Chapter 3 - 3: Powers

Today is January 5, 2001, and it's been 6 years since I reincarnated.

Today is a sunny day, the birds are singing and flowers are blooming in every corner.

The December snow is already being cleaned by the snow cleaners and Superman is doing one of his regular patrols, which luckily, this time did not end up in a fight against a super villain.

In two weeks, classes will start and I will finally enter school. My parents wanted to teach me at home, but because of their tight schedules, they decided to put me in school anyway.

And it was on this day, inside my room, that I discovered... I have powers. In short, I am a meta-human.

In DC, meta-humans are people with powers or people with the potential to develop powers, anyone with unusual abilities can already be considered a meta-human. For example, Superman, Mars Hunter, Doctor Fate, etc.

And why do I think that? Well, you can ask the burnt wall of my room.

My power, from what I could see so far, seem to be bursts of energy coming out of my hands. Very specific and simple, something I know most powers are not.

My power can be something like energy manipulation or a derivative, and the chances of that are high. But for some reason, I feel that my powers are related to Adam Warlock.

For years I thought. Why did I see this specific character before reincarnating? He really was one of my favorite characters, but still, it didn't make sense that he was the last thing I saw.

In addition, my appearance has become more similar to his. Blonde hair, red eyes, almost golden skin and not to mention strange jewel-shaped birthmark I have on my forehead.

[ Author: In some adaptations, Warlock's eyes are red, and as I think it's better than white, I put red ]

But these are just assumptions. And to see if they are true, I have to do some tests. And obviously, I'll do it.

First, let's test my bursts of energy. First, I need targets to focus on.

And looking at my room and the thousands of Justice League dolls that my parents bought me, I already knew what I was going to aim for.

Over the 6 years I've been here, I noticed that this universe is very similar to comics, but with some unimportant differences. Like, Batman in this universe is more like Batman Absolute, Guy Gardner was the first green lantern on earth instead of Hal Jordan, Wally became Flash before Barry Allen, etc. But these are details for another time.

Opening the bedroom window and putting some of my league figurines on the window, I pointed my hand at him and began to concentrate.

I activated my bursts before by accident, while I was thinking about the changes of the universe where I am. A very nothing thought, so I think it was just an unexpected awakening.

That's why I'll need to use my concentration for that. I never had to deal with powers in my past life, but as a comic book fan, I knew very well how to use my power.

I closed my eyes, inhaled and exhaled deeply, and imagined an energy inside my body, flowing through a core. I felt a comfortable heat run through my body, so I knew it was working.

Then, I imagined this energy flowing into my hands, and I felt this same heat in my hands. Now, I imagined this energy coming out of my body and hitting the Flash toy that was in the middle, with the energy coming out of the palm of my hand in the form of a laser and hitting the toy, knocking it over from the window.

Looking at the result, I smiled with that and repeated the process, hitting the rest of the toys and knocking them down. All right, now I master my bursts of energy.

And if my powers are really those of Adam Warlock, there are also others that I need to test.

Then, putting myself in the Lotus position, I closed my eyes and visualized the same energy as before, and made it flow through all parts of my body equally.

Then, I visualized them around me chains that held my whole body, with these chains being attached to the ground. These currents represented reality.

Through a lot of concentration, I made my energy flow to these currents and break them, making my body lighter and when I opened my eyes, I was floating a few meters from the floor of my room, almost touching the ceiling.

I smiled once more before concentrating again and returning to the ground. In the comics, Adam could use the energy he generated to deny the effects of gravity on his body and fly, something I just did now.

These were his basic powers, but I'm still not sure if I really have his powers, they may just be coincidences. But I won't go too deep now, I'll just rest and enjoy the fact that I have powers, which makes me less defenseless than before.

But if I really have Adam's powers, then I imagine myself going head-to-head with Superman in the future.
