Chapter 79 - Chapter 78

Luna Everleigh's POV

***

Light enveloped us.

It was warm, soft, and endless, wrapping around my body like the embrace of something ancient and divine. For a brief moment, I felt weightless, suspended between two worlds.

Then, the world shifted.

I gasped as my feet hit solid ground. The sharp scent of rain and blood filled my lungs. A cool wind swept through my hair, carrying the distant echoes of battle.

We were back.

Rhydian was beside me, his grip on my hand unrelenting. His chest rose and fell in quick, shallow breaths, his golden eyes darting around as if making sure this was real.

The battlefield was eerily silent. The Devourer was gone. The sky, once filled with unnatural darkness, was now streaked with the first hints of dawn.

Morganna's crumpled form lay motionless in the distance. Her once-powerful presence had faded, leaving behind only the husk of the monster she had become.

We had won.

And yet…

Something inside me felt wrong.

A shiver crawled up my spine as I reached inward, searching for the Lunar Guardian's power—the force that had been a part of me since the moment I had accepted my destiny.

But there was only emptiness.

Cold. Hollow. Gone.

My knees buckled. Rhydian caught me before I hit the ground.

"Luna?" His voice was sharp with concern.

I opened my mouth to answer, but no words came. My head swam, my body suddenly so small without the divine energy that had once surged through my veins.

I was just Luna now. No longer the chosen. No longer the Guardian.

And I didn't know how to feel about it.
