*Before the apparition of the MC*
The morning sun cast a golden hue over the Baharuth Empire's capital, its light spilling through the tall, arched windows of the imperial palace.
Inside, Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix sat at his well-decorated desk, meticulously scanning over parchment filled with reports from all over his dominion. The Emperor's scarlet eyes gleamed with sharp intellect as he flipped through the documents, absorbing every detail.
Today had been like any other meetings with nobles, discussions of military strategies, and the occasional playful jab from Fluder Paradyne, his loyal court wizard. Jircniv even took a short stroll through the castle's wide garden, relishing a brief moment of peace amid his heavy responsibilities.
He leaned back in his chair, fingers steepled. 'The Empire is stable.' He thought, feeling a rare sense of satisfaction. "We are slowly pushing the Re-Estize kingdom to the edge. Soon they won't have a choice but to comply."
Still, There was still a slight problem that has been mentioned in all of the reports he has read so far recently. He was kind of uncertain. It was a rare occurrence for someone like Jircniv to be uncertain about something. But it did happen this time. Still, he found peace in thinking and finding solutions, this is what he did best after all.
Yet, that peace shattered in an instant.
A loud commotion echoed from the castle's open courtyard, shouting soldiers and clanging metal. Jircniv's brows furrowed, and he rose to his feet, his crimson cloak billowing behind him as he strode to the balcony.
When he stepped outside, his gaze fell upon an unfamiliar figure surrounded by his elite guards.
The man lay on the stone pavement, eyes wide, seemingly oblivious to the weapons pointed at him. His expression flickered between confusion and intense concentration like he was distracted by something.
Jircniv's heart pounded. 'An intruder? This deep into the castle?'
He knew the strength of his forces. His knights were battle-hardened veterans, and Fluder's magical barriers were nearly impenetrable. The idea that someone could appear here, undetected, was beyond comprehension.
'Is he a spy? Or a hired assassin? But from whom, could it be the Re-Estize kingdom? No impossible, they could never hire someone as good as him. He managed to get this far undetected. The holy kingdom is out of the list too. So this leaves the Slane theocracy... But... Why...?' The emperor's mind was racing thinking of many possibilities, his hand clutching his temple.
'I need answers.' After his decision, Jircniv ordered. "Bring the intruder here, and call Fluder I need his protection immediately!"
His men sprung into action the moment his words came out.
Jircniv's jaw tightened, his sharp eyes locked onto the intruder once again, watching, analyzing. Whoever this man was, he either had unimaginable power or unimaginable luck. And Jircniv intended to find out which one it was.
*Back to the present*
The Bloody Emperor's crimson eyes locked onto me the moment I entered the throne room. His gaze was sharp enough to pierce through my skull. The guards shoved me forward, and I barely caught myself from face-planting onto the polished marble floor, I fell on my knees looking up.
'Okay, okay, don't panic. This is just the most dangerous man in the empire staring at you. No big deal.'
Jircniv leaned back on his throne, resting his chin on his hand as he studied me. Then an old man of short stature walked inside the room, and the moment he did the whole atmosphere changed, this man was capable of casting 7th-tier magic, the strongest weapon of the Baharuth empire, Fluder Paradyne.
'Never mind, this is the actual most dangerous man of the empire, great..."
The emperor ignored the old man and proceeded to ask. "Who are you?" He asked, his voice smooth but carrying an unmistakable undercurrent of danger.
My throat went dry. 'If I say the wrong thing, I'm dead.'
I cleared my throat, forcing myself to speak. "My name is uh… Kael." Not my real name, but better safe than sorry.
"Kael?" Jircniv repeated, tilting his head slightly. "And how exactly did you end up inside my castle without anyone noticing?"
'I can't exactly say a god threw me here for fun.'
"I don't know," I stammered. "I just woke up here. I swear I'm not a spy or anything!"
One of the guards slammed his gauntlet into my back, forcing me to spread on the ground. "Do not lie to His Majesty!" He barked.
Jircniv raised a hand, signaling the guard to back off. "Interesting," he muttered. "You don't look like a threat, but appearances can be deceiving."
A new notification blinked in front of me.
[Mission Generated]
Title:Stay alive
Objective:Do not getexecuted as aspy
Reward:Unlock an S-rank Summon
Failure:Execution
My blood ran cold. 'EXECUTION?! Are you kidding me?! I need to get the hell outta here.'
He was quick to think of a solution. Would it work? He wasn't sure, it all depended on his luck.
He inhaled shakily and, instead of staying silent, started talking about anything to buy time.
"W-Wait, I'm not a threat! I... I have important information! I can help you!" His voice trembled, but he forced himself to keep speaking, watching the emperor's unreadable expression.
At the same time, his mind screamed at the system.
'System! Can I use the B-rank summon now?'
[B-Rank Summon Available]
'What am I waiting for?! Summon it!'
While the system was opening it, he continued his plan. "You recently noticed an increase in the number of undead monsters right?" What I was saying was not complete bullshit, I said it for a reason. If the emperor confirmed it, it means that either Ainz recently arrived in the new world or he was already here for a while. If it doesn't concern him, then Ainz either was not here yet, or he will never arrive.
The emperor's expression immediately changed, he seemed seriously interested in this piece of information. "Go on," Jircniv said.
While he was talking, I looked at the system again.
[Name: Kurogiri]
[Rank: B rank]
[Anime: MY HERO ACADEMIA]
My heart nearly leaped out of my chest from excitement. 'Kurogiri? The warp gate guy?!'
