In an apartment building, half an hour before the events, Nathan was trying to fall asleep.
—"Ahhh! I want to sleep, but I can't. Please, mind, turn off, just for once, please!" Poor Nathan tossed and turned in his bed.
Just as he was finally able to fall asleep, he felt the urge to urinate, so he had to reluctantly get up and go to the bathroom. When he returned to bed, he was no longer sleepy.
—"You piece of shit! Why are you betraying me? You need to rest too."
Anguished, Nathan tried for several minutes to find the most comfortable side of the bed. When he found it, he remembered something he read online about his insomnia.
—"Let's try to test what I read online. If I try to clear my mind and not think about anything, I'll eventually fall asleep. Let's do it!"
— "White, white, blank mind, come on, you can do it!"
— "White, white, blank mind, calm your mind"
— "Don't think about anything, White, white, blank mind"
Desperate, he tried for several minutes, to no avail, as boredom quickly set in. His imagination began to work again, revealing some sort of portal that appeared out of nowhere in front of him.
Through it, he could see a sunny landscape with a mountain over which a city in ruins lay. Several explosions were heard in the distance, as if fireworks were exploding, which he found strange since few times in his life had his imaginations generated such clear sounds.
Nathan, unaware that the portal had already swallowed him, continued to watch the passage as it fell from the sky to the ground from a great height, along with his bed. Bewildered by what was happening, he thought he was in a lucid dream and that he had already fallen asleep a long time ago, without realizing it.
—"Wow! The feeling of falling feels very real."
—"Since it's a lucid dream, then I can do whatever I want, ha ha ha ha ha." – Nathan, being a sane man, couldn't waste this opportunity, if you know what I mean.
—"Let's try to get to solid ground first. I suppose there might be something interesting in that ruined city."
—"If not, I can make it interesting." Nathan smiled as he imagined himself teleporting into the center of the city.
In less than a second, he disappeared in a flash and reappeared just as quickly inside the city.
—Since when can you smell blood in lucid dreams? Huh? – Nathan looked horrified at a destroyed city along with hundreds of corpses scattered in all directions.
—Two people in strange robes were fighting in the sky, causing shockwaves due to the collision of their blows.
...........................................................................…
Hidden behind a stone pillar, Nathan tried to deny the apparent reality, so he performed a series of tests to see if he was dreaming. And yes! He discovered that, as ridiculous and cliché as it might sound, he had unfortunately been transported to another world, and not just any world, but one of Wuxia.
— "Let's first analyze the situation. Although it's plausible that other planes with different worlds and realities exist, how did I end up here?" Nathan tried to find some logic to his appearance in this world.
— "While there are several ways to appear in another world according to the novels and series I've seen, it seems I don't fit any of them."
— "Since I didn't speak to any kind of god, I didn't summon any princess from some kingdom in trouble, I didn't die in an accident, I didn't receive any strange email from some video game that your fucking mother knows, I didn't play with a "sorcery" book that I accidentally found in an old bookstore. Those two guys don't seem to be from some novel I've been reading recently, and as far as I know, I'm not some kind of immortal emperor who was betrayed and reincarnated on Earth only to return to his world for revenge."
— "In conclusion, I believe I myself have some kind of ability, hence, I summoned that portal. I don't know how I did it, but "I have no other explanation," Nathan nodded several times, as if convincing himself.
Suddenly, a loud rumble and a powerful explosion shook the ground. Apparently, something like a meteorite had fallen not far from Nathan.
In the large hole created by the impact, an Elder with disheveled hair emerged, badly injured, his once-worn white robe in tatters soaked in blood.
—Old Mu! You weren't supposed to kill me and send me as an offering, ha ha ha ha, I'm still waiting for you to keep your word! – A cultivator in his thirties mocked, wearing an immaculate red robe, this was Deng Shen.
— Despicable brat, you have renounced your humanity and cultivated demonic techniques! – Old Mu vomited a large amount of blood.
— Humanity? I don't need it! What I want is power, enough to destroy all those who humiliated me.
— Now, Old Mu, tell me where that brat Ye Gui is hiding.
