Chapter 31 - Chapter 30: Adjusting to the impossible

Superman in Marvel – Chapter 30: Adjusting to the Impossible

Understanding the Change

Ethan sat on the roof of the farmhouse, staring at the rising sun.

It felt… different.

Before, the sun had always been a source of warmth, a steady presence in his life.

Now?

Now, it was alive.

He could feel its energy flowing through him like never before, sharper, stronger, infinite.

It wasn't just fuel anymore.

It was a connection.

His body had changed, evolved in ways he didn't fully understand. Every movement felt effortless, his strength barely had a limit, and his senses…

He clenched his jaw.

The senses were the worst part.

Even now, he could hear a heartbeat from miles away. A train moving in another state. The shifting of tectonic plates deep underground.

It was overwhelming.

But he wasn't scared.

He just needed control.

Tony's Tests

"Alright, Space Jesus, stand still."

Ethan rolled his eyes as Tony Stark walked around him, holding a handheld scanner.

They were inside the barn, which had now turned into a makeshift testing lab. Equipment hummed around them, screens flickering with data that even Tony didn't fully understand yet.

Tony muttered as he examined the readings. "This is insane. You know that, right?"

Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Which part?"

Tony gestured wildly. "The part where your body is operating on levels that shouldn't be possible." He held up the scanner. "You're not just absorbing solar radiation anymore—you're storing it, redirecting it. Like a walking nuclear reactor, but with godlike efficiency."

Ethan frowned. "And that means…?"

Tony sighed. "It means if you don't figure out how to regulate this power, you might accidentally vaporize something."

Ethan stiffened.

Tony leaned against the table. "Look, I get it. New power-ups are fun and all, but you need to be careful." He pointed a finger at him. "If your strength is this ridiculous, imagine what happens if you lose your temper."

Ethan exhaled. He already knew that.

But hearing Tony say it?

It hit harder.

He wasn't a weapon.

He wasn't a threat.

But right now?

The line between protector and unstoppable force had never felt thinner.

Family Concerns

That night, Ethan sat with his family at the dinner table.

His mother kept looking at him with worried eyes. His father was quieter than usual. His brothers—normally joking or messing around—barely spoke.

He knew why.

They had seen what he had become.

Finally, his mother broke the silence. "Are you okay?"

Ethan hesitated. "I think so."

His father's voice was gruff. "Think?"

Ethan exhaled. "I don't know how to explain it. I feel… different. More than I ever have before."

His brothers exchanged looks. Daniel finally muttered, "You're a freaking god now."

Ethan flinched.

Because that wasn't true.

It couldn't be.

"I'm still me," he said firmly. "I promise."

Rebecca reached across the table, squeezing his hand. "You'll always be our son. But Ethan… you have to be careful."

He nodded. "I know."

Jacob leaned forward, his expression unreadable. "Can you control it?"

Ethan hesitated.

And that hesitation said everything.

A New Crisis Looms

Far above Earth, beyond the reach of satellites, something stirred.

A presence. A force.

Watching. Waiting.

Ethan Carter had stepped beyond his limits.

And the universe had noticed.
