouted to Bucky lying there.

"Humph, I've already figured out how to counter your move just now. Watch me this time!" Bucky did a backflip and got up directly.

"Bang, bang, bang..."

"Dong, dong, dong..."

As Bucky got up, the three of them started to fight in a real free - for - all fight again. It wasn't Shanks and Bucky against Fang Yi, but a real free - for - all fight.

In the evening, after finishing the training, Fang Yi went back to the cabin to take a shower. When he came out, he did a ten - draw lottery.

Now he didn't draw every two days. After all, there weren't always skills on the lottery wheel every day. Even if there were skills, he couldn't win them. If there was nothing good, the lottery was just a waste.

Today, there was a fragment of the Sun - shooting Bow on the lottery wheel. Now he only needed one more fragment to synthesize the bow. So even though there was no skill on today's wheel, he decided to try his luck. Anyway, there were still nearly twenty lottery tickets in his backpack, so using ten of them didn't matter.

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining..."

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining a fragment of the Sun - shooting Bow *1!"

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining..."

Seeing that this tentative ten - draw actually got him the fragment of the Sun - shooting Bow, Fang Yi was a bit stunned. In fact, he had already prepared himself for not winning. He had just tried it out on a whim, but unexpectedly, he really got it.

According to his experience, the closer it was to the end, the harder it was to complete the set. This quite aligned with the concept of a certain shopping app from his previous life.

Unexpectedness always came so suddenly. After opening the backpack interface and combining the ten fragments of the Sun - shooting Bow, a complete Sun - shooting Bow appeared in Fang Yi's hand.

"Sun-Shooting Bow: A well-crafted bow and arrow that allows the possessor to shoot arrows farther and faster! It bestows upon you the courage to chase the sun!"

"What a great bow!" Looking at the Sun-Shooting Bow in his hand, Fang Yi's eyes couldn't help but light up. Holding it in his hand, even without pulling the bowstring, Fang Yi could feel a warm sensation coming from the bow.

However, soon, Fang Yi became a bit distressed. He couldn't take out this bow and arrow to use them because he couldn't explain where they came from.

So, after admiring it for a while, Fang Yi reluctantly put the bow and arrow into his backpack.

His backpack could only store items produced by the system. The bow and arrow he was currently using couldn't be stored in the backpack because this bow and arrow was made by Yamon, not produced by the system.

When they reached the next island, Fang Yi just needed to find an excuse to leave alone. When he came back, he could take out the Sun-Shooting Bow and say he bought it on the island. That would solve the problem.

"Boom!"

Just as Fang Yi was still checking the other items he had just drawn, suddenly an explosion sounded, making him stunned for a moment. Then he quickly rushed out of the cabin and ran towards the deck.

"What's going on!" When Fang Yi reached the deck, he immediately found Shanks and Buggy, who were looking excited, and asked.

"I don't know. It seems that the merchant ship over there is firing at us!" Buggy looked like he was ready to have a big fight and laughed.

"The merchant ship is firing at us?"

Fang Yi couldn't believe his ears. He looked up at the pirate flag fluttering high on the mast. Seeing that the flag was still fluttering intact on the mast, he was immediately a bit speechless.

They were pirates. Generally, apart from naval warships that would actively attack them, only those pirates who thought they could defeat them would make a move.

It was the first time he had been attacked by a merchant ship.

"Probably it's a merchant ship that was robbed by pirates and we ran into it before they had time to hoist the pirate flag!" Rayleigh beside him said with a faint smile.

Many pirates would take over merchant ships after robbing them. Merchant ships were often better than ordinary pirate ships. So they would turn the seized merchant ships into new pirate ships, saving a lot of money on ship-building.

Fang Yi and the others suddenly realized. They had thought the other side were really merchants!

But when the two sides engaged in close combat, they found that the other side was really a merchant ship.

"Captain!" Rayleigh looked at Roger with a grim face and said, "It's a slave ship!"

"Ah~ yes!" Roger pulled down the brim of his straw hat, making it hard to see his face. He nodded and said, "It seems they thought we were coming to rob them, so they attacked us first!"

"So what should we do now?" Jabba looked at Roger and asked.

Under normal circumstances, there must be big forces behind this kind of slave ship. As pirates, they wouldn't conflict with these people in many cases.

