Chapter 35: Ghost Ship
Even when the hot pot was almost finished, no one touched that lump of 'tamagoyaki'.
"It's such a waste."
Lily picked up a piece of black charcoal and took a bite. Sag didn't even have time to stop her. He watched as she chewed a few times and swallowed.
"Are you okay? Do you need to go to a hospital? Anyone, someone who knows medicine, get a ship's doctor!" Sag shouted.
Of course, there were no hospitals at sea. Perhaps there were some mobile hospitals at sea, but Sag hadn't encountered any.
The subordinates he had recruited were basically combat personnel. Where would he find a ship's doctor?
"Why would I need a doctor?" Lily asked strangely, stuffing the remaining charcoal into her mouth, showing a happy expression.
It seemed... to taste good?
Sag subconsciously looked at Renettia.
"Is it really delicious?"
Renettia blinked, picked up the tamagoyaki in front of her, first sniffed it with her little nose, and after confirming that she didn't smell anything strange, took a small bite. Her lively big eyes trembled.
Her pupils, from shock to confusion, to reminiscence... after a flash of numerous emotions, they finally became like a Buddha's enlightenment, turning into a kind of peace, and then from peace to the emptiness of all things, and finally lost their luster.
Like a puppet, Renettia handed the tamagoyaki she was holding to Sag, her tone flat, like she was reciting lines, "Sag, this is very delicious. Try it."
Sag immediately retreated, shaking his head. "Such a low-level trick, I've used it to death."
Lily looked at Renettia and asked, "Renetti, aren't you allergic to eggs?"
"Yes, I'm allergic to eggs..."
Renettia's hand loosened, and she fell backward directly, fainting.
Sag broke out in a cold sweat.
He didn't know if she was allergic to eggs, but he understood that this thing was unpalatable.
"Renetti! Renetti!"
Lily hurried over, shaking Renettia. She turned her head. "Sag..."
"It's okay, it's indeed 'allergies'. She'll be fine after fainting for a while. It's not a big problem."
Sag waved his hand, and then his face became serious towards Lily. "Lily, you're too much!"
"Huh?" Lily was puzzled.
"How can a navigator cook? Don't do this kind of thing in the future!"
Sag shouted, "You're a cadre. Besides your own duties, you can enjoy yourself like me. Don't do these meaningless things. It will squeeze the living space of your subordinates. If you do everything, isn't that just being too卷(competitive/workaholic)? Whether you're a pirate or not, you can't be too 卷!"
This thing, he couldn't say that she really cooked badly. That little girl had been poisoned by your hands.
They were subordinates, and she was the first person to follow him in starting this business. She just cooked a meal. He was still understanding in this area, so he said it tactfully.
"Captain Sag!"
Gin ran in and said, "We saw an island!"
Although it was a party, someone had to be watching. The control room on the third floor still needed pirates to watch. Sag used a rotation system, randomly selecting two to stand watch, and then finding two more to rotate.
Gin had gone up an hour ago. Even though he was the combat captain, he didn't seem to put himself in a cadre position. He dutifully did every job belonging to a pirate.
In his eyes, the cadres were special.
Lady Lily was the navigator and the first person to follow Captain Sag, so of course she was a cadre.
Lady Renettia, although young and just entering the pirate crew, was a Devil Fruit ability user and the creator of this huge ship, so of course she was also a cadre.
As for himself... besides being able to fight, he couldn't do anything.
Even in combat, he was learning the moves taught by Captain Sag, and he was still far from enough.
"An island... Wake up."
Sag went to Renettia, grabbed her by the collar, and shook her a few times, making Renettia wake up and take a deep breath.
"Wow! I just saw my master. He smiled kindly at me and beckoned me to go find materials to make even better treasure ships. The oceans there are different, emitting a very strange blue aura..." Renettia said in a daze.
"That's the ocean of hell. Don't look at it next time! Lily."
Sag gave her a tap on the back of the head, and then looked at Lily.
Lily nodded, found a window, looked at the discovered island with a telescope, and confirmed, "Sag, we've arrived. It's Shallow Sand Kingdom."
...
Shallow Sand Kingdom was not an island nation. It was located on a landmass in the northern part of the East Blue. There were many countries on this landmass, and Shallow Sand Kingdom was just a small coastal country.
The terrain of the country was mostly shallow beaches, covered with sand. There were no harbors around, but on the beach, there were huge sand houses made of sand. On the beach, there were also many fishermen catching fish with nets.
One of the fishermen, looking at the huge dark clouds gradually approaching, was suddenly startled and turned his head to shout, "A storm is coming! Everyone be careful! Run inland! Don't be swept away!"
"No, wait, look... there's a ship!"
Another fisherman's pupils contracted, pointing at the storm under the dark clouds, and gradually trembled. "On the ship... there's no one!"
In the gloomy sky amidst the storm, with a flash of lightning and thunder, a huge black ship was illuminated, approaching them. This huge ship showed no signs of damage under the violent storm, looking brand new as if it had just been built, but not a single person could be seen!
The lookout tower on the mast, the huge deck... there wasn't a single person. Coupled with the lack of damage, and the huge storm that followed the ship closely...
"Ghost, a ghost ship!" the fisherman shouted in terror. "It's a ghost ship! A ghost ship from hell! They're coming to take us away. Run!!"
The legend of the ghost ship existed everywhere on the sea, and even the legends of each sea area were different.
There was the legend of the 'Flying Dutchman', which could never return home.
There were also ghost ships that emerged from the bottom of the sea, accompanied by giant sea monsters.
There were also island ships full of zombies and ghosts...
Now, a ghost ship appearing from the storm seemed to be no problem.
The arrival of the huge ship made the fishermen near the sea drag their nets and run towards the interior of the beach. But how could their speed compare to the speed of the approaching dark clouds? Soon, the entire area covered by sand was shrouded in shadow, and strong winds and heavy rain fell, turning the surroundings pitch black.
That huge ship also docked at the shallows.
*Boom!*
Lightning struck, bringing a burst of light. A fisherman who was running slowly subconsciously looked back, and saw that below the obviously unmanned ship, on the shallows, several golden glows had inexplicably appeared. Under that glow, a row of figures suddenly appeared, slowly approaching them.
"Ghost!!"
The fisherman screamed in terror, his eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
Sag moved forward. As he moved, the jewelry and gold ornaments on his hands emitted light under the lightning. He heard the sound and looked around. "Where? Where are the ghosts?"
Were there ghosts at sea?
It didn't seem like there was such a thing. Or was it a Devil Fruit ability user?
"It's so dark, we suddenly appeared, it's possible we were mistaken,"
Under the wind and rain, Lily's hair was wet and turned into straight, golden hair. The rain stuck to her clothes, outlining her beautiful figure.
Sag frowned, stroked his chin, thought for a while, and shook his head. "What are you talking about? I'm a pirate, not a ghost."
