Chapter 49 - 49. Accept

They all entered the classroom. At least they weren't late. Today's class wasn't taught by Zhou Yi. Compared to Zhou Yi's class yesterday, today's class was very simple for everyone.

After skipping class all day, Wang Feng followed Huo Yuhao to sell grilled fish again. This time, Wang Feng ran into Xu Sanshi again.

"What's up, senior? Are you here to get revenge on me today?" Wang Feng said to Xu Sanshi with a sharp look.

"Who's causing trouble? I'm not here for that. I didn't just come to buy grilled fish, I'm here to support my junior. Huh, junior, give me two grilled fish." Feeling Wang Feng's unfriendly gaze, Xu Sanshi decided to give up.

After Xu Sanshi took the grilled fish from Yuhao, he muttered, "Hmph, what's so great about that? You're just bluffing. Hey, this grilled fish tastes really good. Baji, Baji."

Nothing more happened after this small episode. After finishing the grilling task for today, Wang Feng brought Wang Dong and Huo Yuhao back to their lair.

Wang Feng, who originally wanted to greet Master Mu, but for some reason, he wasn't in his usual spot.

Upon reaching their room, Wang Feng saw a room that was spotless, with no stains in any corner. "Yuhao, you cleaned this so well. Our room looks so clean, someone who didn't know what was going on might think it's a girl's room."

Wang Dong and Huo Yuhao felt nervous after hearing Wang Feng's words. Wang Dong immediately changed the topic and said, "Why are you only mentioning Huo Yuhao? Didn't I help clean too?"

Wang Feng scoffed at Wang Dong, as if hearing a joke.

Feeling insulted by Wang Feng's smile, Wang Dong couldn't help but clench his fists, feeling that Wang Feng's expression really deserved a punch!

"Sooner or later, I'm going to punch your chest with my little hands!" That's what Wang Dong was thinking at that moment.

Wang Feng closed the door to the room, and then they did their own business.

.....

In the middle of Poseidon Lake, Poseidon Island.

In a room, there were two people facing each other. One was the elderly man who had offered an opportunity to Wang Feng, while the other was none other than Master Mu, the figure usually seen lounging in front of the Dormitory Building. He rarely spoke, and the students often walked past him without greeting him.

Now, Master Mu was lying on a lounge chair covered with clean white fabric. His half-closed eyes were staring at the elderly man.

The elderly man stood upright with a respectful posture. Anyone who knew him would recognize that this man was no ordinary person. He was Yan Shaoze, the Dean of the Department of Soul Martial Arts at Shrek Academy, one of the most influential figures at the Academy. However, in front of Master Mu, his attitude was full of respect.

"Why did you call me, Shaoze?" asked Master Mu in a calm tone. "Is something happening with Xiaotao?"

Yan Shaoze shook his head slowly. "It's not about Xiaotao, Master. Although she had some trouble this morning, she's doing much better now."

Master Mu nodded and smiled faintly, as if relieved. "If that's the case, then what's the purpose of your call now?"

Yan Shaoze smiled slightly. "I've found a very talented student among the new recruits. I want to bring him into the inner circle. His name is Wang Feng."

"Mm," Master Mu nodded slightly. "He is indeed a good and polite child. He's also talented. You can bring him into the inner circle, but he still has to pass the necessary tests to enter."

He paused for a moment before continuing, "If that's all you wanted to say, you wouldn't have called me here. Just tell me directly what you want."

Yan Shaoze paused for a moment, then continued softly, "Master... Wang Feng is actually a Twin Martial Soul."

Master Mu's eyes, which had been half-closed, widened slightly. For a moment, the atmosphere in the room became silent and heavy.

"Twin...?" Master Mu murmured. "What is his other martial soul?"

Yan Shaoze lowered his head, ready to explain. But before he could say anything, Master Mu spoke first.

"...Is it a Dragon Martial Soul?"

Yan Shaoze's expression shifted slightly with surprise, even glancing at Master Mu with admiration. "Master... you already sensed it."

Master Mu nodded. "When he first arrived, I could feel it. There's a very pure dragon aura in his body. At first, I thought it was just because one of his soul rings was a dragon. But now, you've confirmed it."

Yan Shaoze sighed and explained, "I myself was initially doubtful, but when he released his Martial Soul, his aura was even able to suppress me, even if only for a moment."

