Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: A Rideable Flying Summon, Get!

(T/N: The chapter for your Power Stones. Thank you)

The sun shimmered on the ocean's surface as the three-masted ship sailed forward, its sails billowing in the wind. They were steadily making their way toward the borders of the Land of Fire.

At the ship's bow, Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Honoka stood hand in hand, sharing childhood stories and reminiscing about their past. Even though they had been at this for three days now, it still felt like there was no end to their conversation.

Meanwhile, on the aft deck, two crows were loudly cawing at a hawk that was chained to the ship's mast. Every now and then, they would scavenge scraps of cloth, splinters, and rusty nails from various corners of the ship, only to drop them onto the restrained hawk from above.

Their antics were the perfect display of petty triumph.

If Yamanaka Shinno hadn't explicitly forbidden them from using more disgusting tricks, these two would have already gone for the ultimate insult—right on the hawk's head.

Bound by chains around its ankles, the hawk couldn't fly away or fight back. After enduring this torment for three days, it had completely given up.

Struggling and lashing out had done nothing except encourage the crows to mock it even more.

What else could it do but surrender?

"What's the point of being so stubborn? If you just agree to follow me, you'll live a life of luxury. Isn't that better?"

Wearing oversized sunglasses and a pair of floral beach shorts from his past life, Yamanaka Shinno lounged lazily on a deck chair.

He cast a sidelong glance at the hawk, which remained slumped on the deck, silent and unmoving.

He sighed and tried again, his tone patient. "Come on, just think about it."

A weak, hoarse cry escaped from the hawk's beak.

Shinno's eyes lit up.

This was the first time in three days that the hawk had actually responded to him.

Springing up from his chair, he quickly formed a hand seal and activated the Yamanaka Clan's Mind Body Transmission Technique, linking his emotions with the hawk's.

Once more, he repeated his offer.

The hawk barely lifted its head to glance at him before tucking it back under its wing, refusing to engage.

But through the jutsu, Shinno could feel its emotions.

Was it sad? Heartbroken? Did it want to die?

No, that wasn't it.

Come on, dude. You're just going to be a summon beast. Maybe occasionally double as a flying mount. Is it really that serious?

What is this, "Give me liberty or give me death"?

"If you become my summon, you get free food and a comfortable home. Most of the time, you'll just be chilling in the summoning stable with some fine lady hawks. What's the problem?"

Shinno crouched beside the hawk and gave its wing a light pat.

The hawk suddenly whipped its head out from under its wing and let out a furious screech.

This time, the emotions flooding through their link were intense—clearer than ever before.

"You're telling me… I killed your wives? Wait… wives?! WIVES?!"

Shinno froze.

Then, without thinking, he smacked the bird on the head.

What the hell?!

He, a proud reincarnator, hadn't even dared to entertain the idea of a harem, but this damn hawk had already built one?!

Where's the justice?! Where's the law?!

…Oh, right. There's no such thing in the world of summon beasts.

Wait a second—aren't hawks supposed to be monogamous? Falcons too, for that matter.

What kind of messed-up genetic cocktail are you?!

Damn it! The world of Naruto really is a weird place!

A flood of thoughts ran through Shinno's mind as he looked at the hawk, which was glaring at him with an expression that clearly said, "I will bite a chunk out of you."

With a sigh, Shinno activated a C-rank Genjutsu: Phantom Veil.

The six raptors on Summoning Island were incredibly rare. He wasn't stupid—why would he kill any of them? They were valuable resources for Konoha. Plenty of people wanted to get their hands on them.

And once they returned to the village, the clans that had purchased female hawks would hardly object to adding a few more hatchlings to the mix.

The hawk Shinno had picked wasn't the biggest, but as the apex predator of the island, its speed and power were leagues above its peers. Any shinobi would kill to have a summon like this.

With Phantom Veil, he cloaked the hawk's vision in illusion and pulled up memories from his mental palace—specifically, images of the summoning stable, where contracted summons lived.

He even replicated the six female hawks he had seen the other day, placing them inside the stable.

"Hmm?"

The hawk tilted its head, watching the scene change before its eyes with a dumbfounded expression.

Ten minutes later…

After watching the illusion unfold, the hawk finally understood—their mates were alive and well, living in a safe and comfortable place.

And all it had to do to reunite with them was become Shinno's summon.

"Caw! Caw?"

Gone was its defeated, lifeless demeanor. The hawk's sharp gaze swept over the two crows before it turned to Shinno, squawking loudly.

Most animals with chakra-enhanced abilities had intelligence far above ordinary creatures.

While this hawk hadn't undergone any special training as a summon beast, its intellect was roughly that of a ten-year-old child.

Now that it believed Shinno's words, it no longer saw the contract as a problem—if anything, it thought it was a fantastic deal.

After all, six mates were a lot of mouths to feed!

Free food, free housing, no worries about providing for its family.

What was there to refuse?

That didn't mean it had forgotten about the last three days of humiliation, though!

The two crows, who had been preening their feathers and enjoying the show, suddenly found themselves pinned under the hawk's piercing gaze. They shuddered and huddled together, nervously peeking at Shinno for help.

"Ahem… Look, they were just scared of you. It's normal to have some feelings about that, right? As the saying goes, 'A wise hawk spares its prey, for you may meet again someday.'"

Shinno patted the hawk's wing and started sweet-talking it.

He had raised those crows for years and wasn't about to let them get wrecked.

"Caw?"

"Yes, exactly! They're tiny—hardly a mouthful. Wouldn't it be better to have them serve you instead?"

"Caw, caw!"

"Right, right. From now on, they're your little underlings. They have to obey you."

"Caw!"

"Alright, let's get this contract signed. No tricks—fair deal."

After a bit more coaxing, the hawk finally, albeit reluctantly, nodded.

Wasting no time, Shinno pulled out a blank summoning scroll from his vest and used his blood to inscribe the summoning contract.

Under his guidance, the hawk pressed its talon against the scroll, leaving a blood imprint.

The contract was complete!

"Alright! Let's get you fed and rested!"

Shinno grinned, giving the hawk's wing a firm pat.

A rideable flying summon, Get!