— If you talk, I will consider giving you a clean death, and if you still try hard to hide it, don't blame me for being fierce.
— Cough, cough.., Deng Shen, even if you crush these old bones and torture me for hundreds of years, I will never give up the last hope of my Plum Blossom Sect? Cough.. Cough? – Old Mu could barely stand on his feet.
— Plum Blossom Sect? Plum Blossom Sect? Plum Blossom Sect? Look around you, you old bastard. Your sect no longer exists. If you hadn't been so stubborn and had betrothed me to Mu Yurou and made me your successor, you'd still have the nerve to meet your ancestors.
— But you decided to snatch away what was rightfully mine, for a mere Ye Gui.
— A vagabond with no background! Who doesn't know how vast the heavens are and how deep the earth is. When I find him, I'll cripple him, chop him into pieces, and drink his blood.
— Cough, cough, cough, ouch! This old man has failed as a master by taking you as a disciple. How blind was I, a frog in a well? That's what you are, cough cough cough. Old Mu lamented in his heart.
If he had known that his disciple coveted his daughter, he would have crippled him long ago and locked him in a prison until he was nothing but bones. Thank goodness Ye Gui defeated him in the succession battle and expelled him from the sect.
— Well, you forced me to do it, I'll refine your soul and find out where they're hiding.
— As for that bitch Mu Yurou, I'll make her my puppet, I'll rape her day and night, ha ha ha ha.
— No matter what you do, cough, cough, you won't be able to find them. I don't even know where our founder's ancient portal leads. You've lost. Just wait a few years and Ye Gui will kill you like the dog you are, ha ha ha, cough, cough. Great mouthfuls of blood flowed from old Mu.
Deng Shen's face was red with anger, his whole body began to exude a thirst for blood.
Sitting in a chair that was found who knows where, Nathan was excited, listening to the story, as if it were a movie and he was a mere spectator.
— Oops! That's a good plot! — He inadvertently blurted out a few words.
Two pairs of eyes turned to look at the source of that voice. Nathan, noticing them looking at him, was shocked at how stupid he had been. He cleared his throat and said,
— Cough, cough, I think I'm lost. Where was my house?
He quickly walked in the opposite direction to the two cultivators.
— Barbarian! Stop immediately if you don't want to die! — A vicious voice ordered.
It was Deng Shen, who, angrily, made a movement with his hand as if waiting for something to happen. Nathan felt a faint current blowing around him, but it didn't move him even half an inch.
Surprised, Deng Shen put even more power into his grappling technique, but the strange barbarian didn't move more than a step toward him.
A slightly stronger wind tried to push Nathan away, but he found it easy to resist. It wasn't a big deal. He just noticed something when the strange wind blew: he was cold. This reminded him that he was half-naked, since he usually sleeps in his underwear.
— "Because I didn't realize it before, that's why they think I'm a barbarian."
— Cough, cough, ha ha ha ha, Deng Shen can't even deal with a mortal, cough.. cough.., you're not worthy of holding a candle to Ye Gui, much less marrying my Mu Yurou, cough, cough
Although it was strange that this barbarian, who didn't possess any cultivation, could resist, Old Mu didn't waste this precious opportunity to vent his anger and humiliate the bastard Deng Shen. At least he could go to the next world with a bit of compliance.
— A mere barbarian dares to resist you?! — Deng Shen had lost all his dignity.
Nathan broke out in a cold sweat as he watched Deng Shen point his index finger at him, forming a large sphere of blood.
—"What do I do?! At this rate, I'm going to die. There's no way I can defend myself against cultivators from another world. I'm just a normal person. Damn it!"
—Filthy barbarian, feel honored. I'll personally send you to your grave. Die!!"
A large blood projectile shot out of Demonic Cultivator Deng Shen's finger.
The projectile was moving at incredible speed, but halfway through its trajectory, it burst like a bubble and disappeared without a trace.
—…?!
—…!
—Brat Mu! Sorry for the delay. Today I will fulfill the promise I made to your ancestor.
A silhouette stood in the air near Nathan's position.
