Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: "The Awakening"

Darkness.

It stretched endlessly, swallowing everything in its void. There was no pain, no sound—just emptiness. An infinite abyss where time had no meaning.

Then, suddenly, light.

A sharp gasp tore from my lips as my lungs burned, forcing air into them like I had been drowning moments before. My body jerked awake, muscles seizing from the cold that had settled deep into my bones. My fingers curled against damp earth, gripping at the sensation like it was the only thing anchoring me to reality. My heartbeat thundered in my ears—erratic, frantic.

I was alive.

The scent of pine and wet soil filled my senses, grounding me. Slowly, I forced my eyes open, blinking against the dim, overcast light.

A dense forest surrounded me.

Towering trees loomed overhead, their skeletal branches stretching against a gray sky. Shadows clung to the thick undergrowth, the air damp and heavy with the scent of rain. In the distance, water dripped from the leaves in a slow, rhythmic pattern—the only sound in the quiet wilderness.

Where… was I?

More importantly… who was I?

My breath hitched as the question echoed in my mind, sending a shiver down my spine that had nothing to do with the cold. There was something unsettling about the hollowness I felt—like I was missing pieces of myself.

I swallowed, ignoring the unease curling in my stomach. Answers wouldn't come if I sat here doing nothing.

Forcing my stiff limbs to move, I pushed myself up. My body felt strangely light, yet unfamiliar, like I was wearing a suit tailored for someone else. My clothes—a dark jacket, jeans, and sneakers—were damp, clinging to my skin. I ran a hand through my hair, fingers catching slightly on the strands.

Something felt... off.

My gaze flickered to a shallow puddle nearby, its surface reflecting the dull gray sky. Steeling myself, I leaned forward and peered into the water.

And froze.

White hair.

Piercing blue eyes.

A face that wasn't mine—but one I still recognized.

My heart pounded violently against my ribs.

That wasn't me.

At least… not the me I remembered.

A dull ache pounded in my skull, fragmented memories flickering at the edge of my consciousness. I reached for them, desperate for something solid—anything to make sense of this. But they slipped through my fingers like sand, leaving only blurred remnants in their wake.

I clenched my fists, inhaling sharply through my nose. Something wasn't right.

Panic clawed at the edges of my mind, but I forced it down. Now wasn't the time to break apart. I needed to focus. I needed to understand.

The first step?

Figuring out where the hell I was.

With no other options, I started walking.

---

Time blurred as I moved through the endless sea of trees, my footsteps crunching softly against damp leaves. The cold bit into my skin, but I barely noticed. My mind was too preoccupied, trying to piece together the scattered fragments of memory.

I knew I wasn't in my original body. That much was obvious. But why this form? Of all appearances, why did I look like—

I pushed the thought away before it could spiral into something worse.

I needed facts.

I knew my name. Ash.

Beyond that? Everything else was either fractured or missing.

A frustrated sigh escaped me. The silence of the forest was oppressive, the towering trees pressing in from all sides. I couldn't stay here forever.

After what felt like hours, the dense woodland finally began to thin, the distant hum of civilization growing louder. My legs ached, exhaustion creeping into my bones, but I kept moving.

Then, I saw it.

A rusted green road sign stood crookedly at the side of a cracked asphalt road, its paint chipped and weathered by time.

The words, though faded, were still readable.

"Welcome to Forks."

My breath hitched.

Forks.

A single word—one that sent a sharp jolt of familiarity through me. My fingers tightened around the edge of my jacket as unease curled in my stomach.

Why did that name feel… significant?

I took a hesitant step forward—

—only for a sudden pain to explode in my head.

I staggered back, clutching my skull as a flood of memories crashed into me with the force of a tidal wave.

A small, rainy town.

A girl with brown hair and hesitant smiles.

A family with golden eyes, watching from the shadows.

And then—a realization that hit me like a freight train.

This is Twilight.

My breath came in shallow, uneven gasps as I struggled to process the truth.

Somehow, I had been reincarnated into the world of Twilight.

But why?

And more importantly… who was I supposed to be in all of this?

---

By the time I stumbled into town, the sky had darkened, thick clouds overhead threatening more rain. The distant glow of streetlights illuminated the wet pavement, their faint flickering casting eerie reflections across puddles.

I was exhausted. My limbs felt leaden, my head still throbbing from the influx of memories. Every step was an effort, but I pushed forward, letting my instincts guide me.

At this point, I had confirmed a few things:

1. I was definitely not in my original body. My new reflection resembled Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, which only added to my confusion.

2. My memories were fractured. I could recall bits and pieces of my past life, but there were still massive blanks. I knew Twilight, but I couldn't remember my own full name.

3. I had no idea why I was here—or if I even had a purpose in this world.

And perhaps the most uncertain thing of all?

I was still human.

For now.

A shiver ran down my spine, but whether it was from the cold or the implications of my situation, I wasn't sure.

A sudden wave of dizziness hit me, forcing me to lean against a lamppost for support. My stomach twisted painfully, hunger gnawing at me like a desperate beast. Whatever had happened to me, it didn't change the fact that I needed food.

I exhaled slowly, forcing myself to stand upright.

Answers would have to wait.

For now, I had one priority.

Survival.

Pushing forward, I spotted a small diner up ahead. Warm light spilled from its windows, the scent of food drifting faintly through the air.

I didn't hesitate.

Shoving my exhaustion aside, I stepped inside.

One thing was clear—

Whatever had brought me here… whatever force had decided my fate—

It wasn't done with me yet.

End of Chapter 1

Hello dear readers!

Yes, it's me—your beloved author, the mastermind behind this masterpiece (and occasional chaos).

I come bearing groundbreaking news—I have finally done it. After years of questionable science experiments, caffeine-fueled all-nighters, and ignoring all warnings from sane individuals, I have built a time machine.

Yes, you heard that right. A fully functional, totally safe (probably), and only slightly illegal time machine.

Why have I traveled back in time, you ask? To stop a world-ending catastrophe? To warn my past self about that embarrassing moment I can never live down? Nope.

I came back to fix this chapter.

Why now? Well… because the present version of me is currently drowning in an overwhelming workload, staring blankly at the next chapter like it owes me money. So, instead of forcing my exhausted brain to create something new, I thought, Hey! Why not make the previous chapters even better?

So here we are—me, you, and an upgraded version of this chapter that is shinier, smoother, and 30% more refined.

Enjoy the improvements! And let me know—did I fix my past mistakes, or did I just create a new timeline where everything is even more chaotic? Either way, it's too late. The time machine ran out of fuel.

Enjoy!
