My name is Haruto Yamura, a 20-year-old Holy Weapon Wielder, a member of Sacred Destiny the last line of defense against the invaders that plagued Earth.
We fought.
We bled.
And in the end… we succeeded.
We eradicated all of the Koronji Beings.
Except for one.
Or rather... I let him escape.
Because the last survivor was my own brother.
I stood over him, my Holy Weapon poised for the final strike, yet my hands trembled.
"Why, Yamato? Why did you betray me?" I asked, my voice heavy with disappointment.
He didn't answer.
Then suddenly he cast a spell.
Everything went black.
I gasped awake, my body drenched in sweat.
"What… what is happening?" I whispered, my heart racing.
The world around me felt different familiar, yet strange.
It took me a moment to realize
I was in the past.
A sinister chuckle echoed through the air.
"You won't escape this time. My trap is perfect. Hahaha!"
I froze.
That voice…
I turned sharply, my breath catching in my throat.
Yamato.
My brother stood before me, a cruel smirk on his face.
"You… I will kill you this time, you bastard!" I roared, summoning my weapon. "Holy Sword, Lancer!"
But he only laughed.
"Hahaha, don't waste your breath, dear brother. That won't work here. This is the past one I created."
Before I could react, a sharp blade pierced my chest.
I gasped, blood spilling from my lips.
"You… bas "
Everything faded to black once more.
GASP!
I jolted awake—only to find myself back in the same nightmare.
"Hello again, my sweet brother," Yamato whispered, his voice dripping with amusement.
Before I could move
Another blade pierced me.
Then again.
And again.
Twenty-four times.
Each time, I woke up only to die again.
Each time, he greeted me the same way.
"Hello, my sweet brother."
My voice barely came out. "Who…?"
He smiled. "I guess my work is done."
"What are you doing in my room?"
"Nothing," he mused. "Just saying hi."
Then, he left the room.
GASP!
A sharp pain throbbed in my chest, as if I had just been pierced by a blade. The unbearable sensation made me clutch my shirt, gasping for air.
Yet, as I forced myself up, the glowing screen of my phone caught my eye.
8:00 AM.
My eyes widened.
"Ahh! It's time for school!"
Despite the lingering pain, I rushed to get ready and dashed out the door.
As I stepped into the classroom, a familiar voice greeted me.
"Heyo, Haruto! Good morning!"
I turned to see Yahiko, my best friend, grinning at me.
"Good morning, Yahiko," I muttered, still feeling lightheaded.
I rubbed my temples before suddenly remembering something.
"Did you do the homework?" I asked.
Yahiko blinked, confused. "What homework?"
I frowned. "Science homework, you fool."
"Eh? When did they give us homework?" He tilted his head.
"Yesterday. Sir told us," I reminded him.
He scratched his head. "I don't remember that."
I sighed. "Nice. Now you're gonna get scolded."
Yahiko chuckled. "What about you? Did you do it?"
I smirked. "Of course!"
I opened my book, fully expecting to see my neatly written homework.
But
It was gone.
My stomach dropped.
"Wait… where is it?" I mumbled, flipping through the pages frantically.
I remembered doing it. I was sure of it.
Yet, the pages were empty.
Yahiko burst out laughing.
"Hahaha! What a liar!"
I stared at him in horror. "Now we're both getting scolded!"
He patted my shoulder. "Relax, Haruto, it's fine. I didn't do it either."
Minutes later, the teacher stood at the front, collecting homework.
"Yahiko, your homework?"
"Yes, sir."
I froze.
My eyes widened as I watched Yahiko casually hand over a perfectly completed assignment.
I stared at him in deadpan shock.
"Yahiko, you bastard."
He smirked. "Haha, who do you think I am?"
Then, the teacher turned to me.
"Haruto, your homework?"
I stammered, trying to explain why it was missing, but
Nothing worked.
I got scolded.
And to make things worse
"Write a letter of explanation," the teacher ordered.
I sighed. "Okay, sir."
Then suddenly
A searing pain exploded in my head.
A migraine so intense it felt like my skull was being ripped apart.
And then
Everything went black.
When I woke up, I was lying in the nurse's office.
I slowly turned my head
To see Tsubasa sitting beside me.
"Tsubasa?" I croaked.
She jolted, her cheeks flushing red.
"I was worried… so I came to check on you," she admitted, looking away.
"Oh… thank you," I murmured, my voice drained of energy.
She stood up quickly. "Okay then… see you."
She hurried out of the room.
Suddenly
"HARUTOOOOOOO!"
The door slammed open, and Yahiko rushed in, dramatically crying.
"I thought you were dead!" he wailed.
"Shut up, Yahiko," I groaned.
With a grin, he shoved a bag into my hands.
"Here, I bought you some snacks."
I blinked in surprise. "Oh… thanks."
He plopped down beside me. "What happened, man? You just collapsed in class."
I rubbed my temples, the headache still lingering.
"My head… It felt like it was going to explode. It still hurts."
He nodded. "Okay then, just rest, Haruto. Get well soon."
Then, of course
He dramatically cried again.
The nurse entered the room.
"I've contacted your parents. They'll be here soon to pick you up."
I nodded. "Alright. Thank you for informing me."
A while later, my parents arrived and took me home.
The second I stepped into my room, I collapsed onto my bed.
And slept for twelve hours straight.
It felt as if I had just returned from a battlefield.
