What was going on?
Wasn't Lin Huan supposed to be an actor in some twisted play, hired by the Chen family?
Then why had Xie Ren destroyed his arm, and why did Lin Huan just stand there, not even attempting to resist?
"Lin Huan, your son is far too troublesome, and I find him utterly disgusting. Today, it's time for the sins of the son to be paid for by the father!" Xie Ren's voice was cold.
Before Lin Huan could even react, Xie Ren's spiritual energy surged once more, this time blasting off Lin Huan's arm. The sound of bone snapping echoed, and blood splattered onto the stone floor.
"Master, please, spare me! I'll kill my unfilial son to atone for my sins!" Lin Huan's voice cracked, his desperation palpable as he clutched his bleeding arm.
Xie Ren's expression remained unmoved. "Alright, then. Kill Lin Feng right now."
He wasn't worried about Lin Huan attempting to turn the tables. If the man dared to challenge him, one thought would be all it took to put an end to him. Xie Ren had no fear of retaliation.
Lin Huan's breathing became erratic as he looked at his son. Rage mixed with regret twisted his features.
"Unfilial son, this is all your fault! Now, you shall die!" Lin Huan's voice shook as he stepped toward Lin Feng, his hands trembling but still determined.
"Father, I'm your son, Lin Feng! Are you really going to attack me?" Lin Feng's voice faltered, a mix of disbelief and fear filled his words.
Lin Huan trembled, a maelstrom of emotions crashing through him, fear, regret, and hopelessness. Yet, his hands didn't stop.
A golden aura began to envelop his palm, and with a violent thrust, his qi surged forward, crashing into Lin Feng's chest like an unrelenting mountain.
Boom!
There was a loud sound as Lin Feng's body was thrown backward, slamming into the stone wall with a thunderous crack.
The impact sent shockwaves through the room, and a mouthful of blood exploded from his lips, staining his robes a dark crimson. His dantian trembled violently, his Qi meridians felt like they were being shattered in the wake of the blow.
Lin Feng coughed, clutching his abdomen as pain wracked his body. His vision blurred as he tried to catch his breath. His own father had truly tried to kill him.
"Are you mocking me? Why is he still breathing? Did you even try?" Said Xie Ren
Lin Huan's face turned ashen. His voice quivered as he spoke, "M-Master Xie, I swear on my life, I used enough force to kill him!"
Xie Ren's narrowed gaze bored into Lin Huan. The blow he had witnessed had been lethal, there was no mistake. Any other Foundation Establishment cultivator, even those at the peak stage, would have been killed by such an attack.
But Lin Feng was the child of destiny. As the system had explain to him before that killing a child of destiny will not die easily, so he had expected him to survive like a cockroach.
Lin Feng slowly lifted his head, his eyes filled with seething fury. The pain in his body was great, but it paled in comparison to the rage that now burned in his heart.
His gaze, once filled with disbelief, was now sharp. He turned his eyes from Xie Ren to Lin Huan.
"Hah…" Lin Feng exhaled a raspy breath, blood still dripping from the corner of his lips.
"From today onward, the ties of blood between us are nothing more than dust in the wind. You, Lin Huan, are no longer my father. And I am no longer your son."
A sudden surge of energy erupted from Lin Feng's body, and the air around him seemed to vibrate with the power he was summoning.
A faint golden glow began to surround him, its brilliance growing with each passing second. The spiritual energy around him stirred as if the very heavens were responding to his call.
Whoosh!
A golden talisman appeared before him, torn and ancient, its inscriptions flickering with otherworldly light. It was a sight that sent shockwaves through the room.
"A Teleportation Talisman?! Impossible!" someone gasped from the crowd, their voice filled with disbelief.
These talismans were priceless, rare treasures that could only be obtained through immense wealth or dangerous, arduous secret realms. Few would ever use such a treasure unless their lives were in immediate danger.
Lin Feng's lips curled into a bitter smile. "You may be stronger than me today, but are you truly prepared for the consequences of making me your enemy?"
"Mark my words, when I return, I will burn the Chen family to the ground. You, this clan, everything you love will be reduced to ashes."
"No, you don't." Before he could finish, Xie Ren flicked his fingers dismissively. An invisible force surged through the air, striking the talisman with an audible crack.
Lin Feng's eyes widened in panic as he watched the light of the talisman begin to flicker, its brilliant glow dimming rapidly.
"No… No, this can't be happening!"
"Finish him."
In the blink of an eye, Lin Huan was before his son, his expression grim and twisted with emotion.
Lin Feng barely had time to react before a devastating punch landed in his abdomen.
Boom!
The force of the blow was devastating. A shockwave surged through Lin Feng's body, obliterating his internal organs, collapsing his meridians, and rupturing his dantian.
His body shook violently as the strength drained from his limbs, leaving him feeling weightless, and helpless.
Lin Feng's vision blurred. His thoughts scattered as everything around him faded into darkness.
The strongest genius of Empyrean Cloud City, the pride of the Lin family, had fallen. And in the end, it was his own father who had brought about his destruction.
"Master, I've killed Lin Feng! Please, spare me!" Lin Huan's voice trembled as he fell to his knees
"No, it's your turn to accompany your son."
Before Lin Huan could even process the words, his body was engulfed in a violent explosion of blood and flesh. The sound of shattering bones and bursting blood vessels rang out, leaving nothing behind but a cloud of mist.
Lin Huan, the proud head of the Lin family, a cultivator at the mid-stage Golden Core, was no more. He had thought he could escape his sins, but in the end, his own life had been forfeit.
A man who could so easily cast aside his son to save his own skin could become too dangerous to be left alive. So Xie Ren killed him.
With the Lin family's patriarch and his son dispatched, Xie Ren's gaze shifted toward the crowd. His eyes locked onto Chen Yinyin.
"Disciple, are there any others here who have bullied you?"
