Chapter 47 - 47 - Farewell to Clark! Burial on the Moon’s Far Side! Back Home!

Whoosh!

Clark flew to Azuma's side, his gaze settling on Zod's corpse. He couldn't help but let out a sigh.

"If he hadn't been so stubborn, he wouldn't have had to die."

Clark said with a heavy sigh.

"Zod was a born general. He'd give everything for Krypton. This end was inevitable for him," Azuma replied, his eyes drifting to a countdown timer in his vision.

Just moments ago—

After the system notified him of the mission achievement, it also informed him he could stay in this world for another 24 hours.

After that, he'd be forcibly ejected.

The good news?

Azuma could choose one personal item to take with him.

It could be a pile of gold.

A car.

Even a spaceship!

However—

The only ship left in this world was the Kryptonian scout vessel that had crashed in Metropolis.

And that thing was already half-wrecked.

Plus, Azuma had no storage gear. Bringing it back to the anime multiverse would crush his house in an instant.

So, obviously, he wasn't picking a busted spaceship.

As for gold or cars—

Azuma didn't want those either.

Instead, he chose to take his armor.

More good news—

The system considered both the inner and outer layers of his Kryptonian battle suit as one complete set.

Like a three-piece suit.

It counted as a single item.

He could take it all!

"Here, Zod's corpse is yours to handle."

Azuma handed the body to Clark.

"We should give him a proper burial," Clark said.

"Up to you," Azuma replied.

Hearing this, Clark suddenly looked at him. "You're leaving?"

"Whoops, you caught me." Azuma nodded. "Yeah, the crisis is over. You mentioned wanting to search the universe for other Kryptonians someday, but it looks like you're tied up here for now. How about I take that trip for you instead?"

"There's no rush, you know," Clark said, a hint of reluctance in his voice.

"No worries. I was planning a little trip anyway. Traveling the universe sounds pretty cool," Azuma said with a smile.

Clark knew Azuma's mind was made up—there was no changing it.

"Alright, then. Come back soon. And if you run into trouble, don't forget you've got a friend on Earth!"

Clark stepped forward and gave Azuma a hug.

"Don't worry, I'll be back quick. I still want to crash your wedding, you know!"

Azuma teased.

Clark: "???"

Seeing Clark's baffled expression, Azuma burst out laughing.

"Alright, see you next time!"

"I'm off!"

With that, Azuma looked up, and with a bang, he accelerated to supersonic speed. Sonic boom clouds bloomed behind him as he broke through Earth's atmosphere in a flash.

"See you, my brother!"

Clark lifted his head, watching Azuma disappear into the distance. Then he lowered his gaze, carrying Zod's body back to the ground.

"Why'd Azuma leave?"

Lois ran over, glancing at the sky before asking Clark.

"Yeah, he's gone," Clark said, a touch of sadness in his voice.

Lois quickly picked up on the deeper meaning—they weren't talking about the same kind of "gone."

"Will he come back?"

She couldn't help but ask.

"He will. I believe he'll definitely come back!"

Clark said with conviction.

After exiting the atmosphere, Azuma decided to use the remaining 23-plus hours to boost his strength further and test how much his enhanced Kryptonian bloodline had improved his stellar energy absorption.

In the vast expanse of space—

Azuma first landed on the moon, gathering the Kryptonian warriors' corpses into a pile to deal with later.

Then—

He found a nice spot, lay down, and quietly soaked in the exhilarating solar bath.

Whenever the angle wasn't right, he'd shift to a new position, ensuring he was always basking in the sun.

And so—

Time flew by, over 23 hours passing in a blur.

With just minutes left before the forced return—

Azuma stood up from the crater he'd been resting in, brushed the lunar soil off his pants, and began burying the Kryptonian warriors' bodies one by one on the moon's far side.

Originally, he'd planned to bury them on Mars.

But time was too short!

Even at his current speed, a trip to Mars would take about 50 hours.

He only had 24 hours total.

Where would he find the time to haul these corpses to Mars?

So—

Since Mars was out, the moon's far side would do.

It was close enough.

This world was still in 2013.

In Azuma's previous life, his home country didn't land on the moon's far side until 11 years later.

And Eagle Sauce in this world? Who knew how long it'd take them.

So—

Burying them here was safe. No worries about returning to a Batman v Superman world overrun with Doomsdays.

That scenario seemed unlikely.

"All set!"

Azuma dusted the lunar soil off his hands and glanced at the countdown shrinking in the corner of his vision.

As it hit zero—

Whoosh!

Azuma opened his eyes.

He was back in his bedroom in the anime multiverse.

Throwing off the covers—

He found himself still wearing his Kryptonian armor.

He got out of bed and peeled off the outer armor.

The black inner suit, though? He kept it on. It wasn't uncomfortable—quite the opposite. It was cozy and breathable.

A product of Kryptonian civilization, after all—how many years had their tech been evolving?

Naturally, it was top-notch!

Treating the black suit as underwear, Azuma threw on his school uniform over it, then headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
