Chapter 16 - A World on Edge—The Hidden Hands Move

The First Tremors

Su Chen stood atop the military compound, gazing over the training grounds. The once ordinary soldiers had transformed into awakened warriors—hundreds of Tier 3s and dozens of Tier 4s now honed their newfound power.

But his expression remained unreadable.

He knew this was only the beginning.

The rapid surge of awakeners had already sent ripples through the world. Intelligence agencies, foreign governments, and hidden organizations were scrambling to understand how Huaxia had gained such a massive power boost in such a short time.

And it wasn't just speculation anymore.

The United Federation had formally requested a diplomatic meeting.

A high-ranking military officer approached him. "Su Chen, the Federation has sent a delegation. They want to discuss the 'abnormalities' in our military advancements."

Su Chen scoffed. "They want to pry into our affairs. Let the government deal with them."

The officer hesitated before speaking. "There's one more thing… They also want to meet you personally."

Silence.

Su Chen's gaze turned sharp.

"They're afraid."

The officer nodded. "Yes. Afraid of what you are."

The Gods Take Notice

Far beyond human sight, in the vast void between realms, divine beings observed the unfolding events with growing concern and anger.

Within a golden palace, a god with six wings and eyes like burning suns sat on a throne of divine fire. Before him, lesser gods bowed in submission.

"Huaxia's power is rising," one god muttered. "This wasn't supposed to happen."

Another god, shrouded in dark mist, let out a chilling laugh. "A mortal dares to defy the ordained fate? How amusing."

The six-winged god's eyes flared. "Amusing? It is dangerous."

The room fell silent.

The gods had underestimated humanity before. They had assumed that when the awakening process began, humans would struggle, fight amongst themselves, and fall before divine might.

But now, with Su Chen accelerating the process, their calculations were crumbling.

One of the gods spoke hesitantly. "Shall we intervene?"

The six-winged god closed his eyes for a moment before speaking.

"No… Not yet."

But his next words carried a chilling intent.

"Send an Oracle. Let the mortals know their place."

The Cult Makes Its Move

The god-worshipping cult had never been more desperate.

In a candlelit underground temple, their highest-ranking members gathered once more.

A man with a golden mask, the Supreme Pontiff, stood before a towering stone tablet covered in divine inscriptions. His voice was filled with urgency.

"The gods are displeased. The False Prophet has accelerated the awakening of mortals. This is unacceptable."

A woman in a crimson robe stepped forward. "The gods have spoken to us. We must act before humanity grows too strong."

The Supreme Pontiff turned to a kneeling figure—a man dressed in ceremonial battle armor, his eyes glowing with divine power.

"You will lead our first retaliation. Show them the price of defying the gods."

The kneeling man placed his fist over his chest.

"As you command."

The Storm Approaches

Back in the military compound, Su Chen felt a subtle shift in the air.

Something was coming.

He didn't know when or how, but he could sense it—an invisible tension tightening around him.

He glanced at the sky.

"Let them come."

His voice was calm, but beneath the surface, his killing intent surged like a tidal wave.

Because no matter what happened next, one thing was certain.

He was ready.