Without hesitating, I made the call. 'Summon Kurogiri!'
A swirling vortex of black mist erupted beside me, tendrils of shadow curling through the air like living creatures. From nothingness stepped a tall, slender figure, body composed entirely of dark fog, with only the metallic collar and yellow eyes piercing through the gloom.
The soldiers froze, their instincts screaming danger.
Fluder's eyes widened, and in an instant, he began chanting an incantation, proof of his years of experience. Golden magic circles formed around his hands. The sheer pressure of his mana distorted the air.
"Protect His Majesty!" Fluder roared without hesitation, his voice filled with urgency.
I didn't give them a chance either, still lying on the ground I screamed. "Kurogiri, get me out of here! Now!"
Without hesitation, Kurogiri's body expanded, enveloping me in his black mist. The soldiers lunged forward, and Fluder's spell surged with energy, but it was too late.
"Jircniv, next time we meet I will tell you about the reason. Hopefully, it's not too late by then." While saying these words I felt a rush of cold air as the world twisted around me, and in a blink, we vanished.
Leaving behind a stunned emperor, an anxious mage, and an entire squad of baffled knights.
The courtyard fell silent and Jircniv's expression darkened.
"Find him!" The emperor ordered, voice low and sharp. "Immediately." The room cleared from all the knights leaving only the emperor and his trusted Imperial Court Wizard.
"Old man, was that..." The emperor didn't finish his sentence as Fluder confirmed. Normally no person would dare to show such disrespect as interrupting the emperor's speech, but Fluder was an exception. As the strongest mage of the Baharuth empire and their very own weapon, but also as someone who saw the emperor grow from the day he was born, naturally, there was a level of friendship/trust between these too. Some would go as far as to consider it a level of father-son relationship.
"Yes. That was indeed teleportation magic, it must be at least a 5th-tier spell." Fluder scratched his long white beard.
"You think you could kill him if a fight broke out here?" Jircniv couldn't help but be curious to know.
"Hohoho, he indeed is an interesting fellow. I couldn't sense his magic which suggests that he is a good mage. He might cause me a little trouble, but it is nothing I can't deal with Your Highness." Fluder continued pulling on his hairy face.
A smile spread on Jircniv's face, he expected such an outcome. "You'd better win if that was the case. You are our strongest weapon, we can't afford you to lose to anyone. You can imagine what would happen if such information happens to spread in the world."
"Hohoho, Such a thing is impossible Your Highness, you can rest assured."
*MC POV*
The teleportation had been rushed, and messy. We landed in a secluded forest, the gnarled roots and dense foliage cloaking us in shadows. Despite the chaos, we managed to survive unscathed not a single scratch on either of us.
I turned my head and saw Kurogiri. His body, a swirling mass of purple mist, loomed nearby, a stark contrast to the lush greenery around us. His glowing eyes, faint but piercing, observed me with unwavering focus.
'This is awkward,' I thought, crossing my arms. I had never spoken to him before. He was a summon, a tool granted to me by the system. But now, after saving my life, he stood there like a sentinel, waiting.
"…Thanks," I muttered, the words tasting foreign in my mouth. I wasn't used to gratitude, especially not towards a summon... An anime character!
Kurogiri bowed his head, the mist around him undulating with the motion. "It is my purpose to serve you, Master. Your safety is my highest priority."
His voice was smooth, reverberating with an eerie calmness.
There was no hesitation, no question. Just absolute devotion. It had to be the system's influence twisting his perception until I became the center of his existence. But he seems to keep the same personality, I remember in the anime he was quite the calm and logical person, not the talkative type, always keeping Chigaraki in check in a calm loyal manner.
I wiped the sweat from my forehead, more out of lingering stress than fatigue. "Your ability… explain it to me."
Kurogiri straightened, his mist swirling more intensely. "I possess the ability to create portals. I can transport myself and others across vast distances, provided I have a clear mental image of the destination. The portals can also be used strategically in combat, to redirect attacks or separate enemies."
I nodded slowly, piecing together the information, the same as in the anime. No buffs or nerfs. That explained how we escaped Fluder's spell. If not for Kurogiri, we'd have been incinerated on the spot.
"That's useful," I said, voice steady. "But there's a problem. The emperor knows about us, but especially you, no one can mistake you if they see you."
Kurogiri remained silent, waiting for me to continue.
"If people see a guy made of fog floating around me, they're gonna connect the dots. And I don't wanna be known as the weirdo with the mist man." I rubbed the back of my neck. "Can you… hide in my shadow or something?"
Without missing a beat, Kurogiri inclined his head. "Of course, Master. I can merge with your shadow and remain undetectable. Would you like me to do so now?"
I blinked, surprised at how easy that was. "And your abilities? Can you still use them while hidden?"
"Yes. There will be no change in my functionality," Kurogiri affirmed, his voice steady.
A heavy breath escaped me, relief seeping into my bones. That solved at least one problem. I gestured. "Do it."
Kurogiri's form dissolved like ink bleeding into paper, his mist slithering toward my feet and sinking into the darkness beneath me.
I leaned against a tree, my heart still pounding from the near-death encounter. The forest buzzed with distant insects, the faint rustle of leaves filling the void.
We had escaped without a single injury.
'This world is trying to kill me,' I thought, clenching my fists. 'I can't believe my first ever interaction here almost killed me.'
I exhaled, my body fully intact, and started thinking of my next move. Until a notification sound brought me out of my thoughts.
