Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Last Sanctuary

The Holy Kingdom's survivors fled under the cover of night.

Their once-mighty army had been shattered. Their strongest warriors had been consumed by the Abyss. And now, the remnants of their faith clung desperately to a single hope—Sanctus Solaris.

A city untouched by war. A place where the Light still reigned supreme.

Their final sanctuary.

But the Abyss was coming.

And Oscar would not let them escape.

---

The Abyss Marches

Oscar stood at the center of his domain, feeling the pulsing darkness expand beneath his feet. The land itself had transformed into a living abyss, devouring everything in its path.

His power was no longer limited to himself.

It was everywhere.

"Selene," he called, his voice echoing through the void.

She appeared in an instant, stepping from the shadows. "Your command?"

"The survivors," Oscar said. "They run to their last stronghold. We will not allow them respite."

Selene smirked. "Shall I take my assassins and carve a path through their ranks?"

Oscar nodded. "Do it. But leave some alive. I want them to know that running is useless."

Selene disappeared, vanishing into the darkness.

Darius and Aldric approached next, their abyssal auras pulsing with raw energy.

"The army is prepared," Darius rumbled. "We move at your word."

Oscar's abyssal eyes gleamed.

"Then let us end this holy farce once and for all."

---

The Holy Capital Prepares

High Priestess Elara stood before the last remaining leaders of the Holy Kingdom.

King Alistair, his once-proud face now aged by loss and fear.

The remnants of the Seraphim Order, now leaderless, broken.

The royal council, scrambling for solutions.

"The Abyss will reach us within days," Elara said, her voice firm. "If we do not act now, Sanctus Solaris will fall."

King Alistair clenched his fists. "We still have our final weapon, do we not?"

Elara nodded.

Deep beneath the Holy Capital lay a secret known only to the highest members of the faith.

A weapon of divine origin.

A sealed power meant to be unleashed only in the most desperate of times.

The Celestial Guardian.

A being forged by the gods themselves.

A being powerful enough to rival the Abyss.

"Then we have no choice," the king declared. "We must awaken it."

The council murmured in agreement, but fear lingered in their eyes.

For the Guardian had not been summoned in over a thousand years.

And no one knew if it would still heed their call.

---

Selene's Hunt

The Holy Kingdom's refugees fled through the mountains, their breath ragged, their bodies weak.

"Keep moving!" one knight urged. "The capital is just ahead!"

But the shadows whispered around them.

Selene watched from above, perched on a cliffside. Her crimson eyes glowed with satisfaction.

"Pathetic," she whispered.

With a flick of her wrist, she signaled her assassins.

Dark figures descended upon the fleeing knights.

The massacre was swift.

Blades flashed. Blood stained the snow.

But Selene left a handful alive, just as Oscar commanded.

"Run," she whispered to them, stepping over the corpses of their comrades. "Tell your precious High Priestess that the Abyss is coming. And nothing will save you."

She let them go.

Because terror was far more useful than slaughter.

---

The Awakening

Deep beneath the Holy Capital, within the ancient catacombs, the ritual began.

High Priestess Elara stood before a colossal stone door, her hands raised in prayer. Golden sigils flickered to life, ancient runes glowing with divine energy.

"By the Light, by the Will of the Gods, we call upon you!"

The ground trembled.

A golden crack formed in the door's surface.

The air grew heavy, thick with divine power.

Something stirred on the other side.

A deep, resonant voice echoed through the chamber.

"Who dares disturb my slumber?"

Elara bowed deeply.

"The Holy Kingdom calls upon you, Celestial Guardian. The Abyss threatens to consume all. We beg of you—rise once more!"

For a moment, silence.

Then—

The door shattered.

Blinding light erupted from within.

A towering figure stepped forth, clad in radiant gold, wings stretching wide. Its presence alone banished the darkness in the chamber.

The Celestial Guardian had awakened.

And for the first time since the war began—

The Abyss had met its match.

---

Celestial Wrath

The moment the Celestial Guardian awakened, a pulse of divine energy swept across the Holy Capital.

The once-dim streets of Sanctus Solaris blazed with holy fire. The sigils on the city walls glowed, reinforced with power unseen for centuries.

For the first time since the Abyss's march began—hope returned to the hearts of the faithful.

---

The Guardian's Gaze

The Celestial Guardian stood at the heart of the ritual chamber, its golden armor gleaming with celestial radiance.

Its eyes—twin orbs of molten light—fell upon the High Priestess.

"You have awakened me," it said, its voice deep, ancient, unwavering. "Why?"

Elara knelt before it, her hands clasped in reverence.

"The Abyss threatens to consume all. The Holy Kingdom is on the brink of ruin." She raised her head, desperation in her eyes. "You are our last hope."

The Guardian turned its gaze toward the heavens.

It saw the Abyss.

The twisted darkness spreading across the land. The corrupted souls, the endless hunger.

