Luna Everleigh's POV
***
The world blurred as I stumbled back, my breath ragged. The forest floor was damp beneath my palms, the scent of earth and blood thick in the air. My heart slammed against my ribs, my pulse deafening in my ears.
And in front of me, the beast moved.
A monstrous wolf, larger than anything I had ever seen, stood over the lifeless body of the creature that had attacked me. Its fur was dark as midnight, sleek and glistening under the pale sliver of moonlight filtering through the trees.
Its chest rose and fell with slow, deliberate breaths, as if the battle had been nothing more than an inconvenience.
I should have looked away. Should have tried to run.
But I couldn't.
Its eyes—silver and burning—were locked onto mine.
A shiver ran through me, something deep and primal twisting in my core.
The wolf took a step forward, and I flinched. My body screamed at me to move, to flee, but my limbs refused to obey.
I was trapped beneath its gaze, drowning in the weight of its presence.
Then, it spoke.
A deep, resonant voice, low and edged with something possessive.
"You are mine."
