Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

The alcohol consumed throughout the night had not yet been fully broken down by gastric juices and was thus unceremoniously expelled onto the man.

The scene could only be described as "utterly disastrous."

Fu Yu wasn't exactly a clean freak, but anyone would be less than pleased to be vomited on.

Nansong wasn't done after throwing up; she even used his tie to wipe her mouth, then let out a drunken hiccup, "Sorry about that, couldn't hold it in."

Though she said "sorry," there wasn't a hint of remorse to be found from head to toe.

A vein throbbed at Fu Yu's temple, his naturally charming peach-blossom eyes now cold as daggers, his gaze firmly fixed on Nansong.

The woman was stunning, with skin so pale it seemed translucent, lips like peach petals pressed into a thin line, her face both radiant and clear, yet her demeanor didn't resemble that of a nightclub hostess, but rather a noble flower among mortals.

Beauty always softens the heart, and Fu Yu sighed, gradually quelling the steam rising from his head.

Bai Qi quickly stepped forward to retrieve Nansong, looking at Fu Yu who had been vomited on, "I'm sorry, sir, my sister had too much to drink."

The elevator doors opened, and as Bai Qi helped Nansong out, she turned back with a lavish air, "Take off your clothes, I'll pay for them!"

"Alright, let's go!"

Fu Yu also exited the elevator, watching as Bai Qi took Nansong into suite number 88, narrowing his eyes. That suite was the residence of the owner of Shuiyunjian, so that young master must be Bai Qi, the seventh son of the Bai family.

Then, what was the identity of the woman he called "sister"?

He hadn't heard of the Bai family having a young princess...

...

Yu Mansion. The study was quiet, Yu Jinwen focused intently on his work, the only sound the rustling of papers.

The impact of a single piece of copy was more troublesome than he had imagined.

The announcement of the marriage directly affected the brand effect, and the "One Heart for Life" jewelry series under the Yu Group was being boycotted by netizens. The public relations department proposed solutions: either delay the wedding until the heat died down, or continue to hype the love story between him and Zhuo Xuan, adding a layer of "true love for years, unwavering" filter, and best of all, to have the ex-wife come forward to admit that she was indeed the intruding third party.

Yu Jinwen's brow furrowed tightly; he hated mixing business with personal matters and would never cooperate with them for hype. Did these PR people think he was a third-rate celebrity?

With a lift of his pen and a sweep of his hand, Yu Jinwen immediately wrote: Suspend the "One Heart for Life" series and quickly launch a new brand project.

Looking at the stock and fund situation, Yu Jinwen's eyes darkened as he dialed his assistant, "Has the final payment for the western medical charity project been transferred?"

"Yes, it was received three days ago."

"Get in touch with Editor Yang from 'Jinghua Daily,' he knows what to do."

"Understood."

He worked late into the night.

Yu Jinwen glanced at the time, his sword-like brows slightly furrowed. There had been no news by now; someone's efficiency was much lower than before.

As if reading his mind, his phone rang loudly, and he answered, "Hello."

As soon as the call connected, before he could "demand an explanation," the other party blurted out, "I say, buddy, I've been checking the information you sent me all night, and your ex-wife simply doesn't exist."

Yu Jinwen had imagined many possibilities, but he never expected such an answer, his brows knitting heavily, "What are you saying?"

Fu Yu stared at his computer, quite frustrated, "Your guess was right, a hacker did infiltrate the surveillance within a hundred miles of your home, erasing your wife's tracks, and it was done shortly after she left. All the information was wiped out. But as long as she is a real person, there must be some traces to find. However, your ex-wife's identity was probably fake from the start."

Yu Jinwen's eyes were filled with layers of frost, his hand gripping the pen tightening slowly, "Are you saying that all the information I gave you is fake?" "Yes, if the information is fake, how can we find the real person?"

Fu Yu didn't say much serious before starting to joke, "What kind of woman did you marry, so mysterious, could she be an alien, or some kind of ghost?"

Yu Jinwen said coldly, "Fu Yu."

"Alright, alright, no joking. If there were photos, I could help you investigate further. I mean, you were married for three years, and you know nothing about her? The information is fake, and even the name might not be real, no photos either, I'm starting to doubt if you were really married?" Fu Yu was quite the chatterbox, "You haven't sorted out the ex-wife yet, and you're about to marry again, have you thought this through?"

Yu Jinwen ignored his rambling, got up and went to the master bedroom, opened the bedside drawer, and pulled out two marriage certificates, "Can we use the photos on the marriage certificate?"

"Send them over, I'll give it a try."

Yu Jinwen didn't hang up, he just took a photo and sent it over.

Fu Yu's light laughter came through the phone, "Your wife is quite beautiful, looks like the virtuous wife and loving mother type... Wait, this face looks so familiar?"

Fu Yu zoomed in on the photo, then out, then in again, "Hold on, don't hang up."

He quickly transferred the photo to his computer, used a photo editing software to crop the bride from the marriage certificate, slightly lifted her long hair to make it short, added some makeup, and a radiant, clear face emerged.

"Oh, my god!" Fu Yu was stunned.

Yu Jinwen, on the other end of the phone, was puzzled, but his heart lifted with Fu Yu's reaction, "What's wrong?"

Fu Yu swallowed hard and spoke into the phone, "I think I've seen your ex-wife. She's right here in Nancheng."
