Chapter 18 - You call this training?! [2]

___ 1 month later

Lucian sat in a meditative pose, his concentration was at its peak right now. Alstair just stared at him while he rubbed the bruises he had gotten from the training earlier.

He saw Lucian concentrating his mana and enveloping his whole body with it. As if that wasn't enough, he could see that he wasn't just coating his body with mana, but he was using his wind element to do something.

'What is he even doing? He has been on it for a few days now.' Alstair thought as he saw the sweat beads falling from Lucian's head and his shirt being drenched in sweat.

After a few minutes, Lucian opened his eyes and looked at his palms, clenching and unclenching them.

"What are you doing? " Alstair asked with genuine curiosity.

He looked at his face and contemplated whether he should tell him or not, but when he saw those shining, curious eyes of Alstair, he sighed and spoke, " I am trying to create a defensive skill."

"I am not quite there, but I've figured out the concept for it. It's like a forcefield. Using my wind mana to envelope my body, I want to create a layer such that attacks would either be absorbed by that field or repulse it back."

"The concept itself is easy enough, but to do it practically is difficult. Most other wind users use either the repulsion force or absorption, but I am trying to combine both of them into one field. As you know, it's almost impossible to combine two opposite forces, so it's taking me quite some time to figure out how to harmonise both of these forces."

"And if i succeed in doing this, not only would it be a great defense for me, but if i also embue my sword with it, i can create a vacuum of sort that can neglect the defense of others and penetrate them straight on," lucian explained his idea to Alstair who gave him a look of understanding as he went on a thought position by resting his chin on his fingers and nodded vigorously.

"I see," Alstair said.

Sigh.

"You didn't understand it, did you? Forget it, I don't think I can do it without the buff of my second star of the ordination, or maybe it would take the third star too. My mana control ain't up to that level yet, nor is my mana pool." Lucian again started to think about his options.

'I don't even know what my ordination is anymore and what kind of buff it would give me...if this new ordination of mine is worse than Axiom  or any other currently present six ordinates, excluding axiom….this skill that i am trying to make might take me to unlock all of my stars or even worse it might never be created.'

'Why the heck do I have to be the one to suffer like this?!' Lucian thought as he started groaning internally.

'Should I ask Zeydris to help me? And tell him about this ordination of mine? Would he know something? I mean, he does know about Rishiv's current status, which even we seven clans and the central government couldn't find. There might be a slight possibility that he knows about this ordination.'

'There ain't a problem in giving this a shot, I guess. Alright, I'll ask him tomorrow after training.'

"Hey, I am gonna sleep for a while." Lucian looked at Alstair and said.

"Hmm. Okay, I'll call it a day too, I guess." Alstair replied as he saw Lucian going to his room. Alstair, too, stood up and started heading to his own room for some well-deserved rest.

____ The next day, after the training session.

"Both of you go and get some rest. That's it for today." Zeydris said as he started to leave.

"Umm, Sir. I have something to ask you about." Lucian called Zeydris as he followed him.

"Hmmm, sure, go on ahead," Zeydris said.

But before Lucian could say anything to him, he turned to look at Alstair, who was lying flat on the ground, his face swollen from the beatings he received.

As if following Lucian's gaze and understanding it, he said, "Follow me."

Lucian nodded and followed him quietly.

They soon arrived at a field in the centre of the ruined town. On the way, Lucian didn't miss the chance to look around the ruined town, taking in every piece of information that he could.

When Zeydris stopped walking and looked at Lucian, urging him to speak up, Lucian hesitated for a bit but asked the question nonetheless.

"Would you happen to know anything about ordinates and other Myriarch's aside from the seven in the overworld?"

This question caught Zeydris off guard, but soon a small smirk was seen on his face.

"And here I was wondering when you would ask about that, huh." He replied.

"So you do know something about me or, more specifically, this new ordination of mine. I guess that explains why you rescued me and took me in." Lucian said as he narrowed his eyes and looked at Zeydris.

"Yes, I do. And if you want me to spill the tea on it, you will have to wait for some time. And yes, you are correct, the reason I took you in was due to that ordination of yours." Zeydris said.

"I see. So, if you won't tell me anything right now, then there is no point in pressing you about it. But do you happen to know anything about a Mysterious voice?" Lucian said.

Hearing Lucian's question, Zeydris froze for a second, and a frown appeared on his face. "Can you describe this voice or where you heard it?"

Lucian contemplated but nodded in the end. Then he started to recount the events as to how he met that weird voice or figure, but he kept it vague, not giving too much information.

"....I see. So he  revealed himself to you, huh?" Zeydris muttered.

"Do you know who that was?" Lucian asked seriously.

"Of course I do. He is the owner of the ordination that you possess now, a Myriarch. And ….an old friend of mine." Zeydris told.

"This is as much information as I can give you for now. I'll reveal more to you when I think you are ready to know about it." He continued.

"And I think the reason you asked me all these is cause you want to develop that skill that you have been trying to use in our training session. Am I correct?" Zeydris asked.

"Yes," Lucian answered straightforwardly.

"Hmmm, okay, I'll help you out in that thing when we start our mana training lessons. Try to refine it as much as you can in the meantime. You can leave now. As you know, no monsters come to this ruined town. You won't find them unless you cross the border of this town; it's safe for you to return." Zeydris dismissed Lucian.

Lucian just stood there for a second and nodded as he turned back and started to trace back the direction he had come from.

'There is no point in pressing him; he won't tell me anything unless it's the right time or he deems me worthy of it. And it's not like I can use a no-brainer thing and rush at him and use force to make him spit out the answers.' Lucian thought as he was heading back.
