Sipping the tea while reading a file, Mr. Shin seems to have no interest in Venisa's talks.
"Try to understand, Mr. Shin! Whatever you did is wrong! Totally wrong! I get that sometimes it's tough to handle him, but I'm doing it, right? I have been always doing it with my whole heart and care—"
She was cut off by Mr. Shin before she could finish the sentence.
"Care?" His eyebrows knit in mock amusement. Leaning back on his chair, he speaks. "I see. Care, you say? Is that right? Has Miss Venisa started to care, uh, way too much for her patient?"
Looking away, her eyes a bit glossy, desperately wanting to meet Cein again and keep treating him, but Mr. Shin is ruining it all. "Y... yes, care! I do care—"
Again, cut off by his sudden change of voice, Mr. Shin says harshly, "Miss Venisa, you aren't here to care for your patients. If you are too much of an emotional type of person, then I do suggest you leave or resign from here and live and care for your family or other strangers!"
He dismisses her with a sign of his hand, arrogantly going back to his work, reading something on his file, clearly trying to make her shut up and leave him.
With sadness, a bit of anger starts to rise in her heart. Her fists clenched helplessly. The anger... it's at her fate, her life, at God. Her eyes glossy, now a different kind of determination.
And something bad starts to form in her heart.
The love and madness make her blind. For some moments, in rage, she picks up her phone from the table and starts to leave. Her eyes shining with something... that might be good or bad or worse—for her, for him, Cein, for everyone, maybe.
Mr. Shin looks at her departed figure. Leaning back on his chair, he gazes at the sky through his window. The sky is dark, quiet, the winds blowing fast. Seems like it will be raining soon, he thinks, while again looking at the office door from where she just left moments ago.
"I hope you won't do anything... childish, Miss Venisa. It won't be good for... you, for anyone."
The wind is blowing fast. She is walking on the road, her mind a mess, a jumble of thoughts, eyes teary. Looking up at the dark sky, her tears stream down—eyes filled with sadness and a mix of anger and hurt.
Her voice, shivering but strong and loud.
"Why?? Why me?! God, you hate me so much that you snatched him away from me! Let me guess—you did this just because he is not good? Like they say? He is not good enough?! Like us? He is less of a human? He doesn't deserve anything in the world for what he has done?!"
Sinking down on the road, her head goes low, crying in pain and hurt.
Now, her voice is no longer strong and loud—just barely above a whisper, slow.
"I know, I know he did wrong. Very wrong. And I know he deserves his punishment, but... but I don't understand!! I need to! I tried! I did! I did! I did!"
Punching down on the road with her fists, she cries.
"I did! I swear I tried to tell myself how sinful he is, how much he doesn't—maybe really—deserve anything! Anything at all! But!... but I couldn't understand!"
Covers face with shivering hands, she cries, her cries muffled by her hands.
"That's why you are taking him away from me... I know, I know it all."
After some moments, she stops crying, her eyes now the color of slight red. Gets up, looks up at the sky, face hard, but still silent tears running down.
"I'm gonna do it. And I know you know what I mean. And yes, maybe I'm being selfish, but... but my mind is no longer working properly, God. My heart won over my mind! And maybe I hate it! But I don't want to! And... and I want my love... and I will get it."
Wipes tears harshly with the hem of her dress. Turns away and starts walking but stops suddenly and looks up at the sky, still eyes hard.
"He a sinner... I'm gonna be a sinner too.. I'm sorry."
Suddenly feels a tap of a hand on her shoulder. Confused for a moment, she turns to look at the person. Sees Miss Yuri with a concerned look in her eyes.
"Venisa, my child? The staff is inside. What are you doing out here without an umbrella? It might start raining soon. Everyone is leaving, you should al—"
She suddenly takes note of her eyes.
"Venisa?"
She immediately cups her face softly and asks, "Are you fine? Why are—"
She stops as something flickers in her mind. Her voice goes sad and full of empathy for her. She says,
"I know you have been crying, right? Because... the time is near."
Cein's death penalty.
Venisa's heart stops a beat.Her heart sinks completely.Her fists loosen.Breathing slows.
The background noises mute for now, for her, at this very tearful statement.
Voice shivering, she asks, "Is... it? One year is finished?"
With empathy, Miss Yuri replies with utter sadness, "Yes, Venisa. Time really flies by so fast...."
She places a hand on her shoulder and says with knowing eyes.Yes, knowing, because she knows it all. She knows. She has seen Venisa treating Cein...
Never normally.
Always with only one emotion in her eyes.
Yes, it was love. Forbidden but true.
"Meet Cein... tomorrow, early. He will be taken away to court by 10 AM. Meet him... for the last time."
She pats her shoulder and leaves the spare umbrella in her hand, smiling sadly, and leaves.
The moment Miss Yuri leaves and she is alone, the rain starts pouring all of a sudden hard.
She sits on a nearby bench, umbrella just untouched, lying next to her, her head low, eyes focused on nothingness. As if emotionless, she mutters to herself, completely lost at the moment.
"Till now... I... was gonna do that thing I planned, but was uncertain and unsure... But now I'm..."
Looks up straight, eyes shining with actual madness.
"Now, it has to be done. And... sure, I will... anything for you... Anything for you, my Cein."
