Chapter 2 - The Hit

Analice Stephenson was a twenty one year old college student in her final year at Brimstone University, a school with a rich history and mystique.

Her parents had abandoned her during her senior high school, calling her useless and ugly. Accusing her of bringing bad fortune to the family.

Since then, Analice had catered for herself, taking on jobs to earn a living and lucky to have gotten a scholarship to college.

She knew she wasn't the typical beautiful female lead. In fact, she considered herself far from average.

As she often referred to herself a disaster in human form due to her tangled golden-brown curls, weird-looking golden eyes, and lack of lashes.

Her thick eyebrows and flat lips, with the lower one slightly bigger than the upper one, added to her displeasing features.

Her face was plagued by acne, with dark spots scattered all over. Analice's body shape wasn't impressive either. She was painfully aware of her unattractiveness.

Analice had been invisible for the first two years of college, but everything changed when she met Jrey Jericho, the heartthrob of the school.

Jrey came from an influential family with strong connections to the university, and everyone knew him. Analice had always admired him from afar, knowing someone like her would never stood a chance with him.

But she still loved him and did little things he didn't notice for him silently.

However, fate brought them together on a rainy day. A flood had hit the suburbs where Analice lived, and Jrey had sought refuge in a nearby store.

He was being chased by robbers and had almost drowned in a flooded store. Analice found him, called some people to help rescued him, and saved his life.

When Jrey woke up, he felt indebted to Analice. She had never asked for anything in return, but this time, she decided to be selfish.

Analice asked Jrey to be her boyfriend, and he agreed, but with conditions. He promised her the title of girlfriend, but made it clear that he wouldn't commit to anything more. She accepted, knowing she had to take what she could get.

Since becoming Jrey's girlfriend, Analice's quiet college life had disappeared. She became the target of bullying, not physically, but through avoidance and hate from other students.

Many resented her for being Jrey's girlfriend, and her appearance made her an easy target. Some students, who had always wanted to be Jrey's girlfriend, were particularly cruel.

Jrey's behavior towards her didn't help. He often yelled at her, and sometimes even slapped her, especially when he saw her with another guy.

It was as if he didn't want her, but didn't want anyone else to have her either. Analice had always accepted his treatment, grateful that he even acknowledged her as his girlfriend, even if it was just a title.

Girls always flocked around Jrey, despite his reputation for rejecting most of them. He had publicly humiliated some who tried to get close, dismissing them with annoyance.

However, he lingered around the ones he liked, and Isabella was at the top of that list.

Jrey's relationship with Isabella was ambiguous. He hadn't labeled it, Isabella never missed a chance to brag about her close relationship with Jrey.

She always made it clear that she knew him better than anyone else, and that she was more than just a friend. She would often flaunt her connection to Jrey, making sure everyone knew she was the closest to him.

And it made Analice very sad and jealous, despite being Jrey's girlfriend, Analice knew very little about him, including where he lived. Jrey had only visited her apartment, where she lived alone, a handful of times.

She could literally count the number of times he'd been there and whenever he did come over, he wouldn't even sit down or try to have a proper conversation. One glance at her face and he'd already be annoyed, ready to leave.

But today, something inside her snapped. She felt like she'd had enough of everything - the bullying, Jrey's behavior, and the constant feeling of being unworthy.

It was mentally draining and she is tired.

Analice opened the door to her apartment, revealing a simple and somewhat deserted space. The recent flood had damaged some areas around her neighborhood, and her apartment showed signs of neglect.

The walls were bare, and the only furniture was a bed, a chair, a small kitchen, and a restroom. Her clothes were packed into a single bag.

Analice decided to make herself something to eat, settling for a simple meal of noodles. After eating, she lay down and fell asleep, not bothering to think about dinner yet.

She woke up a few hours later, around 8 pm, feeling hungry again. She put on her jacket, took a bath, and tied her curly hair into a messy bun. Then, she headed out to buy some fast food.

On her way, she didn't notice a car parked nearby. After buying what she needed, she walked back home. The distance wasn't too far, but it wasn't extremely close either.

As she walked, the car suddenly ignited and sped towards her. It was already night, and the streets were poorly lit. Analice was walking on the side of the road, clearly giving the car enough space to pass.

But just as the car was about to pass her, the driver turned the steering wheel and directed the vehicle towards her. The car hit her, sending her flying off the road.

The impact of the accident was severe. Analice hit the ground with her forehead and broke her head. Dazed and disoriented, she struggled to make sense of what had just happened.

The car sped off, leaving her lying on the ground. But as it disappeared into the distance, Analice heard an unmistakable voice shriek "Die, bitch!" The voice sent chills down her spine, and she couldn't shake the feeling that it belonged to Isabella.

Analice lay there, she felt her world spinning out of control. Blood gushed from her nose and mouth as her consciousness began to slip.

Her head throbbed with excruciating pain, and she felt blood rushing inside her skull.

Her vision blurred, and she struggled to keep her eyes open, knowing that if she closed them, she might not wake up again.

But she couldn't fight it anymore. Her breathing grew labored, and with one final, ragged gasp, she collapsed onto the floor, her body going limp.
