Luna Everleigh's POV
***
"Luna!"
Rhydian's voice shattered the suffocating silence.
I turned, my breath catching as I saw him standing at the edge of the abyss, his silver eyes burning like embers against the endless dark.
For a moment, something inside me stirred.
A flicker of recognition. A tether to who I was.
But then Morganna's presence surged through me again, her sorrow seeping into my bones, whispering truths that felt undeniable.
"You were never meant to be one of them."
"You were always meant to be mine."
The weight of it pressed against my chest, suffocating and absolute.
Rhydian took a step forward. "Luna, listen to me," he said, his voice steady, though I could hear the strain beneath it. "This isn't you."
I opened my mouth to respond, but no words came.
Because what if it was me?
What if the Luna he loved had never truly existed?
What if I had always been meant for this—wrapped in sorrow, consumed by the darkness Morganna had left behind?
Seraphine's voice coiled around us like smoke. "You're wasting your breath, Rhydian," she said smoothly. "She's already accepted what she is."
She stepped closer, the fabric of her midnight gown rippling like the surface of black water. Her gaze flicked to Rhydian, assessing him. "But you," she mused, "you still have a choice."
Rhydian stiffened.
Seraphine smiled. "Think about it. If you let her go—if you let me guide her—she'll survive this. She'll become more powerful than you could ever imagine. And you… You could have something even greater. I can give you power beyond anything the Lycans have ever known."
She extended a hand toward him, her expression serene.
"Join me, Rhydian. Together, we could rewrite the rules of this world."
I waited for a pause, for a flicker of hesitation.
But Rhydian didn't falter.
His eyes locked onto mine, unwavering. "I don't care about power," he said, his voice rough with emotion. "I only care about her."
Something cracked inside me.
A fracture in the darkness.
Rhydian took another step forward, his gaze never leaving mine. "Luna, listen to me. You are not Morganna. You are not Seraphine. And you are not what they say you are."
The abyss trembled beneath my feet.
"You are Luna Sinclair," he said fiercely. "You are my mate. And I will fight for you, even when you won't fight for yourself."
