Chapter 4 - 4. Council of Athamana

Citar of the Bolacsuk tribe returned to his own room at the end of a long and eventful day, yawning hard. Although he quickly came to like the newcomer they found during their job, aven he was surprised that the tribal chief had entrusted the boy to his care. After all, Citar is not exactly famous for his reliability in the tribe and this was the first time that he has really been entrusted with something and not just anything, but a new member. So Citar's mood became very positive by the end of the day. With such feelings in his heart, he took a seat in the middle of his room and closed his eyes.

"Hi guys!" He said as loudly as he could in his mind.

"Finally you show up, Citar! The boss has almost started the meeting without you." The answer came immediately, through the particular communication system that makes Citart and his friends, the Athamana, as they call themselves, special. Thanks to this system no matter where they are in Madüjawr the boys are able to reach each other. They also need it because, each member of the seven-person team comes from a different tribe, so when they have to be home with their tribe during the summer they can't meet, but their friendship is so deep that they talk once a week in the summer too.

"It wasn't my fault, Teveli! They put a newbie in my care!" Grumbled Citar, to the boy belonging to the ghost summoner Koál tribe, who usually serves as the conciliation judge on the team, beacuse more than once the boys jump at each others necks.

"You are just trying to save your ass Bolacsuk!" Came a new voice and Citar just rolled his eyes.

"Shut up, Suk!" He scolded the boy, who in turn just laughed at the reaction.

"That's how you talk to the one who saved your life last time? If I weren't there, you'd be pushing up daisies right now!" Answered the boy belonging to the healer Zovárd tribe, and his words made Citar shut up.

"Don't start arguing now! If I'm not mistaken, that's our business, isn't it Achilles?" The new speaker was one of the members of seven-membered team's always arguing pair, Benkó, the son of the chief of the waterbender Bokló tribe.

"I agree with the peeing boy. You didn't get permission from the boss to quarrel." Spoke Achilles, of the earthbender Motumisz tribe.

"Who do you call peeing boy?" Benkó shouted so loudly that Citar involuntarily put his hands on his ears, though that didn't help the situation, as the voice came not from outside but from inside his head.

"Enough, the boss wants to talk." The owner of the latest voice was Wandi, the son of the leader of the Vojk tribe, famous for their sword wielding, and who, although speaks little, when he does so every member of the team listens attentively.

"Thank you, Wandi." Spoke, the team leader, the next chief of the tribe of spiritual seers, the Zaukán tribe, whose name is Razvan. "I hope your newcomer will not distract you from your duties Citar."

"Don't worry for a minute, boss! I'm in control of everything." The boy replied enthusiastically.

"Now I'm starting to worry." Suk spoke again.

"Calm down boys, we're not in a hurry. We won't see each othet till the middle of next month. You all came to the Heginjülin, right?" Upon hearing the question, the team snorted as one person.

"This seriously should be asked boss?" Achilles inquired.

"You heard it don't you, dirtmind?" Benkó said.

"Boys!" Teveli cut in.

"You won't beleive it, I saw a live griffin today!" Citar started a new topic.

"Like last time?" Benkó asked back.

"Or like the time before that, when you saw a phoenix?" Aked Suk.

"Stop it already! I'm serious!" Citar growled and even folded his arms in front of him, although the others didn't see anything of it.

"That's enough. That's not why we came together for this discussion." Razvan stopped the team from talking. "We should have a normal meeting at the Heginjülin to discuss how to achieve our goals." The team leader explained.

"Wasn't our goal last time, to take the lead from our old men?" Citar was surprised, and that made a few of his friends laugh.

"That's our long-term goal. Until we're all adults, we'd better not start. These goals are related to our moonwalks this year." The member of the Bolacsuk tribe was enlightened by the leader of the team.

"Ah, well, that makes sense." The boy laughed to himself. "Um ... Boss, would it be a big deal if I left now?" He asked and scratched his neck with his right hand.

"Where's the hurry?" Came the surprised question from the boss's consciousness.

"I have to show the newbie around tomorrow and the tribe chief told me we need to take him on a moonwalk, so I'll have a long day." He sighed.

"It's okay, Citar. We'd better go too. We'll meet at Heginjülin next month then, at the initiation ceremony." Razvan gave the order, and the team members agreed at once, then the voices slowly faded in Citar's mind.

"It's time to get some sleep." The boy yawned and leaned down on his bed to be driven into his deep dreams almost immediately. The next morning, he woke up bursting with energy and, after taking on his usual green attire and straightening his hair, he snapped one and waited in silence. It was barely a minute before a lynx, which reached up to his knees appeared next to his feet.

"Good morning, Lynx!" He stroked the animal's head. "Come I'll introduce you to the new boy. You will like him, Rahul also has a feline, maybe you could be friends." The boy explained enthusiastically as he took to the corridors of Hegyfok to find his newest friend. Rahul was already awake when he reached the room. "Good morning."

"Good morning to you too, Citar." The long brown-haired and strangely pale purple-eyed boy smiled at him. "Who's your little friend?" Rahul looked at the animal at Citar's feet curiously.

"This is Lynx, my soul animal." The younger boy said proudly. "Are you ready for today?" He asked, and when Rahul nodded, he grabbed the boy's arm and began to pull him after himself to show him every part of Hegyfok. He led him around the ornate corridors, first to the dining room where they had their breakfast, and then Citar showed Rahul where the hegins of the Bolacsuk tribe usually train, where they study, and what were the best places to relax. Eventually, Citar took the new boy to the room where the tribe kept the clothes.

"I think this should be good, but you better try it on just to make sure." Citar stepped in front of Rahul with black clothes in his hand. The boy took the garment with suspicion, but eventually did what he was asked to do. And Citar, while Rahul dressed, was busy finding himself a new boot because he had managed to pierce what he had used yesterday and now the water was flowing in through its nose.

"I'm ready. Do you think it will be good?" Rahul called out to Citart, who was trying on boots, the Bolacsuk boy raised his head. He looked closely at the new boy and nodded slowly.

"Try to bend over." He gave the order and when Rahul did what he asked he smiled. "It will be perfect. Well, now wait a little longer for me to get myself boots. Then we'll take your other clothes back to your room, and then it's better to gather the team and head for the moonwalk to get there before sunset. Believe me, no one likes going through the mountains right in the middle of the night. It's better to go sooner and then we can even come back relatively safely." The boy explained, and they did everything he said.

So half an hour later, six boys dressed in black were walking on the narrow paths of the mountains to get to a small yurt village around which people reported strange ghosts and where Rahul would take part in the first moonwalk of his life. The people in the village all greeted the hegins with suspicion, but the team pretended not to notice the strange gazes as they passed the people and entered the woods just as the sun reached the horizon.

"Well, new boy. Let's see what you know!" The team leader Taks put his hands on his hips.

"What will be my task?" Rahul asked back.

"Find the ghosts and remove them. No big deal if you get stuck just scream and we'll help." The older man declared, and Rahul nodded slowly before heading further into the woods.

"Are you sure this is a good idea? I don't think he's ever seen a ghost." Citar whispered as he stared anxiously after Rahul who went into the woods.

"If he can't deal with a simple group of ghosts, he doesn't deserve the time of our tribe." Grimaced Taks.

"I'm still worried about him." Citar growled, and in his mind he had strangled his team about three times already, his team with whom he worked worse than with his friends from the other tribes.
