Emperor Kian Black's POV
"Aaarghhhh... too many... we need backup! Call Squad 3—Aaarghhh!" I roared, desperation lacing my voice as my men fell one by one. We were being overrun. I could only hope for a miracle.
And then... as if the heavens heard my plea, she arrived.
A woman—no, a goddess. Her beauty was ethereal, almost unreal. And those movements... flawless. Every strike, every dodge—perfectly calculated. I could barely breathe as I watched her.
I was so mesmerized that I didn't even notice a bullet speeding toward me.
Sh*t! Is this my last day? No, not yet—I haven't even had the chance to know her.
Resignation settled in as time seemed to slow. Or had it truly slowed? The woman was moving toward me, her hands raised, whispering something in an unfamiliar tongue.
"(Stop)"
And just like that—the bullet stopped mid-air.
Was I the only one seeing this? Or did the others witness it too?
A smirk curled on her lips as she turned to me. "I know I'm gorgeous, but please, concentrate on your fight... my Emperor."
That playful smile... something about it sent a surge of determination through me.
Fueled by newfound energy, I leaped back into battle, cutting through our enemies with renewed vigor. In fifteen minutes, it was over. Out of a hundred men, only ten of us remained. Such was the cost of war in the underworld.
I turned to the woman, my heart pounding—not just from the fight, but from something else entirely. "Miss, thank you for your help. Without you, we would've been wiped out. I owe you my life."
She tilted her head, amusement dancing in her eyes. "You don't have to thank me, Emperor Kian Black. After all, I wouldn't let the man I love die in front of me."
What? Did she say something else? I swear she did, but my mind was too tangled to process it.
"No, I insist. Let me take you somewhere as thanks. By the way, your name is...?"
She chuckled. "Oh, it's bad luck to refuse an offer of gratitude!" And with that, she took off running—without even telling me her name.
I could only shake my head in exasperation. Who is this woman?
"Oh, what are you standing around for? I'm starving after that fight!" she called out, glancing over her shoulder.
She really was something else.
That day marked the beginning of my story with Helena Sreight—now Helena Sreight Black.
A month after that fateful battle, we started dating. And as I grew closer to her, I uncovered things about her—things that defied everything I knew about the world.
She could move objects without touching them. She could talk to animals. She could mend broken things with a mere touch. And those were just a few of the abilities she revealed. I had a feeling there was much more she kept hidden.
One night, as we sat together under the moonlight, she finally confessed.
"Kian... I never wanted to hide this from you forever. I was just afraid. Afraid you'd be freaked out, afraid you'd think I bewitched you into loving me. But my feelings... they're real. I am real. And so are my powers." She hesitated before continuing, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I... I'm not from here. I come from another world—a magical realm, like the ones in your fairy tales. My mother, the Queen, ordered me to leave, and that's how I ended up here."
I stared at her, trying to process what she was saying.
She took a deep breath. "Do you remember the girl you saved—the one in tattered clothes? That was me. A group of men tried to—" Her voice hitched, tears brimming in her eyes. "They tried to hurt me. And then you came."
I felt a sharp pang in my chest.
At first, I won't lie—I felt betrayed. Not because she had powers, not because she was from another world, but because she hadn't trusted me enough to tell me sooner.
But as I looked into her teary eyes, all that frustration melted away.
I pulled her into my arms. "Hush now, darling... I'm not mad at you. Maybe a little at what you did, but never at you. You should have told me. I would have believed you." I let out a small chuckle. "You're an extraordinary woman, Helena. And that's why I love you. Though, I didn't expect you to be this extreme."
She laughed through her tears, burying her face in my chest.
From that moment on, I vowed to protect her—not just as a man, but as her husband.
We married in secret. And when the time was right, I traveled to her world, standing before her parents—the King and Queen—to prove my love for their daughter.
To my surprise, they accepted me. Given the turmoil in their kingdom, they agreed to let us live in the human world. But with one condition—when our child turned seventeen, we would return.
Because our child would belong to both worlds.
That was where our journey truly began.
If the day ever comes when our child questions who they are, it will be our responsibility to explain—to help them understand.
When that time comes, we will be ready.
