Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: "I Transmigrated into the Male Lead"

Three weeks later. It's been three weeks since I've been transmigrated into this body, and I have learned next to nothing. I know that my name matches the male lead of the transmigration novel I was reading, the question is: which version? The original version or the transmigration version? I sat at the desk in the bedroom, feeling unfamiliar. It's been hard since I came here. First, I'm a boy now. I've spent my whole life as a girl and all of a sudden I'm a boy. I fainted when I went to the bathroom for the first time. How the heck to guys use... this..? I sighed and looked despondently at my pants.

"This sucks." I groaned. As if the first part wasn't hard enough, I'm getting bathed by twelve maids. I wouldn't have been able to stand people seeing my naked body when I was in my own body, showing off everything in this body is just weird. I've tried struggling, but they seem to smell fear. Third, my new parents are weird. Everyday they are having tea with me or talking to me. Even when I say something awkward. There are no judging stares or sighs or groans or the thing where their body melts into the chair. I'm getting complimented on my math skills. It's bizarre. I have no idea how to accept this.

"Oh! What is this drawing?" Lady LaVonche peered over my shoulder, startling me. I swallowed hard and covered up my drawing.

"It's nothing." I whispered. I had been doodling since I got here, mostly cartoon bunnies. Anyhow, nothing a noble should be drawing. Lady LaVonche wilts at how timid her son had become. I know I said I didn't learn much, however, I have learned this: "I" was an outgoing child. I also was very open and friendly. I am not. I'm an introvert. If I could have gotten by as a neet, I would have become one. There is no way to stress that enough. Her face looks so lost and disappointed, it's hard to ignore. So, I slid the picture of the bunnies out and let her see.

"Oh, my!" she gasps. I waited for the moment when she tells me that cartoons are beneath my station or something like that, but she only cradles the drawing in her arms. She looked happy. "Our Ever is so talented." I gape at her.

"It's just a doodle. Nothing special." I shrink into my chair. She scoops me up and gives me a kiss on the cheek.

"Not at all! It's lovely!" she carried me and the picture out the door, "We must show your father! He'll be so impressed!" I couldn't hide the panic. The duke? Impressed? By my-- my doodle? Not likely.

"Um, no, I don't... I don't think that's okay." I stuttered, trying to escape. Lady LaVonche pauses for only a moment.

"Why would you think that, dear?"

"It's not really worth showing anyone. Just a doodle. Don't bother Father with it." I shivered, feeling my blood run cold. Lady LaVonche was silent for a moment. She continued one and made her way to the office. The secretary had only just exited the office, he was a tall man with long, green hair held in a neat ponytail and round, thin-rimmed specs with a golden chain that hung down. He held a stack of papers in his arms, and was only momentarily stunned when he saw me. I flinched and looked away. It was clear my father was working right now, why would he want to be bothered with something so insignificant?

"Lady LaVonche," he greeted her formally, "Young Master." His voice was stern but also not filled with hate. I peeked over at him and was met with a warm gaze. Maybe they were on break? Lady LaVonche held up my drawing and showed it off proudly.

"Look at what my son drew!" she said, puffing out her chest. I hid my face in the crock her neck.

"What adorable bunnies." Alfred (the secretary) stated awkwardly.

"Aren't they though? This might be an artistic revolution!"

"Perhaps."

"Not perhaps! For sure!" she huffed, "Open the door, Alfred."

"Of course, My Lady. However, right now might be..."

"Alfred." My new mother leaned in, "Open it. Now." Both Alfred and I shivered before he gave in and opened the door. My mother trotted inside. I hadn't been to my new father's office yet. I knew such places were off-limits. Especially to useless children. Parents didn't like to bothered in their professional life.

"Ah. Elizabeth. What brings you-" my father's eyes landed on me. I flinched and hid away, This wasn't my idea! Please, please don't kill me! "Ever!" The happy voice startled me and I watched as a man who looked like he should be somewhat stoic jumped at me with flowers surrounding him.

"You both should have told me you were visiting Papa today! I would have had snacks prepared!" The butler and staff all began to clear away papers and got to work preparing tea. I sat despondent for a while. I caught my reflection again in the mirror. I had tried not to look at it. It was weird being me in a body that wasn't me. However, I looked cute..? I guess? My blond hair was tied back with a green ribbon, I wore a white tunic, with a purple overcoat, and a white sash. Overall, I was very pretty? Golden hair and eyes that looked like dawn gathering at the very end of night. Purple hazed with the coming sun. As the male lead of this game, I suppose it would make sense that I would look attractive. Still, a virgin fujoshi with awkward tendencies was not going to be a crowd favorite. Not to mention, I befall all sorts of tragedy while pursuing both female lead (in the original) and the villainess (in the book). All I want is to live a carefree life for gods sake!

Tea was served and I took a peek around the office for the first time. The staff were all dressed in maid and butler outfits, a dark blue with white blouses underneath and red ribbons tied in the front. The white hat that you always see adorned their heads. Those were the maids. As for the guys, they wore the usual stuff you'd imagine Sebastian wearing. The room was large with a giant desk and big chair standing before an even larger window. Outside the sun shined and the garden stood in the background. Before the desk was a few couches, long enough to seat three people each and a low coffee table. There were decretive plants in the four corners of the room and some paintings and whatnot everywhere else. I looked around in awe for a little bit before realizing my parents were watching me with relieved and warm expressions. I flinched and shrank a bit. I'm not the one you guys should be worried about. Where's the real Everette?

"What an adorable bunny!" My father gushed over my doodle, and I swore I saw flowers blooming around his head. I quietly sipped my tea, it was sweet. The two of them were really weird...

In the novel, Everette begins to run into trouble as soon as he enters the palace for the first time. In the original, he begins to go down the hellish path a few weeks before his debut. Either way, these girls were going to get him killed. So, I guess I need to figure out how to get exiled early? Maybe if I'm not in the country, I won't have to woo anyone and won't be subjected to horrible events every single time I run into these women. Still, I don't think things will be that simple. My current family is a little too powerful.

Time for a rundown of this world!

So the novel I read was called "I Became the Villainess?! So Why Is Everyone Obsessed with Me?!". In this novel, a normal high school girl was transmigrated into an otome game she was playing. This empire is known as Historia. Historia has five families holding it up. The base of this massive empire is the royal family. The Viauntes. One of the male leads routes was the second prince Victor Viaunte. He is the playboy of the royal family, but I digress. While the Viauntes held the crown their were four founding families: ours is one of them. Or should I Everette's is one of them. The LaVonche Dukedom, the western territory. There is also the Sienttes, the Eastern Dukedom, the Nezerontes, the Southern Dukedom, and lastly, the Fraunz, the Northren Dukedom. Each of these major families produce one of the male leads. There's the Temple (because why not?) where the sixth male lead has been raised as the next pope. Then we have the magic tower, cuz we have to have one of those, don't we? This is where the villain is raised. Also could call this crazy psychopath our final boss. Veronica, the original villainess, is totally used by him to cause minor incidents and strife. The point is nothing good can come from associating with the magic tower or any of the mages within. I'd have to be crazy.

Actually, maybe it's better to say that there is no way a founding house will be exiled so easily. Do I need to run away? I look over at my new family who is still gushing over my drawing. I suppose I could? Maybe..?
