Sienna stared at the locked door long after the werewolf had left, her mind racing. The weight of his words pressed against her chest. Nothing goes in without being taken. And nothing comes out without a price.
Her hands curled into fists at her sides.
Kael ran a hand over his face, exhaling sharply. "I don't like this," he muttered. "Sealed? What the hell does that even mean?"
Sienna swallowed, her throat dry. "It means we might have brought something out with us."
Kael's gaze snapped to hers, sharp and wary. "Something?"
She nodded, her thoughts running in circles. "Think about it. We left the cursed forest alive when no one else ever has. We didn't just escape. Something let us go. And now the Alpha's waiting to see what happens next."
Kael's lips pressed into a thin line. "Great. So we're either cursed, possessed, or just really damn lucky."
Sienna shot him a look. "I wouldn't bet on the last one."
