Chapter 55 - Spatial Exploration

After rewatching the less-than-five-minute video, Xu Mo was left speechless. It seemed that unless absolutely necessary, he should refrain from using the space teleportation ability of the "Falling Feather Crow" again.

Once could be a coincidence, but twice? That was hard to ignore...

Now that he had brought up the middle-aged man, Xu Mo suddenly remembered that this "generous" red-named individual had left behind a pile of "spoils" waiting for him to deal with. Seizing the opportunity while no one was home, he pulled out the items he had picked up last night from his drawer and laid them out one by one on the bed.

Despite appearing numerous, the so-called spoils only consisted of three things: a brand-new latest-model Apple smartphone, a thick stack of cash totaling around five thousand yuan, and a small pile of Doomsday Shards—twelve or thirteen in various colors.

There had also been some bank cards and credit cards, but since he didn't have the passwords and they could be easily traced by the police, Xu Mo had burned them along with the man's clothes last night.

Though it was money from a dead man, Xu Mo felt no guilt about taking it—after all, the guy had nearly killed him. With a wallet stuffed full of cash and the latest smartphone in hand, he couldn't help but feel a rare sense of wealth and extravagance.

However, these were just material possessions. What truly intrigued Xu Mo were the Doomsday Shards, now reset to their unactivated state.

A total of thirteen shards lay on the bed. If he counted the red shard he had found in the man's clothing last night and used for healing, that meant the middle-aged man had dropped a total of fourteen shards—two more than what Xu Mo currently possessed.

Among the thirteen shards, the red enhancement-type ones were the most numerous—an impressive five in total. The remaining eight included two orange, two yellow, one cyan, one green, and two blue shards.

A major haul indeed...

Xu Mo didn't spend much time thinking about how to deal with these shards. Unlike Du Chang, he didn't have to worry about daily necessities—he wasn't desperate enough to sell Doomsday Shards for money. For him, the priority was to strengthen himself as quickly as possible to guard against future attacks like last night's.

Since physical enhancement was the foundation of all other improvements, Xu Mo decided to start with the red enhancement-type shards for his next major power boost.

Using a paper cutter from the drawer, he made a small cut on his arm, just enough to draw blood. Then, one by one, he integrated the five red shards into the wound, enduring the overwhelming sensation of activation as his consciousness quickly sank into the Shard Space.

At this moment, his Shard Space resembled a miniature galaxy. The thirteen original shards occupied their own corners, floating in what seemed like an endless void, each pulsing with its own unique rhythm in six different colors.

Since fusing with these shards, Xu Mo had never taken the time to observe their arrangement within the Shard Space. Now, taking advantage of this opportunity, he realized that their seemingly chaotic positioning actually contained a hidden order.

The six red shards clustered together on one side of the space, automatically dividing into four groups based on their unique flashing patterns. They were close to each other but did not interact.

With a simple mental probe, Xu Mo could easily identify their effects: one shard enhanced muscle explosiveness, another improved physical durability, while two others boosted neural reflexes and brain capacity, respectively.

By counting the shards, it was clear that the one he had used for healing last night had enhanced his neural reflexes.

The orange linkage-type shard was the only one in constant motion within the space. Like a satellite, it orbited the red shard representing muscle explosiveness, connected by a barely perceptible fine thread.

The yellow and green shards floated alone in separate corners, seemingly unremarkable.

The two cyan shards hovered near each other, flickering in an eerie, ghostly manner.

Lastly, the two blue shards pulsed in sync with his heartbeat, almost as if they were alive.

After examining his existing shards, Xu Mo turned his attention to the five new red enhancement shards.

Red Doomsday Shards had completely random enhancement effects, and their categories couldn't be chosen. It was even possible for multiple shards to stack onto the same enhancement. It was said that this was influenced by one's natural physique—just like how the violent Sister Chang Zitong's enhancements were all concentrated on muscle explosiveness and body durability.

Whether lucky or unlucky, Xu Mo suddenly noticed that his natural physique seemed to be quite balanced. As the five new red shards drifted closer to the existing red ones, they were evenly distributed—one was absorbed by the brain capacity shard, one by the neural reflex shard, another by the body durability shard, while the remaining two merged into the muscle explosiveness shard.

Upon exiting the Shard Space, Xu Mo immediately felt the surge of raw power within his body.

Due to the diminishing returns of Doomsday Shard enhancements, this time his muscle explosiveness had only increased by about 70% of the previous boost, body durability by 50%, and brain capacity and neural reflexes by a mere 20%. However, these percentages were built upon an already superhuman physique—even a mere 10% improvement would be an impossible feat for an ordinary person.

Now, his physical stats had skyrocketed to an inhuman level:

1.7 times stronger than a special forces soldier.

Twice as powerful as a professional athlete.

Four times that of an average person.

At this moment, Xu Mo was nothing short of a superhuman!

Feeling the overwhelming strength coursing through his body, his confidence swelled like never before. He was certain that if another assassin of last night's caliber came for him, he could overpower them with sheer physical might alone.

The next step in his enhancement left him momentarily hesitant. After some careful thought, he decided to activate the yellow and green object-type shards first, as they had the lowest chance of yielding useless results.

He started with the only green artifact-type shard, allowing it to merge into his wound. As he opened his eyes, a flash of green light appeared in his hand—revealing a twenty-centimeter-square white box with a crank handle on the side.

"What the hell?! What is this thing? It looks like… a shaved ice machine? Could there be some kind of hidden function?" Xu Mo was utterly baffled by the bizarre item.

His expectations were soon shattered as he conducted a series of tests. In the end, it turned out that the white box was, indeed, just a shaved ice machine. If it had any special ability, it was that it could operate without electricity or manual effort—all it required was for ice to be placed inside.

Xu Mo felt like crying. What the hell was he supposed to do with this thing? Was he meant to make shaved ice in his free time between battles?!