"I am certain that his Martial Soul cannot possibly be a normal dragon, and I even feel that the dragon lineage aura he emits is stronger than the Sacred Light Dragon lineage that you possess, Master."

Silence once again filled the room. After a while, Tuan Mu finally spoke.

"Shaoze, if what you're saying is true... perhaps he could be the one to guard Shrek next, replacing me."

Yan Shaoze bowed slightly deeper. "I feel the same way. That's why I think... he's not just an ordinary potential student. He could become the foundation of Shrek in the future."

"Take him to Poseidon Lake. But do not tell him who I am. I only want... to see for myself. Whether he is worthy, or just a flower growing in the wrong soil."

"Understood, Master." Yan Shaoze bowed even deeper, his voice carrying a deeper respect than before.

He then left, leaving Tuan Mu still reclining in his lounge chair. His eyes gazed toward the sky as if looking at the future.

........

A month passed quickly.

During that time, Wang Feng lived his days as usual at Shrek Academy—attending classes, training, and occasionally helping Huo Yuhao sell grilled fish.

Wang Feng's name had become quite well-known among the Outer Court students. His reputation soared after he defeated a senior on his first day at school, and this wasn't just any senior; it was one of the "Twin Stars of the Outer Court."

During this month, the bond between the three of them grew stronger. After discovering that Wang Feng had Twin Martial Souls, Huo Yuhao trained harder than ever, and Wang Dong also started increasing the intensity of his training to avoid falling too far behind Wang Feng.

Life seemed peaceful on the surface, but deep down, Wang Feng knew that a big decision was approaching.

That morning, the dormitory was still quiet. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating Wang Feng's face as he sat cross-legged on his bed, meditating peacefully.

Wang Dong and Huo Yuhao were outside, leaving Wang Feng alone in the room.

Suddenly, there was a light knock on the door.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Wang Feng slowly opened his eyes, stood up, and walked toward the door.

When he opened the door, a middle-aged man was standing there with a polite and serious expression.

The middle-aged man was none other than Master Li.

Wang Feng greeted him politely, "Good morning, Master Li. How can I assist you?"

Master Li gave a small nod and smiled faintly. "Good morning, Wang Feng. It's been a while. I've heard many good things about your progress over the past month."

Wang Feng smiled slightly in return and replied, "Thank you, Master. I'm just doing my best."

The two of them stood at the doorway for a moment, exchanging light pleasantries about training, academy activities, and even the increasingly popular grilled fish that Huo Yuhao had been making for the students. However, it didn't take long before the atmosphere became a little more serious.

Master Li finally got to the main topic. "Today marks exactly one month since your meeting with the Head of the Department of Martial Soul Cultivation. I've been sent to escort you to the meeting."

They walked out of the dormitory building. Throughout the walk, neither of them spoke a word.

Wang Feng became more familiar with the path they were taking and the direction they were heading.

His feelings proved correct when they arrived at the location. It was Poseidon Lake, and the meeting spot was at the edge of Poseidon Lake, where the event from a month ago had taken place.

There, standing in the familiar figure, was the elderly man who had made him the offer.

Master Li approached the elderly man and gave him a salute. "Dean, I've brought Wang Feng here."

The elderly man waved his hand and gave an order, "Good, you may leave now. I wish to speak with this child alone."

Master Li gave a final bow before turning and leaving the two of them. Now only Wang Feng and the elderly man remained at the edge of Poseidon Lake.

The elderly man slowly approached Wang Feng. Without any further pleasantries, he immediately got to the point. "Wang Feng, I've come here specially to meet you. So, what do you think of the offer I gave you?"

"Before that, could you please tell me your identity, Senior?" Wang Feng asked.

The elderly man squinted slightly and then replied, "My name is Yan Shaoze. I am the Dean of the Department of Martial Soul Cultivation."

Wang Feng was shocked. He hadn't expected the elderly man's identity to be so prestigious. He was actually one of the most influential people in the academy. Wang Feng was also surprised that the Dean himself had come to invite him personally.

Wang Feng took a deep breath, his eyes becoming more determined.

"I accept the offer."

A slow smile appeared on Yan Shaoze's face. He patted Wang Feng on the shoulder. "I guarantee, you won't regret this decision."

He assessed Wang Feng's condition and said, "I see you've been at level 30 for quite some time. I'll help you find a suitable spirit beast."

Wang Feng thought for a moment before replying, "Alright, I'll accept, albeit with some hesitation."
