Cherreads

Chapter 1 - The Beginning and End

I never liked my life. In fact, I found it utterly devoid of interest, a monotonous cycle that drained the color from my days.

As the years slipped by, I began to isolate myself from everyone around me, retreating into a self-imposed exile, waiting for this dreary existence to come to an end.

Just when I thought I would finally find peace, enveloped in darkness for eternity, I awoke in an unfamiliar room. Yes, you guessed it right. I won't say when I thought I was going to die, but fate had other plans for me—cliché or not.

"Hah, what am I going to be here? A villain or the fucking Son of Destiny? Of course not. If I were that lucky, I wouldn't have died in the first place," I muttered, my voice echoing in the silence as I stared at the unfamiliar ceiling above me.

"Well, it doesn't hurt to see my face at least," I said, pushing myself off the bed and making my way to the bathroom. Standing in front of the mirror, I was greeted by a reflection that was both striking and unsettling.

The man staring back at me had hair as white as freshly fallen snow and piercing crimson eyes that seemed to hold a depth of emotion I couldn't quite grasp.

His sharp jawline and pale skin gave him an ethereal beauty, but his physique was anything but impressive. In short, I was a weak, fragile, and undeniably beautiful man.

Yes, beautiful. I could almost hear the whispers of admiration that would follow me, but I knew better. I bet my charm stats must be the only good thing about me.

Suddenly, a thought crossed my mind, and I immediately put my hand inside my pants. At least I wasn't weak there. Heh.

"Let's see if I have my cheat or not."

"Status Open."

[Do you wish to log in to the system?]

(Yes) or (No)

"Hahahaa, yes! Here's my cheat!" I shouted, a surge of excitement coursing through me as I nearly jumped for joy.

After hearing the familiar voice and seeing the blue letters on the screen, I realized that I was not completely abandoned after all.

I just prayed it wasn't one of those annoying systems that could punish their own host or were overly talkative. I hated those; they were incredibly irritating.

Taking a deep breath, I pressed the "Yes" button.

[Does the host wish to open the newbie pack?]

As I reviewed the entire status window, one thing became painfully clear: I was still a loser in this life as well. Except for that handsome face, nothing was good. And what did it mean by "handsome ant"?

"What the hell? No talent, no skills, no class, and even level zero. What great sin did I commit in my last life to deserve this pathetic existence?" I shouted in frustration, my voice rising in pitch.

"So I am Noah von Augustus. Am I a noble, maybe?" I wondered aloud while checking my stats. "So what if I am a noble? I'm pretty sure they will kick me out once they find out I have no talent." The thought gnawed at me, a bitter reminder of my inadequacies.

"Let's check the newbie pack first, shall we?"

"System, open the newbie pack," I said, my heart racing with a mix of hope and desperation, praying for something—anything—that would help me survive in this new, daunting world.
