Chapter 17 - A Date with Scarlett .....

The sun hung low in the sky, bathing the academy in a warm, golden glow as I walked alongside Scarlett. Today, she'd asked me to join her for a shopping trip—just two friends enjoying a day together. But, as always with Scarlett, it felt like something more. She had a way of making even the simplest moments feel special, and with each step we took, I found myself looking forward to what would come next.

"Let's start at the market!" Scarlett exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and I couldn't help but smile. She had an uncanny ability to find the best spots, and I was more than happy to let her lead the way.

The market bustled with life—vendors called out their wares, the scent of fresh pastries and spices mingling in the air. Scarlett weaved through the crowds effortlessly, and I followed closely behind, lost in the rhythm of her energy. We eventually arrived at a quaint little shop, the kind that seemed tucked away from the world. Inside, walls lined with shimmering necklaces and intricate bracelets told stories of craftsmanship and care.

"Look at this!" Scarlett said, holding up a delicate silver necklace with a sapphire pendant. It caught the light, reflecting shades of blue that seemed to shimmer with their own quiet magic.

I nodded, admiring the beauty of it. "It's stunning. You'd look incredible in it."

Her smile was small but genuine, a hint of a blush creeping onto her cheeks. We lingered in the shop for a while, each piece of jewelry a new discovery, but it was her laughter that stood out, light and melodic, like a song I never wanted to end.

We continued our stroll through the market, popping in and out of vibrant clothing boutiques and stalls brimming with colorful trinkets. Every place we visited seemed to bring out a new side of Scarlett—her joy, her curiosity, her ability to find wonder in the smallest of things. I couldn't help but feel like I was seeing her through a different lens, one that made everything about her feel so much more... alive.

Eventually, we found ourselves in a weapons shop, the air thick with the scent of leather and iron. The walls were lined with swords, bows, and daggers, each weapon a testament to skill and precision. Scarlett wandered through the aisles, her fingers grazing the cool metal as she admired the craftsmanship.

I glanced over to see her holding a pair of daggers—sleek, with black and red blades that gleamed under the shop's dim lights. The craftsmanship was flawless, and for a moment, I could see something in her eyes—a longing.

"They're perfect," she murmured, her voice soft. "But I can't afford them."

Her words were barely audible, but I caught them all the same. "They're too much," she added with a sigh, biting her lip. "I'd have to save for months to even get close."

Something inside me stirred—a sense of urgency, a desire to make her smile, to give her something that made her eyes light up like they did when she saw the necklace. Without thinking, I made a decision.

I quietly purchased the daggers, keeping it a secret, letting the surprise grow inside me. I couldn't wait to see her reaction when the time came.

After we finished our shopping spree, we decided to take a break at a cozy café just around the corner. The air smelled of freshly brewed coffee, and the scent of baked goods hung in the breeze. We found a small table outside, the sunlight casting a warm, gentle glow over everything.

As we ate, the conversation flowed effortlessly. We talked about everything and nothing—plans for the future, memories from the past, and silly moments that made us laugh until our sides ached. It was simple, but it felt perfect.

"Today has been amazing," Scarlett said, her eyes gleaming with that familiar spark. "I'm so glad we did this."

"Me too," I replied, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me. There was something about this moment, something that made everything feel right. It was as if the world had slowed down just for us, letting us savor the simplicity of being together.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, we made our way to the nearby lake. The sky had transformed into a canvas of oranges, pinks, and purples, each color reflected in the still waters. The lake was serene, its gentle waves creating a soft, rhythmic melody that filled the air. It was peaceful, a quiet contrast to the bustling energy of the market we'd just left.

I felt a sense of anticipation building within me. I guess it's time.

"Scarlett!" I called, my voice cutting through the tranquil air.
