Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Three Stubborn Kids and a Cunning Sensei

These Brats… Don't Know When to Stop!?

Blindfolded.

No chakra.

Only relying on his senses, Satoru effortlessly dodged every attack from the three kids, his movements flowing like a perfectly choreographed dance.

Obito roared, swinging his fist straight at Satoru, but—

Whoosh!

Satoru simply tilted his head slightly, letting Obito's punch graze past his cheek by a hair's breadth.

Immediately, Gai launched in from the left, his kick powerful enough to send dust flying everywhere.

But just like Obito…

Whoosh!

Satoru twisted his body, causing Gai's kick to miss entirely.

And of course—

Kakashi had been waiting for his moment. He lunged from behind, throwing a precise punch aimed directly at Satoru's back!

But just as it was about to land—

Satoru subtly shifted his stance, his wooden sword gently brushing against Kakashi's wrist, redirecting his strike as smoothly as flowing water.

Kakashi stumbled, losing balance!

The three kids collectively widened their eyes, unable to believe what had just happened.

"How is this happening!?"

"Why do we keep missing!?"

Determined, they gritted their teeth and charged again.

Satoru sighed.

"These kids are too stubborn. If I don't knock some sense into them, they won't stop…"

He narrowed his eyes, and then…

A rather dangerous thought crossed his mind.

"Wait… why am I just dodging?"

A mischievous smirk appeared on his lips.

"In the future, these three will be absolute powerhouses. If I don't teach them discipline now, I'll lose my chance! The best time for education is always the present!"

His eyes gleamed with newfound determination.

"Alright, kids… Brace yourselves!"

A 'Lesson' in Physical Education

Just as the three kids lunged in for another assault, Satoru suddenly countered!

His wooden sword sliced through the air like a sudden whirlwind.

— Smack!

A sharp tap landed right on Kakashi's forehead.

He stumbled back, clutching his head, shock evident in his eyes.

— Bop!

Obito took a clean strike right in the middle of his nose, sending him toppling backward.

He clutched his nose, whining:

"Grrr! My nose! Sensei hit my face!?"

— Thwack!

A precise horizontal sweep struck Gai right in the eye, leaving a perfectly visible bruise.

Instead of complaining, Gai shouted excitedly:

"This… THIS is the true feeling of combat!"

Satoru wasn't done.

With an effortless flick of his wrist, his wooden sword struck their arms, legs, and shoulders, making them jump in pain each time.

But the most terrifying part—

Not a single hit landed on areas covered by clothing.

Every strike was perfectly visible.

Kakashi held his forehead. Obito clutched his nose. Gai sported a fresh bruise on his eye.

The three of them stood frozen, realization dawning on them.

"Wait… It's like sensei intentionally targeted these spots!?"

Satoru flashed them a sly grin.

"Alright, let's end things here for today."

The three students snapped their heads toward him in disbelief.

"END IT HERE!?"

Obito, still holding his nose, yelled:

"Sensei! You definitely looked way too entertained just now!"

Satoru feigned innocence:

"Hm? Who, me? No, no, you must be imagining things."

Kakashi, expression blank, coldly stated:

"…Sensei, you looked dangerous when you were fighting."

Gai blinked, rubbing his bruise:

"But this was an amazing experience!"

Obito whipped his head around:

"AMAZING!? My nose is swollen, you maniac!"

Satoru stifled a laugh, though amusement was clearly written all over his face.

The kids glared at him, but it was obvious none of them were actually angry.

Each of them had learned a lot from this sparring session.

Under the Night Sky – A Moment of Reflection

After the intense battle, all four lay flat on the grassy field, panting heavily.

The night sky stretched above them, the moon glowing softly, stars twinkling across the horizon.

A gentle breeze carried the cool, refreshing air of the night.

Satoru exhaled slowly, then murmured:

"Moments like these… won't last forever."

The three kids turned their heads toward him.

He smiled slightly, a distant look in his eyes.

"The ninja world is cruel. You're still kids, but sooner or later, you'll be thrown into real battles."

Silence.

None of them spoke.

Satoru closed his eyes and continued:

"I just hope… you can enjoy this peaceful time for as long as possible."

Obito clenched his fists, voice quieter than usual:

"Sensei… Have you ever lost someone before?"

Satoru paused briefly, then nodded.

"…Yes."

The kids said nothing, only looking at him.

He smiled again, ruffling their hair.

"But don't worry. From now on, I'll do my best to protect all of you."

Obito's eyes widened slightly, feeling a strange warmth in his chest.

But then…

A crucial realization struck him!

"Wait, hold on! Sensei! Back when you were hitting us, you looked really excited, didn't you!?"

Satoru's body stiffened slightly before he casually gazed up at the sky.

"Hm? Who, me? No, no, you must be imagining things."

Kakashi, once again, calmly stated:

"…Sensei, you definitely had a dangerous grin back then."

Satoru remained composed:

"Obito, a true ninja doesn't hold grudges."

Obito: "…"

The three kids exchanged looks before sighing in defeat.

This day ended with an unforgettable beating and a peaceful night under the moonlit sky.
