Chapter 16 - The power of vibration

This was the third method. The final method. And the one Yoru was most confident in!

Buzz!!

Even though he had lowered the intensity of the vibrations to the minimum, the moment he unleashed the power inward—directly into his heart—his vision went black.

For a moment, he almost lost consciousness.

But... he did it!

The gate within his heart—what should have been the final Eighth Gate: Gate of Death—was forcibly ruptured under the impact of his vibrations!

As Yoru struggled back from the brink of unconsciousness, he could feel it—the flow of energy within his heart was completely different from before. A rush of strength surged through him, and for the first time, an uncontrollable smile crept onto his face.

The power of vibration… It truly worked as the key to unlocking the first gate in the heart!

That meant... besides him, no one else in this world would ever be able to cultivate the Reverse Eight Gates!

At this moment, the first gate within his heart had only been torn open slightly.

But even so, the power coursing through his heart was already far beyond anything he had experienced before.

With the heart's strength amplified, the blood flow would only further boost his body, creating a perfect cycle of enhancement.

That alone was enough to make Yoru ecstatic.

But the benefits did not stop there.

The instant the gate in his heart was breached, Yoru sensed it.

Deep within—something was stirring.

A powerful chakra was brewing inside his heart!

The chakra, as it formed, was nourishing his heart in return.

And as the heart absorbed this chakra, it pulsed stronger, pumping blood even faster!

A second positive feedback loop!

Even Yoru hadn't expected this outcome.

"I never thought... Forcing the gate open would actually allow me—a person with such poor chakra affinity—to instantly gain powerful chakra!"

His face lit up with sheer exhilaration.

Normal Eight Gates users unlocked their chakra restraints, but that was only temporary—a short-lived burst of power.

But Yoru's chakra... was permanent!

He could feel it—the chakra stored in his heart was already on par with a Genin-level ninja.

With this, his fate had completely changed.

Yoru's lack of skill in ninjutsu wasn't because he was incompetent—it was because his chakra reserves were simply too small to refine and mold properly.

But now...

The first gate in his heart was barely half-open, yet his chakra had skyrocketed—and he didn't even have to refine it himself!

This chakra was now stored within his heart, where it would continue to enhance and amplify itself in an infinite loop.

And Yoru instantly understood—as he unlocked the second and third gates, his chakra would only continue to increase.

The path forward... was now crystal clear.

But before anything else, he had to fully open the first gate.

"Now to finish this in one go!"

Eyes burning with determination, Yoru focused his vibration power once again, directing it toward the fractured gate in his heart. At the same time, he drew upon his newly formed chakra, combining both forces.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The already-cracked gate could no longer withstand the pressure. Like a dam bursting under a flood, it was completely shattered!

Buzz!!!

At that moment—Yoru's body erupted with a powerful aura, causing Might Duy, who had been standing guard nearby, to snap his head toward him in shock.

Yoru's heart—completely unshackled—was now overflowing with chakra, almost as if he was about to activate the Eight Gates Formation!

But in the end, the energy behaved exactly as Yoru predicted—it didn't fully explode.

Instead, it dispersed into the remaining seven gates that were still locked.

Only when all eight gates were opened simultaneously, with the heart as the final gate, could one unleash the true power of the Eight Gates Formation.

But by opening only the heart gate first, Yoru had achieved something completely different—not a burst of power, but an everlasting stability!

With that, the first gate of the Reverse Eight Gates was fully unlocked!

His chakra reserves—once minuscule to the point of being unusable—had now surged to a level comparable to a Genin!

At the same time, his physical strength, speed, and durability had all significantly increased.

It was a complete transformation.

If Yoru had fought a Genin before, he would have struggled.

But now...

A Genin was no longer his match!

However, the sudden power surge came with an unexpected drawback.

Splurt!

Yoru felt a sharp pain in his chest. A mouthful of blood sprayed from his lips.

Yet, he didn't look worried at all.

His body simply wasn't used to this power yet.

With his heart unlocked, it was capable of generating much stronger pulses of energy. But for now, his physical endurance had yet to fully adapt.

Still, this was only temporary.

As his chakra and heart continued to enhance each other, he would soon achieve perfect synchronization.

"Yoru! Are you alright?!"

Might Duy, who had been watching the entire process, was completely shaken.

One moment, Yoru's aura had flared like an inferno.

The next, it had completely stabilized—only for Yoru to suddenly cough up blood.

Panicked, Duy rushed over to check on him.

But Yoru simply shook his head, taking a deep breath as he gradually calmed the storm within him.

"I'm fine. But it looks like I'll need some time to fully stabilize this."

Duy, still worried, patted Yoru on the shoulder reassuringly.

"It's okay, Yoru… You're already a genius. Just coming up with a method like this is impressive on its own—even if it didn't work, I'd still respect you."

As he spoke, he tried to comfort Yoru.

"Victory and defeat are common in a warrior's path. Even if this method fails, you can always train under me and—"

Yoru's expression suddenly turned odd.

"Uh… I never said I failed."

"...Yeah, even if you failed, it's no big deal. I mean—huh?!"

Duy was still rambling when he suddenly froze, his eyes widening in shock.

His gaze snapped to Yoru, his mouth hanging open.

"...You... You succeeded?!"

"Yeah."

Yoru shrugged.

BOOM!!!

It was as if a thunderclap had exploded in Duy's mind.

For a moment, his thoughts went completely blank.

When he finally snapped out of it, he stared at Yoru like he was some kind of mythical beast.

His mouth opened. Then closed. Then opened again.

"You… You actually succeeded?! The Reverse Eight Gates… is real?!"

The weight of that realization hit him like a sledgehammer.

Yoru had just rewritten history.

A true monster had been born