Hearing Jabba's question, Roger put one hand on his straw hat, grinned widely, and said with a smile, "Take them down!"

"Okay then!"

"Captain!" The surrounding crew members, as if they had expected this, loudly echoed one by one.

"Damn it... Do you know who we are? How dare you attack us?" But just as everyone was getting ready for battle, a guy on the opposite ship who looked like a manager or the leader shouted loudly in this direction.

"What a pain! Petum, shut that guy up!" Rayleigh said with a slight smile and a look of disdain on his face.

"Understood, Mr. Rayleigh!" The sniper Petum immediately aimed his gun at the other side.

When the other side noticed Petum's action, their faces instantly changed and they tried to flee.

"Bang!"

A gunshot rang out, and blood splattered in the air. The little leader who was trying to dodge fell to the ground and didn't get up.

Petum's gunshot was like a signal. Rayleigh and Jappa directed the crew to attack the merchant ship.

"You two, follow behind me! Don't wander off. Remember, without my order, don't leave my side!" Fang Yi grabbed Shanks and Buggy, who were following the main group, and said sternly.

"It's just a merchant ship. What's the fuss?" Buggy said nonchalantly.

"If you can't do it, stay on the ship! Interns aren't qualified to pick and choose. Can you do it?" Fang Yi didn't waste any words with Buggy and just asked directly.

"Alright, alright~ I'll listen to you. Since you're the boss now. When I become the boss one day, I'll definitely make you stay on the ship and miss out on all the treasures!" Buggy said helplessly when he saw Fang Yi being serious.

"Good. Shanks, keep an eye on Buggy. You don't need to fight. Just follow behind me!" After Fang Yi said that, he directly boarded the enemy ship by swinging across.

As interns, they would have to stay on the ship to guard it if they were in a battle against pirates, the navy, or other hostile forces.

But now it was a matter of robbing a merchant ship. So, except for those who didn't want to go, everyone could participate in the robbery. And the treasures they snatched, except for a portion that they had to hand over to the captain according to the agreement, the rest could be counted as their own property.

Moreover, Roger didn't care much about treasures and rarely actively robbed merchant ships. So, this was Fang Yi's first time participating in such a thing.

However, he had been here for almost three months, and he had already figured out some of the rules that pirates had to follow.

"Hurry up and come here!" After Fang Yi reached the merchant ship, he didn't immediately join the attack. Instead, he guarded the passage to make sure that Shanks and Buggy behind him could come over safely.

"Be careful!" Shanks, who was still in the air, saw an enemy appear behind Fang Yi and seemed to be planning a sneak attack. But he and Buggy were still in the air and couldn't offer any help, so they could only shout to warn Fang Yi.

However, Fang Yi had already noticed the enemy when they appeared. Although he was facing Shanks, in fact, most of his attention was on what was behind him.

So, before Shanks even opened his mouth, Fang Yi had already started to turn around. By the time Shanks finished speaking, an arrow had pierced the opponent's heart.

"Are you okay?" Shanks and Bucky rushed over as soon as they landed and asked.

"I'm fine. Follow me! Don't go near the captain. Come with me! Let's head straight for the cabin!" Holding his bow and arrow, Fang Yi said nothing more and led the two of them straight towards the cabin.

He knew exactly how destructive Roger could be in battle. So, in every fight, the most important thing wasn't to defeat the enemy but to remember to stay far away from Roger and the others. Otherwise, one could easily get caught in the cross - fire.

Hearing Fang Yi's words, Bucky's eyes lit up. He suddenly thought it wouldn't be so bad to follow Fang Yi. Let the other crew members handle the battle here. What they should do now was to go search for treasure first!

Shanks, however, hesitated. Obviously, he wanted to stay here to assist the other crew members rather than go looking for treasure at this time.

"Shanks! Let's go!" Fang Yi glanced at Shanks and shouted, frowning.

After a moment of hesitation, Shanks chose to follow Fang Yi towards the cabin. Before they came, he had promised to follow Fang Yi's instructions once they got here. So, even though he was a bit reluctant, he still went with Fang Yi.

The reason Fang Yi chose the cabin was quite simple. It wasn't, as Bucky thought, to look for treasure. Instead, it was to find an opportunity to separate from the two of them and then take out the Sun - Shooting Bow, so that he could use it without a doubt.

What they didn't know was... this ship was a slave ship!
