Chapter 43 - Chapter 42

Luna Everleigh's POV

***

The battlefield had been loud just seconds ago.

Now, an eerie silence followed the explosion of energy from my body.

I stood in the center of it all, chest rising and falling rapidly, my fingers trembling. The ground beneath me was scorched, blackened in a perfect circle around where I stood. Bodies—both hunters and wolves—were scattered, some groaning in pain, others completely still. The very air hummed, thick with something I didn't understand.

I lifted my gaze and found Rhydian staring at me, his golden eyes sharp with something between shock and fear.

"Luna," he said, his voice strained, as if he was holding himself back. "We need to get you out of here. Now."

I wanted to argue, to tell him I could still fight. But before I could speak, a new sensation rippled through me. My vision blurred for a second, and when it refocused, everything looked… different. Brighter. Sharper. As if I could see the world through a new lens.

And then I saw my reflection.

A puddle of water near my feet showed my face—except it wasn't my face.

My eyes. They weren't their usual hazel.

They glowed.

Not golden, not silver. But a shade of luminous violet.

A color that shouldn't exist in any human… or any werewolf.

I stumbled back, but Rhydian was already there, grabbing my wrist. His touch was steady, grounding, yet I could feel the tension radiating from him. He was holding me, but I couldn't tell if he was holding me to protect me—or to protect everyone else from me.

"Come on," he murmured, his voice unusually soft but urgent. "Before it happens again."

I didn't even know what it was.

To be continued...
