Date - 4th April 2010

Place - North District, Home

Time - 8:38 am

"You both have a major problem with the way you pursue combat" Said the 18 Thysia year old girl sitting near the window of one of the two boys' room who are sitting on their knees, "I would've thought that by now you'd have found a way around these issues but somehow neither of you have…"

Six years have passed since that unforgettable event which happened for the boy who sat on the left of the girl, Lucy, when she first brought him here that ended up changing his life forever in ways he hadn't ever comprehended to be possible.

"Master…just say it straight what are talking about" Said Feirin, the boy sitting on the right of Lucy.

"Feirin, what do you think I've told you numerous times ever since the day I first started to train you nearly six years ago?"

"Y-you don't have to spell out how long it's been… That I focus way too much on offense?"

"Focusing isn't the correct word in this case" She said, her eyes closed and arms folded.

"I'd be have been much happier if it was just a lack of 'focus' rather than 'impatience', ALL YOU DO IS MINDLESSLY INITIATE ATTACKS ON YOUR OPPONENT AND PAY NO REGARD TO DEFENSE! Every time you just fuse all your energy into the attack you are doing and somehow, SOMEHOW! You mess even that up most of the time by either not landing it properly, or not preparing it well in the first place! Are you an idiot!?" She exclaimed, pointing her finger at her disciple and exaggerating her posture, showcasing her annoyance in ways that went beyond just communicating with words.

"Huh!? Well maybe if you actually taught me how to fight rather than just training myself to no end, then I'd know how to use energy more efficiently!"

"If I am a bad teacher, how does Brax use his energy then, by, I don't know, like ten times more efficiently than how you do?!" The two bickered, while the other boy in question, Brax sat in his position, quietly watching and waiting for the criticism regarding him.

"That…"

"Don't blame me for your own incompetence" She said and turned her sights to the left, "Though, it's not like you are without any faults either Brax"

Rather than a scornful expression, Brax sat upright, showcased an attentive and interested look which had become a very normal sight for the two with him by this point during such discussions.

"What you have isn't as big of an issue as that of Feirins', however it's also somehow the exact opposite of what he's doing that's a problem" She said.

"What is it!" He exclaimed cheerfully, his mood is quite infectious.

"You focus a bit too much on efficiency"

"Eh? What…?" Brax replied, visibly confused.

"Being efficient isn't by any means bad, but too much of anything isn't for the best either"

"You want me to be efficient because I am bad at it, yet he shouldn't do the same…care to elaborate?" Feirin said, face showing slight disdain.

"Hmm…it'd be best if I explain this with an example, want to eat ice-cream?"

"Yes!" "I do!" The two exclaimed, it was quite hot today after all, not to mention that they are being made to sit on the scorching ground in seiza-style (sitting on knees).

"I don't have any"

"A-ahem, let's say that the two of you are eating ice-cream right now"

'Would be nice if I could actually eat some…' 'Would be nice if we could actually eat some' Feirin and Brax thought respectively as Lucy explained.

"Okay Feirin, you ate the ice-cream way too fast, what would then happen?"

"It would be over too fast"

"Yes and?"

"I'd buy another one"

"...you can't buy another one, what would happen if you eat the one you have too fast?" She asked again, setting a condition that irked Feirin a little.

"...I'd want another one"

"Brax, let's say you eat an ice-cream way too slowly, what would happen?" She asked, curving towards the more reliable boy in her eyes which irritated Feirin.

"It'd melt…before I finish it?"

"Yes and…?" She asked, a glimmer of faint hope shone in her eyes.

"And…I won't get to enjoy i–"

"Yes! Yes…yeahhhh" She exclaimed, holding onto Brax's shoulders with both her hands with satisfaction overwhelming the dissatisfaction she felt a bit earlier, then sadly turned back towards her source of disappointment, "Now, Feirin, answer me, what would happen IF you eat an ice-cream way too fast…?"

"...I'd make a–"

"You couldn't enjoy the one you ate because it got finished too fast, that's what you were about to say, right?" She said, gazing into Feirin's eyes with a still and blank expression before he continued any longer.

"Y–yes…"

"Good, good! Just what I expected!" She exclaimed, patting his shoulder with a 'satisfied' look, "In order to explain what exactly I mean about the criticism I said regarding each of you, these two ice-cream situations will help you with it"

"How so?"

"Think of the ice-cream being your soul energy and your satisfaction being the target on whom you use your energy against" Lucy said as she raised her hand, and created a sphere of energy within it.

"One situation has the ice-cream's taste not being satisfying enough because of eating it too fast" The spherical ball of power in her palm started wobbling chaotically as she said that.

"The other situation has the ice-cream melting before you even eat to reach the satisfaction point" Then the energy slowly diminished in thin air, "Similarly, energy if used impatiently won't have the proper effectiveness against whatever you are using it for, however if you take too much time to use it effectively, chances are your opponent may get the upper hand, or you don't the opportunity to land a finishing blow, get it now?"

"Ooh! I see…" Brax replied, observing everything meticulously.

"That's why we can't buy another ice-cream?" Feirin said with squinted eyes and hand on his chin.

"sigh you…hmm but yes, buying one in this situation would be like getting someone else to fight for you. Now that I've explained the shortcomings of you two, here's how-"

tringg! tringg!

The faint sounds of a ringing could be heard from within the house.

"Wait a moment" Lucy said and went to the source that was within the living room that's right across this room.

TRINGG! TRINGG!

The obnoxious repeating sound belonged to the device that's at the corner of the room i.e. a telephone which was displaying the number '6-000001' on a small rectangular display towards the top; this showed the number of the person or place from where the was call coming from.

"A call from The Heart…" She muttered, looking at the display, then picked up the phone.

"Hello, Ari? What hap–"

"SHE'S AWAKE" Said the slight distorted voice that emitted through the receiver which she held near her ears; listening to which her eyes widened and the receiver almost slipped out of her hand, but she gripped on just as quick. There was no need to explain who 'she' referred to.

"When!?"

"It hasn't been even a minute since I found out, I am going to check her condition now, when can you come ove–"

"ON MY WAY NOW!" She interjected and put the receiver back in its place, cutting the call and rushed back to the opposite room.

"Who was it?" Brax asked, still sitting with Feirin in the same position, and noticed the change in expression of Lucy's face that startled him a little as she hurriedly came back into the room.

"Ari, I am heading out, will be back a few hours later, have this" She said multiple answers to potential questions that might be asked of her in quick succession, and tossed two silver coloured coins at Brax, "Buy yourselves some ice-cream with that"

"Wait what about our lesso-"

BOOM!

"Later" She answered. Blue coloured aura poured and flowed out of her violently, but not only that, there were also white coloured lines of energy which emerged from near her feet, rotated around her and vanished as it reached a little above the area of her head; it was different than that of Focus, the state which Brax and Feirin used.

FWOOM!

"Was that…Focus3!?" The two boys exclaimed, their voices overlapping after Lucy flew out of the room and into the sky, disappearing from their sight in mere moments; both were dumbstruck and speechless at what they had just witnessed, tingles ran down their spine and the atmosphere in the room became heavy for just a second when she was still here, then went back to normal right after she left.

"She said Ari right? Isn't that the…a-ahem. Something important must've come up if she went out in such a hurry…" Feirin remarked, looking at the one on his side.

"Sis…" Brax murmured, gaping at the sky, in the direction that Lucy had flown in.

"Just wait, I am coming as soon as possible..!" Lucy exclaimed, flying at an incredibly high speed, measuring thousands of meters of distance in a mere second.
