Chapter 1 - Chapter 1. Decaying world

Me? You wanna know more about me? Well... it's not impossible but there are not many things that i will be able to tell you about myself but i can tell you about my journey before i met you

His way of talking was not too defensive nor too comfortable, it was just enough for one to hold conversation with another for well, let's say "necessary informations".

That day, even though it was quite a while ago, i still remember it as clear as day. I was, well "working" just like any other day in my life but ever since i woke up that day i felt quite...quite nauseous and weak but still work is work so, i continued my day, ignoring the weird thing that was happening to me, but at some point in the day, the nauseous feeling was just too much to handle and not to mention the intense pain that came right after the nauseous feeling, it was cold, it was painful and it was directly in my heart. Right after the sharp pain in my heart, i could literally hear the intense beating of my heart directly in my eardrums. All i remember after that moment is the sudden darkness that consumed my sight and right after that i remember waking up, well only consciously because even after regaining my consciousness, it felt as if i was being held down by hundreds of people. I could not move a single muscle in my body. As i tried my best to break out of whatever was going on with my body at that moment, the doctor who was just by my side saw my struggles and hurried his way to me. His look, that damn look! —His tone changed in that specific moment— he looked at me as if i was already a corpse lying dead in front of him!! —His already angered tone changed into that of a rage that had been bottling inside of him but right after it, he took a few quick breaths and calmed himself—

"Already?" What do you mean by that?

The woman with the silver hair who was sitting besides him questioned in curiousness.

I don't need to hide it to ya so, i will be straightforward, just like how the doctor was with me. He said some words to calm me down but i could not care less about them, what he said right after it was the real deal....the real me. He said with a face brimming with pity and in a saddened tone. He explained that i had at most a few months to live.

His emotionless face, his tired tone and his look that screamed fear was enough evidence that every single word that came out of his mouth were in fact, true.

Only a few months? Wha....how? What happened? And how long has it been since then?

Her questions were almost endless and every single one of them were as genuine as possible even though they had met only a few days ago.

At first i was as surprised as you. Well, for a short while i was but it felt as if it was bound to happen. It's hard to explain but at that moment it felt as if it was a normal turn of events in my life....just like back in "those days". —He immediately continued talking right after without giving hher a chance to speak, it was as if he did it purposely to avoid her questions regarding his past life— only a few months, i did not want to waste a single day right after hearing that my end was near. I did not and i still do not have anything i want to achieve in my life nor do i want anything from anyone but i did have one, only one wish ever since my childhood and that was to venture the world or at least some part of it before i died. So, i did exactly that, the very next day after i heard my heart would heart would beat only for a few months, i packed my bag and went on a journey to explore as many places as is i could before i eventually reach the place where will be my final resting place. I went to many places since i started my journey like the horrowing spire, the splintered veil and many more before i eventually ended up here, the moonlight forest and met you.

His gaze slowly shifted towards the woman who was listening to his words all this time. Her look was eternally grateful as well as beautiful. Her silver hair that shined like the finest dime in the world of eryndral, her eyes, those eyes were seemed as if they were not of a human being. Her luminous gold eye paired with her fair silky smooth skin made her look like a goddess fallen from the skies. Last part may as well be not an exaggeration.

/A few days ago/

Moonlight forest, known for it's eternal beauty that no other places in the world of eryndral can meet, specifically in the middle of the night when the moon shines at it's finest like a silver lantern hanging in the heavens above the lands of eryndral.

The moonlight forest, as the name suggests is a place where the effects of moonlight reign the most. The moonlight filtered gently through the canopy, painting the forest in soft silver hues. Leaves shimmered faintly, catching the light as if dusted with starlight. Shadows stretched long and quiet across the ground, shifting with the soft rustle of the trees. Pools of dew glowed faintly, their surfaces rippling with each passing breeze, while the air carried a chill that seemed to settle into the bones. It wasn't just light—it felt alive, as though the moon itself was watching, breathing life into the stillness of the night.

That day, the moonlight forest welcomed an unexpected visitor or should i say, a few unexpected visitors. Drawn by the beautiful glow that the forest was emitting, zailos was heading deeper into the forest like the forest itself was calling for him, it was almost hypnotizing.

The flora and fauna of the world of eryndral were very unique in their own ways but the ones in moonlight forest were particularly more weird than anything that day. From the huge trees to the smallest plants, even the small yet extremally beautiful faunas were working with flora, pointing deeper inside the forest, all of them, at the same time at one specific place. Curious young lad didn't see any reason to not follow their lead as ever since he entered the forest, he had been only feeling warm and comfortable being in this place so he knew that this place was something that could be trusted.

Heading deeper into the forest, he eventually found himself in the middle of the forest. Everywhere he looked, he could only see flora and fauna of moonlight forest shining at their brightest but one specific place was different. It was burning, the ground itself was burning but surprisingly enough the fire was not spreading nor was it violent. It was hot for sure but it was not raging like how flame is supposed to. It was as if the fire itself was trying to control itself. In the middle of the fire, he could barely see a woman lying unconscious, the smoke from the fire made it hard to see just who it was and in what state the woman was in, but he didn't hesitate to jump in the second he saw her.

It could be because of his origin from the ember nation or because of any other reason, the flame didn't affect him in the slightest. He quickly went to the place where she was lying unconscious and miraculously, she was unscratched as well, even though the place around her were burnt. it was like the fire was trying to avoid burning her signified by the fact that the place in where she was lying unconscious wasn't burned at all instead it was reacting to the moonlight and shining brightly.

Her eyes were barely open when zailos turned her towards him from the ground to check up on her but something extremely unexpected happened at that exact moment. The woman pulled him close by his collar and kissed him on the lips. The kiss was extremely quick, almost a peck on the lips but right after the kiss the woman lost her consciousness.
