Hello! After some personal reflection, I have decided to put the book aside.
This is due to my lack of incentive to write for now (revenue, performance, real-life assignments, ruined sleep schedules, etc), and also the accidental angsty direction I took for the villains or side characters after chapter 7. I don't want to say it goes downhill, but my treatment of the side characters (Liona, Manasseh, Adil) has heavily derailed the novel into dark-fantasy-like, which is NOT what I originally intended for the novel.
And as my first novel, which made an absurd amount of errors, learning how to plan ahead for a 'light-hearted' tone is tough! But overall, I learn a lot more than I thought from this book. I will say it did pretty well for a first novel so far.
I will find opportunities to rewrite the angsty elements from the book that I'm dissatisfied with. But for now, I sincerely wish to focus on my next project, which will be A LOT MORE light-hearted than this one.
Mark my words: I WILL RETURN TO FINISH WHAT I STARTED! There were still plot threads (eg. Infinite Dungeon, Peace Banquet, Spirit Realm Raid, Resurrection of the Tyrant) I have planned out. But I need a long break before I find the incentive again.
Thank you for accompanying me on this journey so far. For now. Please take care. Hope to see you all around for my next project!
