It was utterly ridiculous—so much so that he ended up cursing himself. But honestly, it wasn't *that* bad.
Wei Xingzhou had just learned that Ji Chuxing's household registration had been transferred to the Wei family.
He didn't know why Bo Yanchen, who was already playing both father and older brother, hadn't put her under his own name instead. But frankly, that wasn't the main issue here.
The real kicker? The Wei household—a bunch of burly men—finally had a little sister!
So today, Wei Xingzhou came bearing gifts. He'd originally planned to get Ji Chuxing to call him "Big Brother." But seeing how Bo Yanchen was doting on her like she was made of porcelain, he decided against provoking him—for now. Instead, he'd approach Ji Chuxing privately later.
Unfortunately, Second Master Bo spotted him.
"What's that you're holding?"
Wei Xingzhou: "…."
He let out an awkward cough and pulled out the item.
"I was gonna give this to my little sis—" His words faltered under Bo Yanchen's icy glare. Quickly backpedaling, he added, "I mean, it's a welcome gift for Little Star."
In his mind, he silently amended it to *a family reunion gift.*
It was an invitation to an auction—the biggest one in South City. Whatever caught Little Star's eye, he'd buy it for her. With all the other Wei brothers currently out of town, this was his golden opportunity to win her over. Her first-ever "Big Brother" would undoubtedly belong to him!
Bo Yanchen smirked coolly. "You think you're the only one with an invite?"
Wei Xingzhou: "…."
Damn. He'd forgotten about that.
Just then, Ji Chuxing descended from upstairs, curiosity piqued. "What invitation?"
At the sight of her, Wei Xingzhou brightened. "Little Star—"
Before he could finish, Ji Chixing shot him a blank stare.
Wei Xingzhou hastily corrected himself. "Uh, Master Star."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he wanted to slap himself. Why couldn't he control his own tongue?
Ji Chuxing gave a slight nod.
Bo Yanchen chuckled, clearly amused, and gestured toward the table. "An auction invitation. Interested in checking it out, Star? I've got VIP seats reserved."
Wei Xingzhou: "…."
Ji Chuxing perked up. "What kind of stuff will they have?"
"All sorts," Bo Yanchen replied smoothly. "Calligraphy, antiques, jade, jewelry, rare medicinal herbs… There might even be some cutting-edge tech or exclusive items not available elsewhere."
At the mention of rare herbs, Ji Chuxing's eyes lit up. "I'm in."
Bo Yanchen nodded approvingly. "Alright, I'll take you."
And just like that, Wei Xingzhou—and his carefully prepared invitation—were completely sidelined.
Ji Chuxing had only come downstairs to grab snacks. After raiding the fridge for a pile of jelly cups, she turned to head back upstairs. Halfway up, she overheard Wei Xingzhou venting to Bo Yanchen below.
"Man, it's been three days! I've been trying to reach that brat for two days straight, but no response. Think they're messing with me?"
Something about this sounded familiar to Ji Chuxing.
Wei Xingzhou kept ranting. "Seriously, what's their deal? They took the job and vanished into thin air. I bet they're just some random kid who stumbled onto the resource network by accident while gaming."
"And don't give me that crap about the counter-attack being skillful—it was probably just a lucky glitch or something! And calling themselves 'All-Rounder'? If they don't deliver by midnight tonight, I'm putting a bounty on them across every platform!"
Hearing this, Ji Chuxing rubbed her temples in exasperation. One of the jelly cups slipped from her arms and rolled down to Wei Xingzhou's feet.
Still mid-rant, he bent down to pick it up. "Here, Master Star."
Once again, he felt the urge to smack himself.
Ji Chuxing gave him a strange look. "Keep it."
Without another word, she turned and headed back upstairs.
So *this* was the idiot from the resource network—the one who'd hacked her computer. Still, if Bo Yanchen was involved, the task must be significant. Though it was merely a component of a mechanical device, its core design could unleash nuclear-level destruction if used correctly.
Tsk. Someone sure had a lot of free time meddling in her affairs.
Hmph!
Unaware of his exposure, Wei Xingzhou mused aloud, "I feel like Little Star gave me a weird look just now…"
Bo Yanchen wheeled away without sparing him another glance. "That's because you're an idiot."
Wei Xingzhou: "…."
Fine. Everyone seemed to enjoy bullying him these days.
But hey, if it was his little sister doing the bullying, he didn't mind.
He was totally okay with it!
Ji Chuxing had been busy lately, though she hadn't forgotten about the big order on the resource network. The deadline was noon tomorrow—72 hours from now—but she still had time. To avoid Wei Xingzhou actually following through on his threat to put a bounty on her, she decided to wrap things up early.
She pulled out her laptop, logged into the resource network, and deleted the barrage of unread messages from W Dashuai.
Ugh. So annoying.
With a stoic expression, Ji Chuxing cleared the notifications and got to work, skipping dinner entirely.
Bo Yanchen knocked on her door, urging her to come down and eat.
She refused, locking the door behind her and ignoring further calls. She was getting irritated.
Bo Yanchen sighed helplessly. "You've got one hour. If you don't come down by then, I'm confiscating your snacks."
Downstairs, Wei Xingzhou watched the self-appointed father figure with a mix of disbelief and disdain, rolling his eyes inwardly as he dug into his meal. But before he could take a bite, Bo Yanchen stopped him.
"This is specially prepared for Star. Order your own takeout."
Wei Xingzhou stared at the seven dishes laid out on the table. "Are you serious? All of this is for her?"
Talk about overkill! Was he feeding his little sister like livestock?
Bo Yanchen nodded solemnly. "She's in her final year of high school. Studying hard takes energy."
Wei Xingzhou: "?"
My little sister sleeps through half her classes, and you're spinning tales?
But he didn't dare say anything. Besides, this was his newly acknowledged little sister—he couldn't exactly compete for food. Still, someone was being awfully stingy, leaving him nothing.
Young Master Wei felt wronged but bit his tongue.
An hour later, Wei Xingzhou was begrudgingly munching on his takeout.
Meanwhile, Ji Chuxing stretched lazily in her room, uploaded her work, and clicked "Complete." Only then did hunger finally hit her.
Opening the door, she found Bo Yanchen waiting outside, hand raised to knock. Seeing her, he smiled faintly. "Finally out. Let's go eat."
Ji Chuxing: "Sure."
Bo Yanchen added, "If you skip meals again, I'm cutting off your snacks."
Ji Chuxing: "…."
As she started downstairs, she heard Wei Xingzhou's shocked voice echo from below.
"Holy crap! Second Master, the task is done!"
Wei Xingzhou practically sprinted upstairs, phone in hand. "The brat actually finished the job!"
Bo Yanchen and Ji Chuxing exchanged a cool glance.
Wei Xingzhou immediately calmed down, then shouted, "Boss! Boss completed the mission!"
Satisfied, Ji Chuxing went downstairs to eat.
Perfect timing—the food was still warm. Bo Yanchen took Wei Xingzhou's phone, glanced at it briefly, then motioned for him to follow into the study. Before leaving, he reminded Ji Chuxing, "Eat well."
Ji Chuxing ate slowly, savoring each bite.
When she set down her chopsticks, she noticed an additional five million in her account.
Perfect. Ji Chuxing couldn't help but grin.
Meanwhile, on the resource network, W Dashuai was flooding her inbox with frantic messages.
"Boss, you're the real deal! I bow to you!"
"Feel my endless admiration! You're a genius! Ignore my previous nonsense—I was talking out of my ass."
"Boss, who are you? Can we be friends?"
"Boss, add me on WeChat?"