The Guardian's wings flared, golden light cascading from its form.

"The Balance must be restored," it declared.

It turned back to Elara.

"Gather your warriors," the Guardian commanded. "Sanctus Solaris will not fall this day."

The final battle had begun.

---

Oscar's Warning

Far beyond the Holy Capital, Oscar stood upon the blackened plains of his Abyssal Domain.

His power had reached unimaginable heights.

But he felt it.

A disturbance.

A force opposite to his own.

"The Light dares to resist?" Oscar mused, his voice filled with amusement.

Selene appeared beside him, her crimson eyes narrowed. "The Celestial Guardian has awakened."

Oscar's abyssal aura pulsed. "Good."

Selene raised an eyebrow. "Good?"

Oscar smirked. "I've crushed everything in my path. But I have yet to face a true challenge."

He extended his hand. Shadows twisted, forming a pulsing black sphere of pure abyssal energy.

"Let the Guardian come," Oscar said, his voice a dark promise. "I will show it what true power is."

Behind him, the Abyssal Army roared.

The final war was about to begin.

---

The March to War

The Holy Kingdom's remaining forces gathered within the city walls.

Knights adorned in golden armor stood at the ready. Priests whispered prayers, their staves glowing with divine energy.

At the forefront stood General Varkos, his blade reforged in celestial fire.

Beside him, the High Priestess raised her hands.

"Today, we do not run," she declared. "Today, we fight."

Above them, the Celestial Guardian ascended into the sky.

Its wings spread wide.

Its golden spear burned with the wrath of the gods.

The Guardian pointed its spear toward the Abyss.

And with a single, earth-shaking command—

"March!"

The Holy Kingdom's last army surged forward.

---

The Abyss Awakens

Oscar watched from his throne of shadows.

The Celestial Guardian had made its move.

He smiled.

"Aldric," Oscar called.

The former knight-turned-abyssal general knelt. "My lord?"

"You will lead the first wave."

Aldric grinned. "As you command."

Oscar then turned to Selene.

"Ensure the Light's hope dies screaming."

Selene vanished into the darkness.

Oscar stood, his abyssal power cracking the earth beneath him.

The final confrontation was here.

And the Abyss would reign supreme.

---

The Light's Last Stand

The heavens burned as the Celestial Guardian led the Holy Kingdom's forces across the ruined plains.

Their golden banners flared in the wind, holy hymns resonated through the battlefield, and divine flames surged from their weapons.

This was not a mere battle.

This was war against the Abyss itself.

---

Abyssal Preparation

From atop his throne, Oscar observed the approaching army.

The Celestial Guardian shone like a sun of divine wrath, a force unseen in eons.

But Oscar did not fear it.

He welcomed it.

Standing beside him, Selene smirked.

"They're desperate."

Oscar nodded. "Good. Desperation makes people reckless."

Aldric, now fully embraced by the Abyss, knelt before them. His once-bright armor was now charred black, pulsating with unholy energy.

"Shall we begin?" he asked, abyssal hunger in his eyes.

Oscar raised his hand.

The Abyss stirred.

Torrents of black fire erupted across the battlefield.

Tens of thousands of abyssal warriors emerged, their bodies twisted mockeries of life—knights whose faith had shattered, priests who had lost their gods, soldiers who had surrendered their souls.

And at the heart of it all…

Oscar himself.

"Let them come," he declared. "And let them die."

---

The Celestial Guardian Descends

With a single beat of its massive wings, the Celestial Guardian descended onto the battlefield.

The ground trembled beneath its arrival.

Its golden spear crackled with celestial fire, radiating an aura that banished darkness itself.

Oscar stepped forward, abyssal energy coiling around him like living shadows.

The two locked eyes.

"Abyssal King," the Celestial Guardian intoned, its voice echoing like divine thunder. "You have defied the natural order. You have twisted souls, devoured light, and corrupted the world itself."

Oscar chuckled. "You make it sound so bad."

The Guardian raised its spear. "I have come to end you."

Oscar spread his arms wide. "Then try."

---

Clash of Titans

The world shattered as they collided.

The Celestial Spear met the Abyssal Blade, sending shockwaves that tore the sky asunder.

Holy fire raged.

Darkness writhed.

The battlefield became a storm of divine and abyssal forces.

Selene clashed with High Priestess Elara, their magics colliding in bursts of crimson and gold.

Aldric faced General Varkos, the former comrades now enemies on opposite sides of fate.

Thousands perished within minutes.

And yet—Oscar only grew stronger.

With every strike, every soul devoured, every knight that fell—his abyssal core evolved.

The Celestial Guardian realized too late.

This was not a battle Oscar intended to win through brute force.

This was a trap.

A battlefield where only the Abyss could thrive.

And as the Guardian's divine light began to wane…

Oscar smiled.

"Now," he whispered.

And the Abyss swallowed the light whole.
